Chapter 149

We stood near the agency i had visited and talked. Sule said he had brought $500 for the ticket but like i had suspected, said that he want to buy the ticket by himself.

''It is Ok, here is a travel agency. Lets do it fast so that she can return today, its Christmas'' i said as i pointed to the glass door of the agency.

We walked in there and sat in a waiting chair. Somebody was being attended to. The agent had seen me and had recognized me instantly. He had tried to stare at me but i was fast enough to turn away and looked at a large calendar of Royal Maroc airline on the wall.

When it was our turn, i decided against going there at the desk. I had prepared Audrey pretty good.
''We need a ticket from here to Dakar and back today'' Sule had said.
The agent pressed his computer keyboard several times and announced that it cost $500.
''No, it is $499.99'' I shouted from my seat.
''Na the same thing'' Sule turned and said to me.
There was no need arguing more. Apparently Sule was smart enough to know that $500 and $499.99 were the same while Ozoigbondu didn't know that. I was apparently a novice.

After writing the ticket, we all got outside. The Dakar flight would leave HB international airport Abdijan by 1:25pm. The time was still 10:15am. Mathematically, Audrey still had over 3hours before her flight. As a result, we walked around until Sule got a call, wished Audrey safe Journey and left.

When Sule left, i told Audrey to take a cab and return to the hotel while i stayed back at Le Plateau and monitored things. I figured Sule could return. I had taken the ticket from her and returned to the agency who refunded me $450.

At about 12pm, Sule called. He said he wanted to talk to Audrey before she left for the airport. I told him that she had already left for the airport.

Then i switched on the recording application on my phone and started probing Sule.
''But while we wait for her to return from Dakar, where can i see this Chemicals for the washing of the currency'' i asked.
''You cannot see it. The owner said that we must bring the money complete before he can take us to where it is'' he said.
''But how are you sure the man is not going to run away with the dollars'' i asked again.
''I trust him, he can't do that'' he said.

Trust: Such a strong word. Most of the bad things that happened between us and the people we knew was as a result of that word 'trust'. It made people vulnerable to cheat, deceit etc. The best defense against that word was suspicion.

''Ok, i understand but remember that if we give you the $5000, the total of our money in your hand will become $11,000'' i said and quickly cut off the phone. I didn't want to record the last thing he was going to say. I was looking for evidence to implicate him if he managed to track us down after he must have found out that we counter-scammed him. I sat at a restaurant and wondered what must be going on in his mind. I had switched off my phone. He must have been calling

Back to find out what i meant when i mentioned $11,000.
After lunch, i took a cab to the hotel. Audrey was sleeping when i returned. I opened my phone and called her, she said she would come to my room when she was ready.
Three beeps had come to my phone while talking to Audrey, they were text messages. All three from one person. A certain Nigerian named Sule.
''Why your phone no dey go again'' read the first message.
In the moment of stress, we use our familiar language. Sule had switched from Queens to Pidgin English.
''Na wa, wetin do your phone naa'' the second message said.

Meanwhile the third one was more of a threat. I had anticipated that anyway. One problem with the amateurs was that they got worked up easily and lose their tempers.

''Wetin be this rubbish, why you come switch off your phone again, abi you people no dey follow for line again'' it said.

I decided not to send him any message. Text messages were very implicating.

He called back as soon as i finished reading his messages.

''What kind of messages did you sent to me'' i asked before he could say anything.

''Sorry, where are you now'' he said.
How on Earth did he intend to cover the messages with just a 'sorry'?

''I am going to the airport to wait for my friend'' i said.
He hesitated a bit before telling me to call him as soon as i got there.

When a knock came to my door, i figured it was Audrey but still i had to be extremely cautious. I had committed an offence and the next thing was just to be very careful.
I dialed Audrey's number and heard it ringing at the door. I opened the door and let her in.
''Did you get the refund''she asked as soon as she sat down.
I nodded and brought out the money.
''How much do you want from it'' i asked.

''Nothing, i don't need it'' she said.

''You know baby, i wanted to punish these scammers. That's why i did that'' i said.

All along, i had been thinking that Audrey and I were on the same boat over the money but i was ashamed and disappointed when she declined taking any money. She obviously participated in the scam because she believed she was helping me.

I folded the money and threw it on the table. Then i called Okey in Lagos.

