Can you throw more light on the screenshot below? A 2009 post by one of the founding members of this thread. I mean read gongoaso's post and while both of you are right in one aspect, his post seems to buttress TEMIT0PE's assertion.

Hey 🤠

A2A.

1. As a professional in all aspect of services , you have to explain to the receiver of your information ( especially a new comer, novice, inexperienced, children etc ) in the very simplest form.

2. I don't follow the founding members ways but i follow the ways i have used years to learn from various reliable sources. Form-120 in the simplest explanation means; Admission letter/ Acceptance letter/ Offer letter/Admission pack etc. Attached is the USA embassy's evidence of how they summarise the meaning of Form-120.

3. Someone pointed out the meaning of Form-120 out of all the explanation i narrated to the OP is too funny and a mare show off in order to undermine my effort. Lets work together for the continuation of Nairaland. I can write 3000 words long essay explaining each pages of Form-120 but at the end i will summarise it to mean " USA Term " for Admission Letter.

Best Wishes 🙏

Good afternoon guys. I'm sort of confused. Kind of I'm a novice when it comes to US immigration and stuffs. However, I recently got admission to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Which happens to be a private university, although I was extremely happy wen I saw the email, but the tuition fee is outrageous even after they offered about $25,000 Dollars merit scholarship. Additionally I have a sponsor, but the tuition is too high for him. How do I navigate this.

Hey 🤠

1. The only way to navigate your situation is to discontinue the process if you have not started the process of your Form-120.

2. The scholarship the school gave you is not a merit scholarship but an entrance-scholarship which is now a new gimmick from most schools (especially private and fame-seeking upcoming institutions) in order to lure prospective international applicants.

3. A double whammy awaits you in the presence of the consular if you forced your ways into it. I am supposing that the school's admission is flexible. Look out for a Public University.

Best Wishes 🙏

Hello,

Sorry about your situation.

From what you have described, it appears there is nothing you can do.

An alternative you can consider exploring however is to switch to Abuja and see if dates show up.

Gman08:
Please i need advice, I am not getting a date for an interview in Lagos. I paid a new visa fee last year in July 2023 after being denied a student visa with partial funding. The new visa fee will expire on 24th July 2024. I have sent several emails through the provide feedback but they haven't given me an interview date. The site recognizes my visa fee reference number, but they have not yet given me a date. See what I do see on my profile. I will be grateful if anyone can assist me with any helpful information on the next step to take.

Been trying to complete sevis fee payment for some days now and been having issues, while interview is tomorrow.

Is it safe to go for the interview while I still wait for the sevis to be processed or I just wait till it’s processed?

How are you processing it? Tell the person to go to the nearest Western Union to pay. The receipt should be sufficient for you.

He can pay the visa fee and book an appointment date but considering the interview wait times, unfortunately, he'd have to defer his admission to Spring '25. The next available dates are from November '24.

At best, he can have more time to seek funding. COA of 49k is quite a lot. Some funding will help lower the financial burden on him.

Just want to confirm if the Ivory coast route still works and the cost of doing it if one suspends to spring 25, is it easier to get a date then?

Initially paid last week. But they messed the payment up and we only just found out when I didn’t get payment confirmation.

Unfortunately, today Western Union is actually down in Dallas.

Hey 🤠

1. You do not have a choice than to attend your interview otherwise you will forfeit your MRV if you play truant tomorrow.

2. There are few situations where SEVIS fee payment failed to reflect or reflected at a later time, therefore the embassy is still having the impression that you must have paid.

3. However, you are in a dicey situation because a hardline consular might think that you wanted to out-smart the embassy or that you are an unserious F1-VISA applicant.

4. If luck is on your side and you happened to have passed your interview then you may be placed on 221g in order to go and sort your SEVIS payment out.

Best Wishes 🙏

That's a serious issue but you could go with the receipt you got from last week perhaps, they will let you in and then you can explain to the visa officer.

Funding from school: $17,220

Me: Good morning ma
Vo: So you are going for your bachelors in Business Administration and Management?
Me: Yes I am….(I wanted to talk more about it but she cut me off)
Vo: what will you be studying under it?
Me: (I was confused so i repeated it) My course is Business Administration and Management
Vo: No Bus admin is the general term so what will you be studying under it. Or you don’t know what you’re going to study?
Me: (I realized she was asking what is my concentration) No I do. It is Management information Systems….(I wanted to talk about it but she cut me off again)
Vo: Apart from the scholarship how would you fund the rest
Me: My aunty is sponsoring me. she’s the CEO of ——— A company that deals in oil and gas
Vo: (Okay and she started typing)
Vo: what will you be doing after graduation?
Me: I will be returning back to Nigeria to take an entry level position at (my aunts company) and then work up my way to my final goal of becoming a financial manager because I want to contribute to Nigeria’s growing economy my directly impacting the financial success of a company in Nigeria.
Vo: (she started typing for a while then gave me the blue paper)

No document was asked

I’m thinking of reapplying but I’m not sure because my start date is getting close

You see that. “I’ll be returning to my aunts company and work my way up” lol. The agent that gave you that format is a clown.

The denial is justified. I can tell you’re not a genuine student just by that response lol. It’s a cliche.

Those guys in Dallas or whatever are just trying to scam you. Lol.

SEVIS fee payment is well known in most Dallas western Union center.

If I can successfully pay Sevis fee in a rural village in Idaho, I see no reason why your Sevis fee payment has turned to a rocket science lol.

Visa officers now are looking for the slightest mistake to deny you visa lol.

But I am a genuine student. It’s my actual plan—I do not plan on staying in the US after my studies. Should I have lied and said something else? Everyone always says to be truthful during the interview, but now you're saying the truth is cliché. What are we meant to do now?

ignoring the post study plan. Funding is most likely denial factor here. You have a deficit of $22k, white people don't believe anyone outside your direct parents maybe to some extent sibling will cough out that amount of money for an extended family member. Remember you are going for undergrad so you will be spending that four times if no other funding comes in subsequent years. That is a lot of money for an Aunt to be paying when she will have her immediate family to cater to. Except you are able to explain maybe you lost your parents and she has been the one taking care of you all these years. Going back with same aunt sponsoring and same deficit will most likely have same outcome. If your partners are alive, using your dad or mum as sponsors is better, your aunt can pay the fees in reality but you use them for the interview process.

She’s not married and she doesn’t have kids. And her bank statement is solid. Well I’ll see what I can change. Maybe I should have explained more about that.

Good Evening All, Hope we all had a stress free day.

Kindly I will like to confirm from people that have been to the embassy before if handbags are allowed inside the embassy or you have to just enter with your document folder.

Thanks in advance…..

Handbags are not allowed. In Abuja you can only go in with your folder containing documents and phone which will be deposited with the security inside after CGI check and you are given a tag for it. In Lagos they say you can't even go in with phone, just your documents. Both both places have people outside who run business with keeping of bags and valuables which is at your own risk as the embassy has no business with them.

Actually not all of their staff have the technical know how to get that payment done. First guy who did it last week made a flimsy mistake, and at the time of my post Western union was actually down. However, we were able to complete payment at a later time yesterday and got it sorted.

Luckily the VO also saw it on their portal or whatever today before the interview.

Thanks.

Like scholar mentioned. The way you put together your answer wasn’t right.

There has to be a solid reason why an extended family will want to sponsor your education, I’ll suggest reading up transcripts of those who got approved using extended families as sponsors so you’re better prepared on your next attempt.

All the best.
