A post I reposted here last year debunking the myth of obi's unpopularity.

These numbers would most likely not stand up to scrutiny. many of these "users" own several accounts. yours truly has 4 (four) different WhatsApp accounts and I'm active in ALL of them so I will be regarded as 4 WhatsApp accounts that's active. Also many of these Twitter accounts are operated by single people many ran by bots even Elon alluded to this and the owners didn't deny.

people also overrate the influence of social media. Social media isn't influencing non social media people as much as the reverse, you think most of these "obedients" who are Yoruba and are criticising Wole Soyinka on SM right now would be doing so in real life and therefore influence Yorubas around them to criticise Soyinka? These social media people try to align with the trends just because they want to swim with the tides and may actually share a different opinion in real life. that probably was why it shocked most people that Ekiti was won by Tinubu when many thought differently. many of them don't share the opinions they post but are just moving with the crowd. add in algorithms that make you see things you agree with and shuts out opposing opinions then you can be deceived into thinking what you're seeing is how the real world is and can be in for rude awakening when it doesn't go that way.

on a slightly related note. I don't know if I'm surrounded by the most idiotic of Tinubu and Obi supporters but anytime I try to pick their brains to confirm the talk of "this generation of youths now think for themselves and will not be told what to think" I can't help but conclude that this is actually the youth that doesn't even know what to think but wait for some social media posts from people who are trying to maintain a particular narrative so these supporters can run with it. that's why a speech of 2hours 30min would be cut to 5 seconds and then go viral that the giver of the speech said something stupid. when you eventually do your own finding to confirm the stupidity of the speaker you'd accidentally confirm the stupidity of those who watched 5 second video and if you dare try to ask "What if this video doesn't show the context?" you'd be hounded for being obeedeeot or agbado. In my opinion this is the dumbest set of youths we've ever had, empty headed people who can't even question anything so long it fits their preconceived conclusions and anybody who doesn't do the same would be hounded, maybe cancelled. Most won't notice this cuz they're inside the game but just stand by and watch them go and you might share the same conclusion as me to a varying degree

This your conclusion get k-leg. You're a youth yourself. How many generations (sets) of youth have you witnessed personally at your young age?

In the youth demography in every generation of Nigerians, there are intelligent people and less intelligent ones, who are always more in number.

There are intelligent and unintelligent people in both Obidient and Agbado camps.

How sure are you "this is the dumbest set of youths we've had"?

Can you tell us the smartest set of youths we've had and in what year? If you know the dumbest, you most know the smartest as well.

I think you're focusing on only the less intelligent ones to draw your conclusion.

It was Georges Buffon who said, “style is the man himself”. A man with nothing to hide, especially one not working in the field of literature where some indirectness is a virtue, tells you the truth in a simple, matter-of-fact way. Liars, meanwhile, tend to be long-winded and vague. As Orwell pointed out in his essay “Politics and the English Language”, this impreciseness of speech is often within the territory of unscrupulous politicians, whose aim is to obscure the true nature of things. Rather than tell you they have killed an entire village of people, they’d render the information in the most abstract and euphemistic way until it fails to provoke the right mental imagery, telling you they have “taken care of some undesirable elements”. The genocide of Jews is not called that; it’s called “The Final Solution”. Humbert Humbert phrases it neatly: “You can always count on a murderer for a fancy prose style”.

Generally, Nigerian politicians, including Obi, play the religious card. Of what use is religion if not used as a political tool, which is its primary purpose?

What is religion actually useful for?

Religion and politics are 5 and 6 in Nigerian politics.

The new devil created by this election has to be wike. That's if the court doesn't serve justice.

Wike has basically recreated Lagos' godfatherism political structure in rivers state.

Personally handpicked governor and deputy governor.

Personally handpicked and approved all house of rep and senate and house of assembly members in rivers state.

Every single political office holder in rivers state now bears allegiance to wike.

This does not bode well at all. May God help the people of Rivers state. This should not happen in any democracy. This is what people were revolting against in Lagos. One man's domination of the entire political structure of a state. Definitely has more downsides than upsides. Democracy is eroded.

Seeing how well Lagos has turned out, if I were you, I'll concentrate more on your state that has not had any semblance of good leadership since 1999.

SIM is in good hands, Rivers State will be fine.

You know many actors say several things in their movies they don't mean in real life. Actors do that all the time. Why did you actually find it funny?

Maybe because I don't follow Toyin Abraham on social media.

Religion and politics are 5 and 6 in Nigerian politics.
There is a slight difference between politicising religion and playing the religious card as a basis for campaign.

Political campaign is about using your opponent's weakness to gain an advantage. Peter Obi and Atiku used the muslim-muslim same faith ticket of the APC to campaign against them. That is politicising religion, it's different from using religion as a basis for getting votes. But having a muslim and christian vice respectively meant they were not against the religion but only used the same faith ticket of the APC to dissuade people from voting APC. Many APC members left the party because of the same faith issue.

APC themselves also used politicised religion with hope of winning a particular region dominated by Muslims. They didn't base their campaign on establishing Islamic dominance.

That said, the claim that parties played the religious card came mainly from their opposition. Especially APC knowing that their same faith ticket will create tension in many parts of the country, decided to use religion as a weapon against PO by making it sound like he was campaigning in a religious war. That's how low and wicked APC can get. They are willing to tear the nation apart with their propaganda as long as it destroys Peter Obi.