''Tell me where you are, i want to give you your money back'' i said.

Okey asked what money i was talking about but i hung the call up.
Then after two minutes, he called back.

I told him in Igbo language that the call was meant for another person. He was at the village for Christmas.

I only made the call to Okey simply to make Audrey believe that i was returning the money to Sule.
I wasn't going to return the money. We Africans were silly sometimes. If i return the money to Sule, he would definitely demand for the $50 the agent had taken or even start a scene.
Let him pay for attempting to scam me. I would be watching my back from then on. I would avoid public places and would also move alone as much as i could. If he ever caught me, i would find a way out...

And he caught me, yes, Sule ran into me.
" The world is so competitive,
aggressive, consumive, selfish and
during the time we spend here we
must be all but that."

Chapter 150.

It was on December 26. I had gone out to a Sports bar to watch an English premier league match. I had just settled down on a sofa and ordered for a glass of whisky when someone tapped me on the shoulder. As i turned around, i saw Sule with one other guy standing behind me.
''Come outside'' Sule ordered.
There were a lot of people in the bar, mostly the Ivorian young men who had either came to support Manchester United or Arsenal.
''Come out to do what, don't you see the game is about to begin'' i said and remained where i was.

''I want to ask you something, come out now'' He said again.
The bartender had just came with my glass of whisky as i stood up and shouted:
''Get out from here, i want to watch this match''
''This man here is disturbing me and i am going to call the police if he continues'' i turned and shouted at the bartender.
He saw that i was angry, then he ordered Sule and his friend to leave the bar. Some Ivorian young men had turned towards us and was telling Sule and his friend to leave now. Some where calling them bad names such as '419 Nigeriana'.
They sensed Danger and left. As soon as they stepped outside, i got up and stepped out too. I looked from the entrance door and saw them walking down the right side, then i waited for them to go far before i walked out through the left.

I got to the end of the walkway and found out that the road ended there. The place was a close. The only way out of the place was to jump the dwarf fence. As i place my hands on the fence to jump, i saw two dogs walking inside the premises where i was supposed to jump into.

I got down and walked slowly back to the bar. At the entrance of the bar, i stood and thought about my next move.
'Don't panic, think, there is always a solution to every man-made problem' my mind told me.
The two immediate options that came to me was to either find a way to call the Police to the bar or simply walk down and face them.
Facing them alone was dangerous since they could have gone to regroup or could have been waiting for me somewhere knowing that i would definitely come out after the football match.
'There is always another option, think' my mind said again.

I went into the bar and sat down near three Ivorian men who had called Sule and his friends bad names.
''Monami, do you speak English'' i asked one of them. He nodded and said 'little'.
From the T Shirt he was wearing, i figured he was an Arsenal supporter. I was a Manchester United supporter but since i had nothing that revealed that on me, i decided to support Arsenal that afternoon. If i was going to make them my friends, i had better started being an Arsenal fan. The consolation was that it was just a temporal support.
''We are going to punish Man U today'' i said.
Two of them laughed and shook my hand while the third guy looked scornfully at me, apparently he was a Man U supporter. Well i needed to be more careful but gaining two out of three was still better than gaining one out of three.
''Bartender'' i shouted.
The young bartender came to me.
''Give us drinks'' i said. I ordered for a glass of whisky while they all ordered for beer. I had figured that if i had to win their support, i better start spending the money from Sule.
I had the entire $450 from Sule with me. Another option that came to me was to just go, if Sule and his group caught up with me, i would simply give them their money. The problem once more was that they would want to fight since their original hopeful plan of stealing $5000 from Audrey had been lost.

As we drank, Manchester United scored a goal. It was from a certain Ryan Gigs. People were jumping up and down, including one of our new four-man Drinking group. I nearly shouted goallll! too but i was acting an Arsenal fan script.

As the match went on, we ordered for more drinks. After over ninety minutes, the game ended. We all cheerfully went outside. The match had ended 1:1. A man named Henry Thiery had equalize towards the end of the game. People were arguing over whether Arsenal should have gotten a penalty. A certain referee named Howard Webb was being accused of being a Manchester United referee. The Arsenal fans were shouting that he denied them a clear penalty.

