I have a weird feeling British fans and the media are happy about Abramovich’s current ordeal because of how he disrupted the traditional EPL after he arrived. England is a very traditional system that can be quite rigid in fighting change but Abramovic changed that, especially after winning his first league title with Chelsea. Other investors followed suit with City/ Liverpool/ Arsenal/ Leicester etc

For the longest time, they have wanted an opportunity to take a good pound at him and what better chance than this? Abramovich’s arrival into EPL monetized the league at a higher fashion and the competitive nature of transfers meant the importation of foreign coaches which invariably led to the gradual decline of English coaches who are now regular pundits on TV or are coaching the lower leagues.

In the past, English coaches were recycled throughout the league but as money and the pressure to win competitions intensified, British/ English coaches started feeling the pressure and we’re let go. Many of them failed to evolve as the game changed, which goes back to my point about being traditional.
