Politics / Re: I Respect Obasanjo But He Introduced Bribery To The National Assembly-melaye by Osario: 11:52pm On Jan 28, 2016
siraj1402:
Dino Melaye, a senator from Kogi west, has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter to the national assembly as a misplacement anger, accusing him of introducing corruption into the national assembly.

Obasanjo had written a letter to the national assembly accusing it of insincerity for its planned purchase of 469 cars worth N4.7bn.

But Melaye, in a riposte on Thursday, said the former president introduced corruption into the national assembly in his bid to run for a third term in office.

“I have tremendous respect for president Olusegun Aremu Okikiola Obasanjo. Elder statesman, respected pan Africanist and committed patriot. I went through the letter written to all senators and members of the house of representatives. The letter I can see is a misplacement of anger,” he said.

“Our leader is mistaking the eighth national assembly as the same senate assembly that defrauded him in 2007. Those who collected his money and refused to implement the 3rd term agenda. I appeal to baba that we are not the ones please. After nine years of that bribery saga, the first of its kind, I expect forgiveness to have taken place.

“There was the case of bribery introduced by the Obasanjo regime in the desperate attempt to remove speaker Ghali Umar Na’abba from office then. In fact, there was open display of that bribery money on the floor of the house. That government exposed the national assembly to corruption and easy money. I hope this is not in an attempt to cover up and distract attention from the Halliburton and Siemens corruption allegations.

“While I am against corruption anywhere in Nigeria, I will not support accusations based on anger and vindictiveness. The eighth senate should also look inwardly and purge herself of all the deliberate misgivings of the past. Nigeria must work and we must support the anti corruption stand of the Buhari administration. God bless Nigeria.”

I had thought that Dino Melaye was an intelligent man. But after reading his response to Obasanjo's genuine and patriotic concern, I'm to to believe that Dino is a mediocre, an opportunist. No wonder in a nation of abject poverty, he flouts his dirty wealth with crass insensitivity
Politics / Re: Obiano Flags Off Housing Estate Project, Inspects Ongoing Roads, Bridges (photos by Osario: 11:31pm On Jan 26, 2016
Huffington:
AWKA - Following his promise to provide safe, reasonable and affordable housing for Anambra citizens, the state Governor Willie Obiano has on Tuesday performed a ground-breaking ceremony of the Obinwanne Housing Estate.

Located along the Enugwu-Agidi axis, Njikoka, within the capital territory, the housing estate on completion will have properly finished roads and concrete drains, electricity directly from the central business district, open space, firm security, Primary and Secondary school, e.t.c. The project is directly overseen by the Anambra State Housing Development Corporation.

After the commissioning of the estate, Obiano made a quick stop at Delfam Songhai Project aimed at producing old and new breeds of agro products in Anambra State.

Recall that the state Government had recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Del Farms to develop 1,000 hectares of land located at Achalla junction, a minute drive from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam.

With over 200 acres already cleared, Songhai project is set to produce variety of farm products including out growers feed used by brewery companies like the Sabmiller Brewery, Onitsha, makers of Hero beer popularly known as ‘’Oompa’’.

Obiano inspects the 30km Awgbu-Okpeze; Ndiukwuenu-Awa-Ufuma-Amansea road with 28 culverts and 3 bridges. This road linking 3 Local Government Areas will open up the rich agrarian areas of Anambra South Senatorial zones.

Travel / Re: What Do Nigerians Think Of Australia? by Osario: 3:57am On Jan 23, 2016
blackspade:

I know this may sound a bit ignorant, but from the many articles I've read, along with the experiences people of color have been through in Australia, it gives me the notion that racism is prevalent in Australian society. The government seems like they support open discrimination when it comes to immigration (refugees to be exact), when they blatantly discriminated against African refugees awaiting relocation, because of a few bad apples in Brisbane. They decided to decrease the number of African refugees from 70% to 30%, favoring Asian and European refugees no longer in conflict zones.

To sum it up bluntly, I don't really like Australia, but it looks nice. Thanks.

Beware! Not all that glitters is gold. Show pictures of downtown areas of major Australian cities doesn't make the country a paradise. Australians are was than Rissians when it comes to demeaning black people. Use Google if in doubt

Sentimentality aside, it is not the business of the government to cater for the needs of a couple who realized that they can not fend for themselves or their children. They did not think about the possibility of having to take care of children when the heat got to much at night and they decided to pleasure themselves, but now only come crying afterwards.

I'm surprised the government even gave them that much. undecided

Sorry for your ignorance. The money that belongs to you and the babies is being wasted on officials like legislators. In civilized countries, those babies will receive thier allowance first before those crude legislators are paid thier salaries

Why was the animal allowed to be treated abroad. After 4 years as governor of Akwa Ibom, he couldn't build a hospital capable of treating a minor trauma like his?