We walked down through the right side, the same way i had seen Sule gone.
Then we saw them, Sule and his friend. They had been waiting at a small open bar along the way.
They saw me with the three Ivorians and stood up. One of the Ivorians had recognized them.
''See the 419 people'' i said while pointing at them.
My new friends had been tipsy after three bottles of beer each. They weren't interested in what the problem was between me and Sule.
I was going to deny Sule anyway. He didn't give me any money, he only bought a ticket for Audrey.

I made it clear to Sule and his friend that i was with the three men, by simply laughing and joking with them. We walked past the standing Sule and his friend as they watched me without knowing what to do. We got to a busy area and i stopped a cab. I waved goodbye to my new friends after collecting one phone number from them, then i drove off to my hotel, watching my back at all times to check if i was being followed.
Audrey was home when i got up. She was packing her bag.
''Ich Gehen wieder nach France bei morgen'' she said.
I sat down and watched as she packed.
''I am going to miss you so much Audrey'' I said.
She stopped what she was doing and hugged me slightly.
I told her that i would be in Europe soon and that i would get in contact with her. She gave me her number in France and her email address.
When she finished packing, she took me down to the restaurant and bought me dinner and drinks. She didn't ask anything about the Sule money. As a matter of fact, i needed her out of the way. I still had over a week to spend in Abdijan which meant that i was likely going to run into Sule again. I wanted to fight them without Audrey standing in the way.
We got up, went into her room and... Played.

Chapter 151

Audrey left for Paris the following afternoon. It felt like i had lost a girlfriend. She was a very friendly beautiful blonde who didn't care about kissing in public.

I had followed her to the HB international airport where she had boarded Air France jumbo jet to Charles De Gaule international airport Paris.
Somehow i felt that i had lost Audrey's trust due to how i used her to steal the money from Sule. She would never understand that revenge and retaliation were the things that usually motivated me.
I loved to mind my own business but anytime someone felt that he or she was clever enough to scam me, wrong me in anyway and go free, i usually gave the situation serious thoughts and analysis which usually resulted in retaliation. I had been wrong in some of my analysis and modes of revenge but my brain was programmed to operate that way.

When i returned from the airport, i went to the Police station at Treichville and reported that Someone by the name of Sule was threatening my life. The Police officer who attended to me asked who Sule was, how i met him, what happened between us etc. I told him most of the things that happened, how Sule had approached me to give him money that would be multiplied into thousands of Dollars for me, how i told him that i had no money and how i connected him to a French girl, who he bought a flight ticket for and how the girl had left back to Paris. After my statements were written down, he gave me his personal phone number and i left.

From the Police station, i drove straight to the travel agent who had sold the ticket to us. He was there when i came. Business had returned to the city. It was December 27.
''My man'' i greeted him.
I told him that Audrey had traveled back to France.
''The boy who paid for the flight ticket to Dakar is disturbing me and the Police has been involved. However i told the police that he bought the ticket for the girl. I came here to tell you this because the Police may come here for investigation. If they come, tell them that the girl from Europe returned and took her money back. I would have asked you to tell them that she changed the ticket from Dakar to Paris and gave you more money BUT they could ask you to print the ticket from the database. Therefore, just tell them the girl returned and you refunded her, simple'' i said.
He saw my logic clearly and nodded. He was already involved and the best thing to do was to play along.

After the visit to the agent, i called one of my area boys to celebrate the new plan. I wasn't interested in confronting anybody but i was sure Sule would like to fight or get his money back.
When my Ivorian friend arrived, we went to a club full of Nigerian and Ivorian girls. As we sat in a corner drinking, i contemplated on whether to go for a Nigerian or Ivorian girl. Nigerian girls outside Nigeria had only one thing in mind; Money. Therefore i decided to go for Ivorian girl. I called one of them dancing on the floor.
Her name was Isabella.
''I am Austin'' i said as she sat down. She introduced herself as Isabella and said she wanted gin and tonic.
I gave her money to buy the drink and also bought more for me and my friend.
Isabella knew that i was a Nigerian. It seemed that most of the Ivorian men behaved like the French men. They hardly bought drinks for their women, rather everyone paid for his or her own drinks.

