Romance / Re: Pls Advise, should I Marry This Yoruba Guy? by patbrooks: 6:34pm On Mar 12, 2010
Sorry o my sister. I think you have to go with your mom and dad. I was in that situation some months back. I had a yoruba girl in the States and she does love me and wanted to get married too. but when i visited home to see her parents, it was another story. The welcome me very well . my next step was for my parents to go do the waka as we say it at home. guess what? I was refered as Omo Ibo. even when they are aware i was from the Niger Delta. I felt so bad. I learnt that cos i made a call some day to her after our discussion she thought the conversation was over and i could hear her in the background tell a neighbor why she cant give her daughter to me as OmO Ibo. i kept listening for over twenty minutes before she realised that the phone was still connected.

Oh my God i said to myself. when i came back to the staes she called me and gave me a reason why she doent want it. among her reason is tha i was once married in the states and that my girls dad ( who is now dead) told the daughter never to marry someone who had been married before. I went ahead to explain to her that when you go overseas you have to do all you can to get papers and that its over for a long time. All to no avail.

We ve stoped seeing each other just ordinary friends now.

Now i decided to try another one an Ibo girl. That one told me pointblank that her mom will never be a problem but her Dad. i ask why? and she told me that her Dad fought on Biafra side and that the Dad still felt that we betrayed them againt the Nigeria troups. I looked at myself. I wasnt born when the war was fought , so why should i be meant to face such. so i stoped see that one.

Now i am about to marry a sister her. A black American. period.

Bottom line. dont do it if you or your family wount have a wrong perception about your family.

Travel / Re: Airport Immigration And Their Monstrous Acts! by patbrooks: 5:09pm On Feb 16, 2010
This is crazy. I dont know what these officers thinks Nigerians are. The average police officer dont know the law they are hired to ptotect. The Immigration man cant enforce immigration laws. the custom is busy looking for bribes.

The last time i came to Nigeria, I visited with a yankee passport cos my nigeria passport was expired. so when i got to Nigeria i agot a new one. meanwhile I overtayed my visa.

At the departure hall , one mallam that calls himself an immigration officer asked me if i have a Nigerian passport, i replied yes but that its been check in with my luggages as i didnt think i needed it at this point. He told me i have broken the law and that i wont travel tonight. I just laughed and told all of them that i am not ready to go back yet and still want to be with my mom i have not seen a long time. I also told him i better start going back to Niger Delta where him as an immigration cant tell me this bull shit.

The way he looked at me and another officer. after a few minutes he stamped me out and said next time always have your naija passport on you.

The thing is most law enforcement officers are not ready to do the right thing. all they are looking for is collect bribe and more bribe.

@ Poster
I hope you got your passport back and was able to proceed on your trip.
Family / Re: How Do You Deal With An Overstaying Mother In Law by patbrooks: 6:24am On Jan 31, 2010
Its funny how ladies think. Before i got married, the only condition i gave her was that she must be my moms best friend. if she cant then its not going to work. As the only child of my mother i know what i will be facing and so that was the best way to avoid such. on the other hand, I love my mothe inlaw to a fault. infact before i tell my issues to my mom my mother lnlaw knows aleady cos we are so close. my wife is even jealous about it too. she can stay and stay as long as she wishes. and so is my mom. my wife close to my mom than myself.

its all about tollerance and ladies can do it. you man can never side with you against his mom. put that in your head. as long as she is still alive his mother will defend him. so its needless fight her to leave cos she overstayed.

Politics / Navy Helicopter Down By A Stinger. by patbrooks: 2:06am On Jan 28, 2010
They were doing surveliance on the Niger Delta Militants regrouping. soucres from the area say it was shut down by a stinger. They know what happened and know that the inability of other section of Nigeria to respect Niger Deltans for the milk they have always provided to that nation for 50 yrs. Its obvious they feel they are not entitled to rule.

The greatest mistake they will make is for the cabals in the North to kill or over throw the government. That will be the begining of the CIA / Brookings institute prediction. untill the Army Navy and airforce stop the over flights in that area. more will come down.

Those who have ears, let them hear. Infact they may hear. period.

I think you are getting me wrong. In business you make calls and that cost you money. period. I think you are one of those puppet that work for MTN or glo and cant articualte the fact that you are under bundage in Nigeria. Telephone is free in some Mid eastern countries like city of Dubai. whether its incomming or not thats not the issue.
I gave a vivid example of how things operate in Nigeria and you dont seem to get it. In the US if I am guy that makes frequent calls, i dont have to sign up for cell phones that gives me specified minutes, instead i will go for unlimited plan for only $50 a month. I can talk until i drop. Same goes for business in America. There is freedom not some idiots in corridors of power like your ndukwe and Ojo maduekwe of a guy. Did you see what he did in New york last week. A disgrace to my country Nigeria. Shame.

If we must improve our standard of living and join the race for econmic growth we must do things differently. It has to start with you.

Now Tell me what have you done for your country Nigeria, instead you will want to profit from where you never sowed.

Politics / Re: 0 by patbrooks: 12:00am On Jan 24, 2010
This is a very interesting topic.Lets look at it like this. If i as a Nigerian citizen negotiate with a telephone company in the US that offers unlimited services on your cell phone for a flat fee monthly, do you think i can pull it off in Nigeria? the answer is no. The cabal or telephone mafias will want to eliminate me for crashing the price of ( 50 dollars) phone services. Infact Ndukwe of a guy wont give me a license in the first place. We are our own enemies. In America, you can state a copmpany in your garage or basement and employ one or two people cos the environment is good for investment. The last time i visited, i was buying phone cards of N5000 daily. before you say jack robinson , the credit is gone. thats not the way Economy grows.

