aribisala0: You must be an otondo to be asking this sort of dumb question. Every state in Nigeria recieves billions of naira every month from federal allocations. Out of it, all civil servants in that state will PAYE will be deducted from all their salaries, same with contractors that execute projects. Remember that PAYE forms bulk of the IGR of most states in Nigeria! Are you now getting the point? If NW has only 5 states instead of 7, its IGR would have been much lower than it currently is. On the other hand, if SE has 6 or 7 states, its IGR as a region would be much higher than it is currently. |

What Lagos is doing is reasonable They need money for tools like infrastructure factories and rails but other parts of Nigeria need that aswell and can’t benefit off being coastal like Lagos, it’s healthy for revenues to be diverted to neighbouring cities as it all comes back around when every state produces the revenue it needs to thrive and grow its industries |

This is actually chump change, they need like about 100 times more than this figure and restrain population growth and inflow migration into Lagos state for any meaningful change to be seen in Lagos. Lagos state Lagos should be shinning like Dubai, but can not because of the large population of immigrants from failed states, they are practically stalling progress and straining resources. I once saw a stream of new streetlights already vandalized and cannibalized for parts by criminals, same with government infrastructures all over the state. LASG can never keep up with Lagos and unsustainable human growth and pressure on never enough resources. |

Ovamboland: God will bless you ojare. I can't even fathom why Nigerians are so emboldened to go public with ignorance that is simply laughable. Some chap was saying Lagos is not handling major project on the scale seen throughout neighboring Countries. I had to laugh. Nothing is the equivalent of Eko Atlantic in the entire Africa. Talk less of the metro rail system that will be the only one of it's kind in sub-saharan Africa perhaps only matched by what is available in the most developed African nations of South Africa, Egypt etal. The Lekki free trade zone, Dangote refinery, one of the biggest in the world, and planned international airport are amazing projects that will make the Lekki-Epe corridor one of the biggest hub of African export-import trading and logistics. The Dangote man-made port and jetty I have seen with my own eyes nko? Sometimes the igorance on this forum, driven by ethnocentric bigotry and mischief-making, is enough to make one deactivate a valid account. |

lukaino: That revenue of 267b is tiny, Johannesburg we should be comparing with Lagos generated 7 trillion naira equivalent in 6 months from it's 5m residents. Una just plenty reach 20m for nothing, contributing little or nothing to bottom line of Lagos. Lagos revenue looks big only when you compare to puny contraptions, jokes called states. 2 Likes |

OmoEpe: It's over 30 years that FG did anything tangible in Lagos. It's Buhari that has ensured the Lagos Ibadan rail was completed and pushing the Lagos Ibadan expressway. Who says the North and West alliance has not paid off? When 16 years of PDP led by southerners delivered virtually nothing special to Lagos 1 Like |

seguno2: Why not first start with how exactly the FG developed Lagos? Let us know if FG or even the colonials built more than Ports, 1 airport and 2 or 3 bridges in Lagos state? I always wonder what people like you insinuate that the FG developed Lagos or in any way responsible for their economic growth. Economic growth in Lagos came from industrialization and the industries in Lagos state and the last time I checked, the FG's seat and presence was limited to Lagos Island and the industries and industrial estates were established by the old Western Region under Awolowo. |

DOTian: I challenge you to name these projects here and now. No shifting of goal posts and no double-speak excuses. Just name the projects putting Lagos to shame or accept you are an IPOBian ethnocentric bigot and tribalistic damaged goods. The fourth mainland bridge alone that is one of many spectacular and world class projects of Lagos , with construction due to start in December 2021, is exemplarily the longest bridge in Africa. You Igbos need to cure yourselves of the hate disease that sees you lying so hideously just because you cannot give credit where due as an extremely ethnocentric and bigoted people. Lagos projects has names and structure every observer acknowledge as superlative and exemplary . Can you rise to the challenge and prove your point by citing the examples of "mega projects" other African nations are handling? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmaSkL08DPE |

It is grossly ridiculous to keep talking about the FG in Lagos when in fact the FG left decades ago, so who is managing Lagos, developing Lagos, transformed the IGR from N500 Million before 1999 to what massive doughnut today? Is the FG responsible for the tax policies and tax collection policies that's generating this massive IGR? Was the FG also the governor of Lagos state when Tinubu came up with the brilliant idea to generate huge IGR? |

When Dangote refinery, fertilizer and petrochemical complex kicks in and Lagos state's massive IGR quadruple, I won't be suprised to hear the same rubbish about the FG developed Lagos as if the FG begged and lobbied Dangote to establish in Lagos state instead of the Lagos state government and Fashola doing all the hard work, sacrificing thousands of acres of prime land, creating the largest FTZ in West Africa, establishing the first and the largest private deep seaport in West Africa, the largest ricer mill in Africa and so on.. The noise about the FG developing Lagos comes primarily from people with failed governors and failed states, this is their one and only face-saving argument to excuse their own failed governors and failed state. 1 Like |

Ovamboland: Continue making excuses for the Lagos thieves instead of insisting on what they have done with the increased IGR that ultimately comes out of your pocket. If they increased the IGR by multiple times, did they also increase the hectolitres of water and number of buildings covered by the same multiple times, to give one example |

Here is my own question to highlight the weakness and absurdity behind your port and FG argument. With the ports in Lagos, how come Lagos state was not generating this massive figures before 1999? Shebi the ports were there before 1999? Do you not see how ridiculous you sound? 2 Likes |