Behind the club hall was another club where a kind of sexx dance called Mapouka was being shown on a large television on the wall. Few people were there as the price was higher than that of the regular club house.
I excused myself from my new area boy and gave him $20 to enjoy himself, then i took Isabella to the Mapouka hall. We took our drink along.
I sat on a sofa beside Isabella and watched as the naked men and women danced and touched and caressed and kissed and fvcked. It was my first time to watch such videos and it was fun.
My dickk had even started getting excited. Isabella noticed that and started rubbing it right there inside the hall.
The sex dance hall was designed to accommodate only couples. If you came alone, you won't be allowed inside.
All the men there came with women. The small hall had about seven two-seated sofas which meant that it can only contain about seven men and seven women. One seat was still vacant. We were about twelve in the small hall. I took a quick time out to analyse the hall because i hated surprises. It was always better to be acquainted with whatever place you found yourself.

As we sipped our drink, my dickk was being rubbed by Isabella.

''How much are you going to cost me Isabella'' i suddenly asked.
''Just $100'' she said and smiled. I giggled.
''This $100, what and what will it cover'' i asked.

''I will stay with you until daybreak, i will suck your manhood, i will fvck'' she said.
Well, everything she said was worth that amount. I didn't want to argue but i simply asked her how much discount i would have if i decided not to go home with her. She asked if i would still fvck since there were chalets in the club house.
I eventually agreed to take her home. She was an Ivorian, my first. It was only reasonable that i took her home to get the best of the Ivorian treats. $100 wasn't such big money for an international treatment.

After over an hour at the Sexx dance hall, we went outside and entered one of the already waiting cabs back to the Ben Residence hotel where i lodged. As soon as we got into the room, i mentally checked where all my money was. I had hidden a large chunk behind a pipe in the bathroom, then i had hidden some inside a pocket of my Jean trouser inside my bag, some where in my wallet. It was better that i Separated them since no thief could steal all of them at the same time. I needed to be careful in Abdijan since i knew nobody to give me money there.

After a few sips of whisky inside the room, Isabella suddenly stood up, slipped out her short gown and sat beside me on underpants and bikini. It was time.

Chapter 152

Isabella was half Liberian and half Ivorian. Her father had lived in Monrovia where he met her mother. She had been born in Monrovia in 1985 and had lived there until the civil war broke out, then she had returned to Ivory Coast with the father.
I wanted to tell her that i didn't need all the above story about her but there was nothing else to do except fvck and talk.
She had also demanded to know about me.
On my part, i was a movie actor in Nigeria who had come for vacation in Abdijan.

''Wow! I want to follow you to Nigeria, i want to become an actress'' she said as she began to announce names such as Patience Ozokwo, Genevive Nnaji, Nkem Owoh and one Omotala something.
''Do you know them'' she had asked.
''Of course i know them, we all work in the same industry'' i had replied.

''What movies did you acted on'' she had asked.

Damn! How on earth did i choose that line of lie?

''Children of Gods', Have you watched it'' i had said.
She didn't know it.
I wasn't going to continue on that line of discussion, therefore i slipped my middle finger into her cunt and that effectively ended the movie question & Answer.

Her nylon Brazierre was transparent enough to see the tip of her breast pointed out. I kissed the breast twice while still inside the Bra and when i didn't get the necessary satisfaction required from such action, i pulled the Bra down and sucked on the two hard pointers. She had started moaning as i sucked and fingered her at the same time.
''Oh baby'' she said time and time again as i increased the tempo of my fingering. She had started moaning louder that i even feared that people could here her from the outside corridor.

Then all of a sudden, she got up and pulled down my trousers. I had stood up to help remove the trouser as fast as possible. My standing dick was already attempting to tear through my boxers. She pulled the boxers out too and grabbed the hard dickk with both hands before putting it inside her mouth as if she was going to swallow it.
The pleasure was extra ordinary. Isabella was an expert sucker of dickk. She would pour some saliva on it and licked them with her tongues. She was really working for the $100.

When she declared herself finished with the Mouth Action, i pulled her up and removed her underpants, then turned her around to hold the edge of the bed while i slipped a condom on my Joystick.

''Baby Bleep me harder'' she was yelling.

'Hey! I was doing my best' i thought as i pumped her from behind for several minutes before we climaxed at the same time.
After disposing off the used condom, we laid on the bed and held each other like lovers. Her warm body was sweet to hold. I had resisted the urge to kiss her but when she looked deeply into my eyes, i smiled and kissed her.