We are not ready and thats why areas where we can create great jobs are not there. India has almost all call center jobs in the US. call centers in india create over three million jobs. i mean quality jobs. put that in Nigeria , an English speaking country. you will see what difference it will make. some states in Nigeria are not up to three million in population. we are doomed.

We cant make an impact untill these old fools in govt are let go and replaced with youger generation that are inovative, and those that can compete in a global economy.

@poster, you are a joker. How can you put Ndokwa, ika as Biafra. That an insult. we are not Ibos. Do you get that. We are confortable in delta and am part of Niger Delta. Biafra can be where they are accross the Niger period. If Nigeria has to be divided let it be along Geopolitical zones. we have six of them and that ok by us.
Business / Re: I Need Info On How To Open Usa Bank Account by patbrooks: 4:19am On Jan 17, 2010
@poster. You can do that by asking someone you know in the US to get you a prepaid card. it like a bank account. Illegals working in the US use it to get their paycheck from employers. its has a routing number and the account number comes with it. its easy. it cost your about 20 dolars to acivate and the card will me amailed to you.

you can use it to verify your paypal. Good luck.

babyboy, an eye for an eye. Women are deadly. you have to fight back otherwise you will be the looser. Go out there and get as many girlfriend as posible. infact someone more preety than herself. let her know that by them calling you at odd hours and get out of the bed at night to see them.
Then watch her reaction. she wont take it. you have to pay her back. not just once but as much as you can.

Dont stop there keep doing it daily, weekly. bring gift that she bought you back homne , birthday cards, jeans with perfumes she got you.

infact let the fight begin.

She will stop if she knows she is about to loose you. when she comes back, yu wanna know what happened, how it happened, and infact carry am to village to swear enough fake juju to scare the hell out of her. it will stop. trust me.

she will confess who she did it with, how many times and even things you never knew will come to limelight.

good luck.

Please dont be scared. I was like you some years back in the university in Nigeria before leaving for the states, we did it and for fear of my reaction she terminated the pregnancy before she told me. Guess what I still regret today cos i still dont have one. Infact even in the USA i am struggling to get one.

Brother, I beg you in Gods name. accept it and the good lord will provide for you to take care of them.

You can still live large, going to show of in the parks with your friends and feel blessed. trust me me you will be proud. When I go with my friends playing with their kids, I feel dejected every time i get home. Its not money but the love and joy it brings having one. You are a lucky chap.
Advice, Dont worry, the Lord will see you thru. Ok.

Car Talk / Re: 2001 Nissan Maxima Acceleration Issue by patbrooks: 2:10am On Dec 03, 2009
Zuby, from my experience i think you need a complete computer diagnostics on the car. I feel you have not serviced your transmission since you bought the car. transmision should be handled as if you are changing the oil of the car. do that and make sure that they change the filter on the transmission too. and use a synthetic transmission fluid for import cars not domestic cars as we refer to it in the USA.

let me repeat: do a diagnostics on it.
service transmission. use the specified fluid. dont listen to the mechanic as most cars are technologically advanced now adays than our mechanic will admit.
take care.

if you have a question let me know so i can find out from a service agent in Atlanta that works in Nissan at Gwinnet place in Duluth GA. ok.

@ Bolagun12

Okay.  I think you are so stupid to be on the girls side. Infact didnt it occur to you that someone is been used here? and that she is not letting the man move on with his life ( She has a man in the house and the poster cant see that thats a no go area). If she says no to him and tell the guy to please move on , then the man can now officially go for the room mate since its now a situation where he had to take one.

If am in the guys situation, this is what i will do.

Call  and tell her its not working and we need to end this. we can still be friends but not the way we i intended. My candid oppinion, is she likes him and still find something good in him. apart from what we have learnt in this thread, there is more out there we dont know. The Poster loves him and want to do anything to settle his situation but he went about it the wrong way. that was the mistakes he  talked about.

I predict: Bobo 2 will dump her when he is ready and she will try to go back to bobo1 in naija. she cant go back to the poster cos of pride but she would prefer to be with him if all fails.  Wishing all the parties involved good luck.

nairalanders especially the babes, please take note.
Romance / Re: Is She Worth Fighting For? I Need Honest Advise by patbrooks: 2:43pm On Jun 23, 2009
@ Beingme

I doubt if it was a contract marriage. the marriage lasted for 7 years. It take a lot for some one to be on contract marriage with a girl in the states.
secondly, you talked about not having kids for all those years? its not uncommon for such situation especially if the guy went into it with all hi s mind .
I think he became involved with the girls when he realised that those years spend was not yeilding result.
I dont think he was playing games.
The girl in question took advantage of the situation in which the guy was and expoiting it to her advantage having done same to the guy in naija and still with the guy in Boston.

Yeah. I agree with you. he has to move on as fast as he could now. I disagree with Frank3.16. The best way to get over all this is get the hell out of her sight. no communication.

Sidman, @ 36 you can still get your life together. its not too late. you wasted time b4 acting but there is still time. love yourself and learn from all those mistakes.
i wish you the best.