Politics / Re: Waku: Saraki's Wife Ordeal Mastermind By Tinubu by Osario: 8:17pm On Jul 25, 2015
midolian:
A frontline politician and former Vice Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator JKN Waku on Saturday, pointedly accused a National Leader of the APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu of being the mastermind of a petition over which the wife of the Senate President, Mrs Toyin Saraki, has been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The APC chieftain decried a situation where Tinubu will be exploring his personal relationship with the EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde, to embarrass and torment fellow party members as well as overheat the polity.

According to him, "I have chosen to speak out on this issue and make my findings on this issue known to the public. After days of painstaking enquiries, I discovered that both Tinubu and Lamorde maintain a mutually beneficial relationship since the days of Lamorde as the EFCC Director of Operations and based in Lagos between 2003 and 2007 when Tinubu was equally the governor of Lagos.”

Waku, who is also an ACF member of Board of Trustees (BOT), said: "I also discovered from my findings in EFCC that the so called petition against Mrs Saraki was personally given to Lamorde by Tinubu under the guise that he was submitting the petition on behalf of the APC leadership to punish Saraki for working against the party's leadership on the choice of National Assembly leaders.

"This was followed by a promise to help secure a second term for Lamorde as EFCC chairman."
Senator Waku said he is highly disturbed that EFCC is again being dragged into the political arena to settle political scores like some years ago.

Waku said: "I want to use this opportunity to caution our leaders that no individual's ambition to create a fiefdom for himself should be allowed to drag our party into unnecessary controversies and endlessly overheat the polity.

"The party has done its beat to send lawmakers to the National Assembly to work for the nation and no particular political party, and as such, they should allow our Senators and Reps members to settle down and work in the overall interest of the nation, which is far and above every other sectional interest.

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/waku-sarakis-wife-ordeal-mastermind-by-tinubu/215580/

This Waku should be ashamed of himself. He's an enemy of the new Nigeria we've been yearning for. He is simply fighting to maintain the old order where those who looted the nation are left alone to enjoy their booty. I will advise EFCC to investigate him too. He seems to have skeletons in his dark room.

Who told you the USA has a more friendly immigration policy? Go ask the unofficial 11 million or so illegal immigrants residing in the USA, whose chances of ever getting a permanent residency is as good as finding a needle in a haystack. I forgot to mentiion that the USA removes about half a million people every year who have no papers to reside in the country. And there are countless of others held in detention facilities awaiting deportation. And if you happen to scale all these, pervacive racial discrimination awaits you in the workplace.

I've been waiting for someone to point out this fact. The US is no more better than the UK, immigration and job wise.

Though staying in the UK without papers is not ideal, however, you have to weigh your options. If you can go to school in the UK go ahead and do it and deal with the rest later.

Why do you always crave for attention?

Ruben Abbati never seizes to amaze me. He seems to be oblivious of nature of the office of the president. For a presidential spokesman to open his mouth and pour such invectives on a citizen for expressing his opinion, is utterly disgusting. History is patiently waiting to consign him to his appropriate place in the annals of Nigerian politics

Why are Nigerians so obsessed with paper qualifications? "Graduate Trainee Driver"' Graduate Trainee Banker", graduate trainee this, graduate trainee that. Why the madness? In any case, how trained are Nigerian graduates?  I feel the whole thing is an index of underdevelopment. Come to think of it, How many Nigerian-trained PhD holders have written any book that's up to 500 pages? Can, for example, Nigerian PhD holder-governors like Uduaghan and Babangida Aliu, write a scholarly essay that is world class in their field?

The Yourubas are the most fearful tribe in Nigeria. They are also the greatest cawards. All they know best is shout, rake, make mouth and nothing else. Abacha locked up Abiola nothing happened. He locked up Obasanjo nothing happened, he locked up Diya nothing happened. MEND attacked Atlas Cove in Lagos Nothing happened. Even before the Biafra War started, Yorubas were making mouth. But when the real action stated they hid behind Hausas all in the name of One Nigeria. Even when Boko Haram killed a Yourubas Prof in BUK, nothing happened. Yourubas should stop raking because they cannot act above the level of NURTW.

Fellow Nigerians, let's not despair. The night may be long, but day shall dawn in Nigeria. God will certainly send us a Moses and the Pharoes of Aso Rock, their horses and their riders shall drown in their own blood. J.J. Rawlings did it in Ghana, Romanians did it in recent history too. Nigerian Pharoes should realize that the world is getting smaller, that those countries  that give them red carpet reception today may not grant them asylum tomorrow.