I didn't know why she gave me that deep look but she was really planning to go to Nigeria with me, she would be disappointed.
I patiently waited for that lie called ''I love you'' but it didn't come. Atleaset it reduced
The 'going to Nigeria with you' pressure.

After the second round of intensive sexx, we took our bath and slept.

When we woke up in the morning, She didn't want to go. I wanted to tell Isabella that i lied about being an actor but that would have shattered her already realised dream of sleeping with a Nigerian actor, but still i had to find a way to tell her to go.
''I need to go somewhere now, get up and get ready, you are leaving'' i said.
She asked if i would return to the club in the evening.
''Of course i would return to the club to pick you up'' i had said.

She got into her cloths, asked for my phone number and her money, then she left.

My Motorola mobile phone had been switched off since the previous evening. In fact, i had been switching it off most of the time because of Sule. I knew he must have been calling me every now and then and i was right.

After giving my number to Isabella, i left the phone on and a call came. It was from Audrey. She asked why my phone had been switched off. I couldn't tell her that it was dead battery since the Ivorians boasted of constant electricity.
''There was no other person to talk to since you left, so i decided to switch it off. I am missing you'' i lied.

She said she arrived in Paris safely before taking a TGV fast train to Strassbourg near the German border.

Another call came into the phone while i was still talking to Audrey, it was from Sule.

The rat had decided to disturb my life because he gave Audrey $500 for a ticket to Senegal. Right there on the phone with Audrey, i decided to put an end to the entire Sule affair.

After talking to Audrey, i knew Sule was going to call back, therefore i left the phone on the table near me. He called. As usual, i switched on the recording application.

''Hello Alhaji Suleman, have you brought the chemical to wash the money because i have the $5000 now. I told you to have patience'' i said.

The rat bought into the trap or maybe not.
''If you bring the money, i will go and get the chemical today today'' he said.

He also asked where i was.

''I will be at the Sports bar tomorrow afternoon. I will come with the money. Make sure you have the chemicals to Wash the money standby'' i said and hung up.

Since he was going to stalk and make life miserable for me in Abdijan, i was going to scare him away permanently. Scaring him away could be anything ranging from ending up in Police cell, to a police chase or even deportation back to Nigeria or 'leave town'. I didn't know the types of documents he had with him but i had every required document as a holiday maker.
I wasn't really interested in the scamming occupation but trying to scam me meant that i took some necessary action. Every illegal thing had its consequences.
Back in Germany, the police had invaded my place numerous times and i had as a result ran away to Portugal.
I had fallen into Madam Grace's business in Portugal and had ran out of the Country earlier than i had wanted. Those were the consequences.

Chapter 153: The police net

The following morning, i called the police man who had given me his number. He asked me to come to the station immediately.

I got to the station and played the recorded message to him. He was impressed. He said he would send four policemen on mufti to pick up Sule. Before 12pm, I called Sule and asked him to be at the bar by 1pm; he agreed.

By 11 am, the Policemen were at the bar before me. I had decided to stay back and wait until Sule called and said he was there. A few minutes past 1 pm, he called and said that he was at the bar. I was close bye and as a result, i walked slowly towards the sports bar but before i got there, i saw about four thug-looking men coming after me.
Damn! I had anticipated such move from Sule but i had thought they would lay their ambush somewhere very close to the bar.

I moved faster and watched them moved faster as well, then i started running towards the bar. One of them, the fifth guy came out of nowhere and grabbed me.
''You think you can run away from us abi, your own done finish today'' he said. He was a Nigerian.
I slipped from him and sat down on the floor along the road. I knew that in a matter of seconds, people would begin to turn their attention towards a man sitting in the middle of the road and refused to got up. The other four people with Sule had approached us and had rounded me up.

''Towa towa towa'' the sound of gun boomed over our heads as every body scattered in all directions. It was the Police.

Sule, who was holding the neck of my shirt and dragging me up was surprised as i grabbed his right leg and held it while others scattered in all directions.
The police men grabbed Sule from me and knocked him on the head. He was now sitting on the floor beside me.

''Is this the Sule'' the police team leader asked.
I nodded since i was still breathing fast from the event that just took place.

Another police kicked him and pulled him up.

I got up and followed them as they dragged Sule to their private Mercedes car parked two hundred meters away from the scene.

''You are the guy who own the chemical to wash money. You will take us to the chemical today'' one Police said. He was the only one who understood at least over 50% English.
Four of us entered at the back of the car while two entered the front. We drove off to the Police station and got there several minutes later.

