make una go marry and leave the guy alone. Even Rita Dominic don go marry na even lack of man nearly make Geneveive want kolo some months ago.

And what exactly is your business with the marital status of strange women online? Are you married yourself? I guess that is why you are going crazy too. A mentally stable and loved man wouldn't type what you just typed.

Maybe they are polygamous in nature too.
Shouldn't be a fuss for a society that thinks the logical set should have sex at every turn. They have to sleep with women, not goats.

Family / Re: Has Anyone Gotten Married Without Performing A Traditional Marriage In Nigeria? by pocohantas(f): 11:48pm On Jun 02
Many people have.

Where do you think the term "Lagos marriage" started from?

I have an aunty that married that way. When her father in-law died, my uncles and aunties didn't go. Reason being the husband hasn't paid her bride price. So what were they supposed to attend as? However, they married legally at a Lagos court.

The downside I see to it is, their kids have no strong connection to both sides. They don't come to our village. They don't go to their father's. 365 days they are in Lagos.

His parents and in-law cannot agree to such because they are mentally stable. He has to do it alone. He believes fulfilling traditional rites is buying the bride. But he would pay money to have a registry marriage. Buy the court staff biscuit and malt. Pay the church. Give rice to choristers and pastors...etc. Where he draws the line is the traditional one? Well done!

unless you have unlimited data, using a smart TV for watching content is useless... and might as well stay with DSTV.

if you do have unlimited data, you can easily get an IPTV app on your smart TV and watch channels/movies/series/sport etc from all over the world.

I think expensive is the word.

What is IPTV, please?

To really enjoy your smart TV, you'd need to be in a situation where you never have to bother about how many GB/MB you have left in your data plan. I was reading on Nairaland recently that Airtel offers unlimited internet for 20k, but I think you might need a 5G router to enjoy the benefits, I'm not really sure so be sure to do a little more research or visit the nearest office. Starlink is also an alternative, I think the price of the setup was reduced recently to about 400k or thereabouts and monthly unlimited is 38k.

Thanks. I am not really worried about it as I have gotten used to data and electricity costs due to my work. However, people kept mentioning smart tv and I almost thought it was free to use. So, it was more of a shock for me.

The airtel 5g router sounds like a good idea. That is if truly Airtel offers unlimited at 20k.

I can watch a ton of movies with my 22GB MTN subscription till my one-month Showmax membership runs out.

Just subscribe, you can start with the N1,200 Showmax monthly subscription and see.

Thanks once again. I will check it out.

I suggest that you download Showmax so that you may watch the newest films and cast them on your smart TV.

I don't really have time to watch my DSTV which is running on Compact Plus.... When I have some free time, I simply launch the Showmax app, choose a live match or interesting movie, and cast it to my laptop.

The only time I make use of my DSTV is to vote for my Friend at Nigeria Idol, or to Stream Simon's Snake in the City show.

Thanks for this suggestion. I take it that Showmax doesn't use data, right?

Oh we read the tales of women they give their attention to on different threads, I can say for a fact that we they "starved of attention" are not missing much. Nahhhhhhh we are good! grin

Absolutely no allure to their supposed attention. Never looked at them and desired their attention. If we ask Seun for block button now, na them go still cry. So much for starving us of attention.

Use smart TV they say,
Only mumu dey use DSTV.

What of the cost of running a smart TV? Or am I using my own wrong?

I was on Compact plan of N12,500 before DSTV increased their subscription for the umpteenth time. I bought into the smart TV hype and decided to explore it. It has been there, but I never utilised its smartness. Also, I am not such a TV person, so I didn't notice how much of a guzzler it is, but recently I have a guest that probably doesn't know it runs on data. She watches TV at a stretch. I subscribed 120GB and I am not sure of the balance before her coming, but I saw it drain in 4 days.

I want to know...

1) Are there cheaper/extremely fast data plans that some of you access?

2) Does anyone use Starlink here? How much is it? What is subscription? Where did you buy it? I have been nursing the idea of getting one. For work, not TV, please.

Lol. What I really find funny is the fact that they are the ones creating threads to notify themselves of women's absence on this section.

Yet some wackadoodles still believe women left because they don't get attention from them grin I am honestly baffled by such delusions! Who's pinning for whose attention here? Lol.

They will be alright!

I guess the women they give attention made Forbes U30. Every single time they keep overrating their market value.

Romance / Re: These Fears Are Real At 33 by pocohantas(f): 8:52am On May 29
Acidosis:
Seeing the number 33 sends shivers down my spine again. I lost my wife hours after childbirth some 33 days ago. She was 33 when she passed. Big dreams, big things we both planned all seem like they're over, right? But really, they are not. She lived a purposeful life. I'm mourning, ignoring the many "if" and "what if" scenarios—the thoughts won't stop coming if you allow them—and finding the courage to take care of two newborn babies. My point? Don't be too hard on yourself. Embrace the challenges and learn to recognise the blessings. All will be well and, more importantly, remember that good or bad, fast or slow, everything will come to an end someday. Make that a reality check.

Oh No!!!!!
I can't believe I am reading this.
I am so sorry you are going through this, Acid. I don't have the right words. I don't.

I pray you find the strength to pull through. Accept my sympathy. I share in your grief and deeply saddened by your loss. May her soul continue to rest in peace.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: After 10 Years Of Unemployment, How Far Will A 100k Job Help A Man? by pocohantas(f): 11:52pm On May 28
You are quite lucky to get a job of 100k, because asides being a graduate, I doubt you have acquired relevant skills and experience in the 10yrs post-graduation and except by luck, it is enough to tell any employer your kinda person.

No, you are not being greedy. 100k in indeed small in current Nigeria, but if you wanted more, you would have done more in a decade. If you learned drycleaning 10yrs ago, maybe you will be earning more than 100k monthly in 2024. Sadly you want a career in corporate Nigeria and they have given you their starting salary. Please manage it.

N100,000 / 21 working days = N4792
$3+... Not so bad if you trek to work daily.

That's my issue with them. Call out their nonsense, they'll say you're encouraging gender wars but they will never see the 1001 gender wars their fellow gender stir up in a daily basis

As in ehn. If I take my time, I will find that thread. I commented and they said feminists are pained. Now it has happened and they still want to gag me grin. There is no comparison with active female comments and what these guys do here. No comparison at all.

What you did wrong was to include 'angry feminist thingy' in the post.

I have been doing my best to call them out.

I called a dude lazy in this thread https://www.nairaland.com/8101168/update-girlfriend-does-not-want#130096302 for fumbling a good girl, infact all the dudes there did too.

Biko rest this talk. Harry Song did what I said and more. It is not feminists that sent him to breakup with his longtime gf for someone he barely knows. Stating the truth is not angry-feminism. It is fact-checking. Tell yourselves the truth and leave feminism alone. You won't die

I hope they too realize that and put it to good use.

I'm tired of seeing grown-ups fight and argue over this nonsense everytime.

Whatever contritions we have over cases like this should be done justly.

They don't need to realise. Quote them! grin

What was unjust about my post? Did HarrySong not do everything I said? He did it and more.

Tired indeed. grin grin

The men creating countless threads, digging out old videos, posting fake stories and videos daily just to tarnish women need your advice more.

They don't ever advise those ones. Once you call them out, they claim you are taking sides. Simply because they can't handle the truth. grin
