look like its a full squad now. wish we had the luck earlier in the season, we could have settled as a team quickly!

Rooney, RvP & Falcao can't really be here together next season, they all carry names that will refuse to be on the bench with LvG's preferred 4-3-3 needing just one target CF.

Falcao looks highly likely to leave unless a bid comes in for RvP. we can recall Henriquez or Hernandez (very unlikely) while Wilson has a year on loan. if Young can rediscover himself under LvG - Hernandez can become lethal as well.

### this Depay making the rounds is a good player, but with his acquisition, what does that make of Young, di Maria & Nani; assuming Januzaj goes on loan?

It will be a miracle to see Nani and Chicha return to Man United.

* Nani

Feb 27th
The Portuguese international moved to Sporting on a season-long loan deal in the summer, but despite wanting to give life at Old Trafford another shot, he has admitted that communication has been poor.

The winger claims that Dutch tactician van Gaal has not spoken with him since he made the switch to Portugal, and that the communication must get better if he is to return to the United fold next season.

When asked by BT Sport if van Gaal had been in touch regarding his progress this season, Nani replied, as reported by The Mirror: “No. I receive some texts from Ed Woodward. He texted me about the goal and the great season I am having here. I used to speak to Antonio Valencia, but I changed my number so it’s difficult.”

“I knew with the new manager it would be more difficult because of the new system and my position in it.

“I knew it would be hard to play. I decided to go to Sporting because it was an opportunity to come home, feel comfortable, get games and feel strong again.

“At the moment I just focus on my job here. I’ll do my best and get in the best condition I can, then come back as strong as possible and see what the manager or the club want from me.”

As for Chicharito, I think he will not be taken back. Same thing would have happened to Welbeck if he were on loan. Although Welbeck would have stood a better chance due to a number of ways he can be used- utility.

I think it will be a shame if Nani is sold this season. he's done enough to earn a return in my opinion. however, when you look @the number our current wide men & factor the possible Depay acquisition, I agree its not looking rosy for Nani. the Depay guy has 'potential' for now & might not settle in quickly coming from the Dutch league so I believe Nani will represent lower risk & cost. if this was Marco Reus arriving, I won't really care!

Hernandez wants regular shirt & I admire his belief in his abilities, tho unrealistic @ Madrid or United for now, same way its not feasible having Rooney, RvP & Falcao with 2/3 of them on the bench. we need a lower profile, yet experienced & effective CF for squad role - perhaps Henriquez is the answer or Benteke.

Mourinho: Hazard the only option for Player of the Year

Apr 11, 2015 07:43:00
The attacker has enjoyed a superb season for Chelsea, with the club set to win the Premier League title, and he has been backed to win the individual award by his coach

Jose Mourinho says that Eden Hazard is “by far” the best player in the Premier League and believes there can be no other choice for the winner of the PFA Player of the Year award.

The likes of Tottenham striker Harry Kane – who has scored 29 goals in all competitions this season – and Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho have been tipped as potential challengers to Hazard as the season draws to a close.

However, Mourinho has backed the Belgian to beat his competitors to the prize, which was last won by a Chelsea player in 2004-05, when John Terry was rewarded for captaining the Blues to their first league title in 50 years.

"With what he's doing, speaking in a very honest way, it shouldn't even be a debate," Mourinho told reporters.

"If somebody throws other names on the table, it's because they want to sell papers, to throw sand into people's eyes. This player is by far the best player of this season."

Mourinho has also rebuffed the suggestions that the Blues have strolled through the campaign, insisting that this title race has been the most difficult of his managerial career

Chelsea have led the Premier League table since August, and now sit seven points clear of second-placed Arsenal, having played a game less.

But Mourinho said: “No, in England this league is more difficult than the others I’ve played. More teams involved in the title race. First period it was us, United and Arsenal. At this moment, also City and Liverpool and Tottenham.

“The quality of the mid-table teams is also important and more difficult. Has the title race been boring, why? We didn’t dominate.

“It’s more fun when we are champions. That’s the funny moment.”

Van Gaal: Man City not as dangerous as Aston Villa

Apr 11, 2015 09:56:00
The Dutchman believes the champions' short passing game and attacking mindset will play into the hands of his side when they meet on Sunday

The Red Devils warmed up for Sunday's derby with a 3-1 win over Villa on Saturday, with Ander Herrera netting twice and Wayne Rooney also getting himself on the scoresheet.

City, meanwhile, continued their torrid recent form with a 2-1 defeat away to Crystal Palace on Monday that left their hopes of retaining the Premier League title in tatters.

And Van Gaal insists that City's style of play makes them less problematic for United than Villa as the Red Devils look to boost their chances of getting second place.

“Villa were more defensive but I don’t expect City to play as defensively as Villa did, and then you need a lot of focus and concentration in defence,” the Dutchman told reporters.

“A long ball is very difficult to defend. But against City I don’t expect many long balls – and that is why I have less fear against City, in spite of the loss in the last game against them.

“On Sunday we have to wait and see if we can continue our good shape against City. I had more fear for Villa than City because every player shall be motivated and want to win.”

United lost 1-0 to City at the Etihad Stadium back in November after Chris Smalling was sent off, and Van Gaal warns his players must display cooler heads in the heat of derby battle this time around.

"I have started our preparation with talking about red cards – not the red card of Smalling,” he added.

“I am always warning in these kind of games that we have to control our emotion. We have had five red cards. Unbelievable. It is a record in my career as a manager. That is not good.

“Control of emotions is a talent. You have a lot of talents to have to be a professional player and you know when you have already a yellow card you don’t have to make a second foul to get a second card. You have to know that. But also that is a learning process.”

smalling jumped too early......a costly mistake from a young defender. however, he's still 100 times better than pawaful jones.

Hahahahahaha, it's good to find excuses for some players. Smalling also jumped too early against Burnley or a costly mistake from a young defender? Ukwu!

Phil Jones has not even hit 25 years yet. The age central defenders mature, that's even when they have been playing there for years.

Coogar, no argument. Tomorrow is our big match. A match we should win to put one hand in our top four finish.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by SailorXY: 11:33am On Apr 11, 2015
I hope Smalling gets back his spot in central defence. Jones & Rojo did well in the last game tho.

I'll like to see a fully fit Shaw throughout next season, he has what it takes to be world class.

phil jones is a mediocre defender.
age has nothing to do with it. jones has been at united now for 3 seasons & he's actually worse now than when he first came in.

there's no defender that hasn't made a mistake of conceding a goal. you mean vidic in his prime never conceded a goal via a header? rio in his prime never conceded a goal?

this is the manchester XI mash-up, i cannot find phil jones there. smalling is our best central defender by a mile. no debating.

Yeah I saw that on goal, gundogan looks washed up to me, IMO, he's just going to be another falcao

I'm certain we won't sell mata nor fellaini, we still have rooney, if I were gundogan I'd go elsewhere... But if he comes, I think he'd be deployed to the midfield, can't say though cheesy