Sule had torn my shirt while trying to drag me up from the floor. He had also kicked me once when he newly arrived at the scene.

''So you and your thugs had come here to kill me'' i asked him inside the car. The police man asked me to shut up and i did.
We drove in silence to the police station and stopped at the entrance gate. Sule was on handcuffs as we entered the police compound and went straight to the counter where Sule was pushed inside to sit. His cuffs were removed. I was taken to the water tank to wash off the dirt on my cloths. The Captain was waiting for me to finish and come to his office.
Ten minutes after we arrived at the Police station, we were ushered into the station captain's office. He sat behind a large desk while i sat on a chair facing him. Sule sat at the right side of the Police captain and was flanked by two armed police men.

''Lets have you Carte d'identite'' The Police captain said.
I brought out my international passport which i had carried with me since i arrived in Ivory coast. Sule brought out an identity card he claimed was issued by the Nigerian embassy in Abdijan.
Our names and dates of birth were written down.

He asked what we were doing in Ivory coast.
''I am on vacation from Nigeria'' i said and brought out my flight ticket which was folded inside my international passport.
Sule on the other hand claimed that he lived and worked in Ivory coast.
He was asked what he did for a living in Ivory coast and he claimed to be a businessman. He was also asked the kind of business he did which he claimed to be importing laces from Nigeria to Ivory Coast. He claimed he was a supplier.

After the basic questions of who we were and where we came from, the Captain turned his questions to what happened at the Sports bar.
He started with Sule.

''My men said they caught you beating this man. Why?'' the captain asked.

''Officer, i saw some people beating him and i tried to help him up. Then your men came and arrested two of us and brought us here'' Sule said.
I let out a loud laugh. One of the Policemen asked me to stop and i did instantly.

After writing down what Sule said and asking him more questions, he turned to me.
I fumbled in my pocket and brought out my phone, then i dialed Sule's number. It started ringing in his pocket. He brought it out and looked at me.

''This man who called himself Sule here is a liar. I met him at the Grand bassam beach a few days ago. He approached me where i was with a French girl and said that he knew a man who has chemical that can turn papers into money. He said he needed money to get the chemicals and that he wanted me to convince the French girl to get the money. I told him that i wasn't interested but when he threatened to approach the French girl by himself, i called the French girl and told her what he said. The girl agreed that she will get the money but asked for plane ticket to go to Dakar and get the money. This man sitting here offered to buy her the ticket. I went with them to the agency where they bought the ticket. That was when i told this man to give me his number. However the French girl disappeared and this man started disturbing me to provide her. Then i came here to report him to you. You asked me to track him down for your men but when i was doing that, he showed up with thugs and started beating me. His thugs ran away when your men came'' i had said. When i finished, the Police turned to Sule again and asked if he knew me or not. He kept quiet.
I played all the conversations i had with Sule to the hearing of the Police men.
Sule didn't know what to say anymore.
" If you get trapped in the idea that
what is most important is what image
of yourself you're giving to the world,
you're on a dangerous path."

Chapter 154: Thou shall not judge.

''We are taking you to court for attempted murder, attempted stealing by trick and other offences. You are also going to spend ninety days here for telling me lies'' the captain said.
Another officer had started slamming cuffs on Sule again.
''I will reduce your stay here if you give us information that would lead to the arrest of your gang members'' he also said to Sule as the other two men grabbed both of his hands and took him away.
''You can go and enjoy your vacation. We have thousands of these scammers in this Country, unfortunately they were mostly from Nigeria. We have some of them in prisons and we are trying our best to stop them'' The captain said.
I stood up, shook his hand and walked outside slowly.

At the entrance of the station, i took a cab back to my hotel.

New year was fast approaching. My hotel rent had expired and i had deposited money for extra four days. I didn't want to stay beyond January 2.

As i sat in the hotel bar, i thought about the dangers out there. The thugs knew that Sule was arrested. They also knew my face. They could be out there hoping to get me. I would have loved to have a police or two followed me at all times but that was a demand i couldn't make.

As a result, i called the area boy who had taken me to the night club. We met at Cocody district and discussed about a possible attack by the thugs. He assured me that nothing was going to happen as if he could see the future. I didn't believe such things. He said he lived in Zone 4 and asked me to move to that area if i was scared of staying at the hotel. I thought about it but since i only had about four days to stay in Abdijan, i decided to stay where i was.

