i think the way people venture into comedy lately is quite alarming undecided..
some of them have got no sense of humour and go into it simply because a person or two made comments about them being hillarious..
example;check out castro-de-comedian..that guy is like the worst comedian ever..(no hard feelings)..he says dry jokes, makes dry shows, etc

i think there should be a law banning horrible comedians cos laughter is very essential..we all know that its the best medicine
Now this is way too far grin

Port Harcourt seems to have a dearth of quality comedians.
Prince Hezekiah is a fraud of a comedian. Dan de Humorous stopped being funny eons ago.
That is why comedy shows like AY live will sell out when they come into town.

I went to a wedding reception a while ago. The MC comedian resorted to barking to get laugh s.
dearth of quality 'entertainment', have you tried seeing some music videos from most PH artiste bin played by the local TV stations? Sometimes i wonder if the musicians pay the stations to air the songs. The entertainers here really need to step up

it is too early to start your lack of basic education to the world.
you should have waited at least till a few hours when day would have broken or maybe the sun is shining clearly, say around 10 am. That way the heat could make people ignore your stupidity.
Read my original post and spot where I said anything about entertainment.
I specifically mentioned comedians. I said nothing abot TV.
Please carry your silly local stations and shove it up your narrow arse. It is not by force to comment even if it is holiday season.
mumu.

I just watched a hilarious edition of EL R8D on ebony life TV courtesy of EmmaohmyGod and Chigurl. There's this bitter after taste in my mouth because I realized that their sense of humour will most likely die a mysterious death when they become A-list stars. Why are our comedians like this?

I attended a wedding where Bovi was the MC. This was before he became popular. My goodness! We almost died of laughter! He presented us oven fresh jokes in the most unique manner. In fact, he was just something else. He soon became popular and even though he's still funny, (in fact, he's the only A-list star comedian that is still funny, and maybe AY) I have not enjoyed him the way I enjoyed before he became famous.

I have attended weddings/events with AY and basket mouth as MCs and I don't remember laughing even once. Maybe a smile here and there but no full blown laughter. AY is only funny in his shows, outside that, he's just there. But you won't believe it's the same guys that nearly cracked you to death during their hustling days. Even Julius Agwu is nothing to write home about at events. All they do now is charge outrageous fees just to show us their designer suits. Huh? Smh.

American comedians like Kevin Hart, Arsenio Hall, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Robin Williams (RIP) still make us laugh hysterically. So why are our stars forming like this? Could it be the psychological effect of too must hustling? Whatever, someone should tell these guys that this really not a good way of going international.

The moment you mentioned AY and said he was funny, at that moment your comment lost credibility. That dude is the driest man I ever cane across. One thing going for him is this - he is probably the most hardworking guy around.

Serriously I still think Ay is a real business man he uses other comedian to elevate himself and not a bad ideal becuse through him a lot of comedian have made it. As for me I go for Gordons and seyi law only him face they make me laugh sef.

After you confirmed my first point that PH comedians are not trying, i was trying to tell you that the same thing that is wrong with the comedy industry is happening to the music industry too. You misunderstood me and started hurling insults at me. I dont know if you are a musician based in the city. If you are one, tell your guys to step up. The same way u said that AY shows get filled up, the same is happening in the music industry. Who still attends a show where the gate fee is #500 and the guest artistes include Danfo Drivers and co. Like i said, maybe u misunderstood me

I remember stating it clearly in my opening post that AY is funny ONLY in his shows and that outside that he's just there. Does that mean that I think he's funny generally?
Re: This Annoying Thing About Nigerian Comedians by Sweetlemon(f): 3:01pm On Dec 04, 2014
I kept emphasizing A-list comedians here yet people are mentioning C, D, E -list comedians here?
I keep saying that the A-listers get boring once they get to the top and that upcoming comedians are the funny ones and some coconut heads are still telling me that "it's not easy to be a comedian" "if their jokes no fit make you laugh no be their fault is just that your problem is bigger than their joke" As in how much dumber can some dumb skulls get? shocked shocked shocked
