Timelines like urs give those of us at the planning stage all the strength and determination to stay positive, focused and resilient in achieving this heart pumping feat.

Just a couple of pages back, Oga Bellong was spanking you for delaying ur search and conversion for ITA money. I'm really happy for you, sister.

Hi all, i am glad to finally make this post. The migration journey for me just ended. God has been EXTREMELY gracious to me. landing in this country with a little less than 1000 dollars in February last year, i have successfully graduated in my masters program, obtained a professional job as an environmental consultant while still on bridging visa, and achieved what i couldn't achieve in Nigeria in 5 years all within a stretch of 20 months. i am grateful to the guidance of so many people on this thread. ie Zenkel who showed me how to arrive australia through malaysia on a shoe string budget of 150k, Boss jennakry who enlightened me on opportunities i never knew existed and others who helped and encouraged me on the journey. i will settle down and summarize some important key information yet to be shared on this forum that will help enable new arrivals find a professional job, and also 476 visa holders looking for extra 5 points on what to do to dodge the english bedrock while drilling through to permanent residence. i will also like to encourage others going through a lot of pain and doubting their decisions especially those who came via school route with their partners, it can only get better, don't loose hope. stay focused, the light awaits you at the end of the tunnel.

grant: 24.10.16

Congrats...your story is quite encouraging. I do need help with a couple of questions and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
i have the 476 temporary visa but i'm a bit curious on how realistic it would be to get a good job (i have a BSc in Chemical Engineering and a Masters in Offshore Pipeline Engineering but with little experience) with this visa class if i choose to relocate to Australia. Also, what are the chances to getting a PR with this visa class if i choose to relocate. I just need advice from fellow nairalanders who are more experienced, would it be reasonable to travel to Australia through this visa class?. Thanks

With all the info on this thread especially for Engineers and how their assessment seems easier compared to others, you are still asking this question?

I expect you by now to get assessment done and apply for PR straight or start the process when you arrive on your 476

I have really gained a lot by joining and reading comments here..I am presently working on migrating to AUS thru d skilled migration path. I need advise on 1. I wrote ielts (general)...and I just learnt it was suppose to be academic. 2. Idepending on my result whc am yet to receive, what chances do I have. 2. I am a graduate of agric- econs & ext...with a MBA, but I recently qualified as an accountant with 10 yrs banking experience. Am really confused abt the occupation to nominate.....although I have been considering the accountant profession....but I don't have any degree in that field....the SOL job list does not even have any banking related occupation....if i assess my Btech in agric and MBa,...will i ve a good advantage if i also asses my banking experience of 10yrs?...I really need help in making a decision. The 476 visa is to an extent, independent of the PR. it doesn't directly contribute towards PR application different from what is already specified under the visa description.
Whether you are in australia or not, you will still have to apply through the same process. With your 476, you can only get more advantage in australia regarding your PR if you can get:
.

- at least 1 year employment in australia, as a chemical engineer or anything related,
- enroll for a professional year program in australia.

Every other application remains the same whether you are in australia or not.

I suggest you read up the whole PR application from the first page and the australian site before asking any further questions.

Hi, concerning ielts, u can use general, I used the same. As per your profession, ur course of study relates to agric consultant or scientists however study both job description to see the one that relates more to ur study, you need work experience relating to ur course if you assess with VETASSES (most likely cos they are the only ones assessing agric consultants). However I wouldn't know if you can use ur MBA instead since it is related to banking. The ppl in the field can shed more light. U can check d csol for professions relating to banking and read up their requirements. My one cent.