After our meeting, i called Isabella. She came to me with a cab and we took public bus down to Bassam, i needed to be far from the city center where i could be detected by the scam mobs. There was a local football match going on in Bassam when we arrived. Many girls in short skirts and bumshorts were seen all over the place and i wondered why i came with Isabella. She was all over me, telling anybody who cared to listen, that i was an actor from Nigeria. I had done a good job by covering my eyes with dark sun glasses.
I would wave to people who stared at me and i almost asked them to come for autograph. When the match finished, we went to a restaurant and ate fish. Fish seemed to be pretty cheap in Bassam, i believed it was due to its proximity to the sea.
We also walked around the Bassam city to look around and feed our eyes with the historic structures of that west African old kingdom. We eventually ended up at a palace of one King.

I had seen the magnificent palace and decided to go inside. I figured that it wasn't such a good idea to visit a king empty handed, therefore, i bought a bottle of drink and took it along with us. We were welcomed and given seats. The king had asked why we came. I told him that i was a Nigerian tourist who had found a wife in his country and
Needed his blessings. He gave us coconut to eat and blessed us before we left. He said he had been to Nigeria after the Nigeria-Biafra civil war and that his people were in support of Biafra during the war. His father was the king during the war. They had tried to supply foods to Biafra but was stopped in Badagry by the Nigerian Soldiers and their items were stolen from them. He blamed Ojukwu for not having proper plan before starting the war while he said that Awolowo should not really be blamed for what happened to the Igbo since he was taking orders from the head of state.

I enjoyed his history lessons. We bid him farewell and left back to my hotel.
Isabella slept over with me but didn't get a dime for her services. I had told her that she would come to Nigeria as soon as i got to Lagos myself. She had asked to follow me but i told her that i was going to Bamako first before going back. She believed the lie.

The following day was new year. Bangs had started hitting the sky. It seemed that bang culture was worldwide. I had witnessed it in Nigeria, Germany, Portugal and now Ivory coast.

Chinasa had been flashing my number from Nigeria regularly. She wanted to know when i would return to Lagos. I had changed my phone number back in Lagos and that single act had blacked me out from the lives of many people, especially the women i had dated one time or the Other. It had been long since i talked to Jennifer, Rose, Liz, Daisy, call girl, Zainab and numerous others. I had only given the new number to Maria, Chinasa and Elizabeth in Jakande estate; Maria for Napoli connection, i figure i was going to need them, Elizabeth for quick sexx and Chinasa for love experience, ice cream joints, beaches etc. Everyone of them had her own role to play in the Chapters of my life.

We were already in December 31st 2006. The atmosphere was festive. I had missed my village because all the Christmas that i had spent in Nigeria was in my village. During the Christmas, people returned home enmasse. Girls wo had been born in different cities and towns through out the country would return. It was the time i put my girl-chasing skills at work. I recalled one December i was able to woo four different girls. I was the champion among my peers. They envied me.
But on that very December of 2006, i wasn't able to return to the village simply because many of them believed that i had returned back to Europe. It was such a childish act because i shouldn't have cared, it was my life but we grow mentally with age.

Isabella took me to a different night club where live mapouka was performed. It was at a large hall. The lights were dimmed. As the mapouka dancers performed on stage, people fvcked inside the hall at every available corner. Nobody cared.
Isabella had insisted that we fvcked too since we looked awkward among others and right there inside the hall with over 100 people, we found a semi dark corner and fvcked like rabbits. It was fun, pretty fun.

judgement of the intellect is only part

Chapter 155: A time to run

On Monday January 1st 2007, we welcomed and entered a new Year in Abdijan. The good people of Abdijan were friendly and hospitable. They partied all day and night, giving out gifts to foreigners who dared to spend the new year in their country. I had planned to leave the country the next day, therefore, i decided to have fun, mix up with the Ivorians and dance with them. Isabella had been with me for the previous two days and had refused to leave. I had gotten tired of telling her to go and had decided to just watch since she wasn't demanding for money. As a matter of fact, my money was going down but was till enough. Since i was leaving the following day, i had calculated all my remaining money and stuffed them inside my jean pocket. I wanted to buy some original stuff such as milk in Abdijan before leaving. The quality of milk i saw there was far better than what i had been buying in Lagos. I had planned to travel by air too which meant i didn't have to suffer carrying large loads. I had worn my jean and sports shoes, my eyeglasses. Inside my pocket was all of my documents which i had been carrying around with me, my phone and nothing else. My bag was still in my hotel room with a pair of Jean, one sports shoe, one pair of sandals, two T shirts, a half bottle of whisky and two singlets.

I took Isabella to the Tai national park where a lot of people had been celebrating new year. After the park, we drove to Cathedrale Saint-Paul, one of the largest Churches i had seen in Africa. There were hundreds of people there at the Church for sight seeing and of course prayers.

There! A familiar face. I had seen it somewhere. He looked Nigerian. My eyes had brushed past him. It was as a result of being vigilante. Then i slowly turned and watched him through the corner of my eyes inside my dark glasses. It was him. He was looking at me while making a call. He was one of the people who had chased and caught me for Sule at the sports bar. He looked 100% Igbo man.

I pulled Isabella's hand and moved slowly away from him. We were heading for the exit.
''Where are we going, we just got here'' Isabella protested.
''We just got here and we are just getting out of here'' i said as i dragged her hesitant arm.
''Austin wait, we haven't even seen the alter i told you about'' She said as i looked back and saw the man coming after us.
''Well, go and see the alter, i would be right back'' I said as i quickened my pace and rushed to the entrance gate. Some bikes were standing there. I jumped unto one and asked him to move.

The bike man said something in French, i believed he asked where i was going. But when he saw a man running fast towards me, he tried to start his motorcycle. The machine didn't start, he tried again but it failed. The chaser was very close now. There was no way we could make it any more, therefore, i sprang up from the back seat and jumped on top of him. He fell down heavily from the unexpected attack. People had started looking at
Us as i hit him twice in both eyes and stood up. He had held his eyes with both hands and was shouting. I walked fast down the road and climbed unto another bike.
I pointed to the direction that led inside the city as we drove off. The bike man didn't understand English a bit therefore i just told him to take me to My hotel. About 200 meters to the hotel, i saw some two Nigerians again. I didn't recognize their faces but i couldn't figure out what two Nigerian men were doing there. They didn't look like tourists. They looked more like the residents of Abdijan city. Therefore , i asked the bikeman to turn around and take me to a bust stop where i could get a bus going to Ghana. As he turned, the two men saw me and got up fast. We had driven past them and had turned and driven past them once more. I guessed they saw me when i drove past initialy but when they saw me turn around with the bike, they started up. As i looked back, i saw them got into a car as we turned to a junction. After a sharp bend, i jumped down from the bike, gave him more than enough money and ran into a small walkway. The bike man drove off. As i stood near a door and watched, i saw the car belonging to the two men drove past me. Sure it was them. They were after me. I walked out to the road again and saw them stopped at a busy junction. They were asking someone some questions.

I walked towards the opposite direction and entered a cab.

''Monami, where can i get a bus to Ghana'' i asked the taxi driver.

He understood English.

He took me to Avenue de la Bia where i found a STC bus going to Accra. They said the price was $25 or the equivalent in Cedis or CFA. I paid them in Dollars and waited at a small bar near the entrance of the bus station. I bought a small bottle of whisky and drank from it while i waited for the bus to load up. I was also on the look out for strange suspicious faces. I Saw some Nigerian women and business men loitering around the station, but non of them looked suspicious enough.

At about 6pm, we left Abdijan. We got to a town called 'Abois So' where a checkpoint was located. We proceded to Elubo border. We were searched and cleared to go. The custom officers and their drug agents believed that i had gone there to transport cocaine back to Ghana. They had asked for my luggage but were disappointed when i told them i had none. They asked why i went to Abdijan with flight and was returning with bus. I was getting angry due to their slow process and time wasting, therefore i told them that i had the right to use whatever transport system i wanted. After over an hour at the border, they let us go. We got to Sekondi-Takoradi by midnight. We rested there and ate something. There was a busy area where buses stopped. There were a lot of Nigerian business men, especially the Igbo people who were heading to Abdijan and Monrovia via the city of Takoradi. We Nigerians, irrespective of what others think, truly dominated Business in West Africa.

the suicide braves death, he does it
not for some noble object but to
