You made a good point! If I am advising Rohr for the World Cup, I will ask him to play Mikel and Ndidi (Onazi) as DMs and play Iwobi in AM. This would help solidify our defence, while unleashing the creative ability of Alex Iwobi. But to play this formation successfully, we'll have to deploy a 3-4-3 formation (with two adventurous wingbacks). I am not sure that we currently have them.

O pari

Mujtahida:

Goodjoe isn't it better Iwobi plays for us through the middle as an AM? He is too intelligent for us to play him from the wings. With Mikel and Onazi/Ndidi behind him that guy can make a beast out of your Nacho (although I still insist he's no CF as such)

Seem you expect him to request for a Tactician from the Board?! He would never ask the Federation to get him a tactics-Specialist coz he also believes in himself as a good Tactician.

However, there is difference between what's good for Rohr and what's good for the Team, thus I expect the Board to do the needful in this regard - the way they did with the recent Recruitment of a Keepers' Trainer.
please to be honest I won't advise the federation to meld into this affairs...

It will destabilise the team and attract the wrath of Nigerians...

Fringes:

It didn't start in Brazil. In USA 94, the Italians, after falling one goal behind very early - and the world had woken up to learn the Nigerian?African unusual style of physical and beautiful play, simply - and tactically - ensured that Amokachi and Amuneke were injured and substituted very early in the game. They got no red cards on their way to achieving this. Zola, who was red-carded (and they still beat us anyway!) much later in the game, earned the red for a totally unrelated occurrence.

Of course, Thompson Oliha, of blessed memory, and my big friend, Mutiu Adepoju who came in for the Nigerian wingers were no perfect matches for the Bull and the flying left winger in Amokachi and Amuneke respectively. That left Rashidi Yekini (God rest his soul) all alone with an Italian Mafia defence, Rashidi could only huff and puff without any results. I have watched that game over and again and even protested about it on FIFA.com!

Yekini was so disillusioned that when now-Chelsea FC Chief, Mike Emenalo, playing as a left back in place of Benedict Iroha and donning jersey 19, eventually cut through from the left and made Yekini a marvelous pass from heaven in the late stages of the second half of extra time, with Nigeria 2-1 down and facing exit from the World Cup, Baba Yekini apparently had forgotten how to take a hot shot first time and blast it into the yapping net. He attempted to 'dress' the ball first to get into a more comfortable shooting position.

That was the end of the story. You don't try that in the face of a storm. The Italian defence recovered in a twinkle of a second and snuffed Yekini and danger out. The Super Eagles crashed and Nigeria's maiden World Cup appearance came to a stuttering end. NIGERIA was later named the second most entertaining team at the USA 94 Mundial, second only to eventual champions, Brazil.

I understand Yekini was awarded something for "Best Behaved Player" at that World Cup. I am not sure.

Bottom line: Europe would NEVER EVER allow Africa to have the best opportunities that can stand in their way. For as long as our players continue to seek 'greener pastures' in Europe for the lucre, and our local leagues are nothing to write home about in terms of officiating and organisation, we would never rule the world of football - and global success in the game of football MAY continue to be a mirage.

My man u relayed d match live and God bless u.

I want Rohr to use d match as a case study for his boys,we lost that match due to a lot of factors,i w never say conspiracy coz we have seen other Africa countries progressed to quarter final and Ghana even had d opportunity to reach semi final

A lot of things happened in eagles camp before Italy match and Mutiu Adepoju should able to tell u much, this is one of d reason am happy for d unity in this present team.

Prior to that match there was a serious brawl between Siasia and Olishe, this made Westerhoff to axe Siasia from d team list and brought in Okocha. After injury to Daniel Amokachie, naturally Samson Siasia should have replaced him and d rhythm of d game w continue coz Italy were under pressure.

We had d game under our control till d tail end but Olishe messed up instead of simple clearance,Olishe decided to win d ball and lost it,this resulted to Italy equaliser.

The penalty given to Italy was disheartening coz Eguavoen just act ignorantly and got punished for it,is a match i hate to remember, winning that match was straight to d final.

Oh Emenalo pass to Yekini, just simple tap in would have done it but Yekini messed it up.One of d worst outing for Yekini in eagles even i w say US 94 his worst outing.

We lost d match due to lack of WC experience and it was glaring we have d best team in d world after Brazil, rating d best entertaining team in d world and 5th best in d world.

Hope this young team w supercede this great performance, they have everything at their disposal to achieve it,depends on d coaching crew ability to approach every game tactically.

Hannover 96 German-Nigerian forward Joel
Noah Sarenren Bazee is back in training after
missing the last two months due to an injury
picked up during one of their pre season games.

Bazee has had a running battle with injuries the
last 18 months, and same demon reappeared

Germania Egestorf-Langreder.

He limped out of the pre season tie in the 71st

months with a ruptured tendon.

The injury has so far kept him out of this
season games for the newly promoted

Owngoalnigeria.com checks on the team

Known for his explosive pace and abilities to
trade good passes, he trained alongside the

Quality is Quality no argument.

How old was Veron French CB when he started playing for arguably the best club side in the world.

It's not totally conclusive but these days once you have got to 18 you need to be showing real potential.

In this regard for me Omeruo has remained stagnant he has got to his peak and is going nowhere beyond where he is now. No wonder he was relegated to the U18 at Chelsea a full international.

Is it Veron of Man United? He's Argentinian not French unless you mean Viera. Point taken though.

Tactically, except we are fooling ourselves, Rohr is an average Coach. He's a kinda Coach that so much believe in Players discipline and commitment on the Pitch.

A kinda Coach that would psyche up his Players to get the job done anyhow they deem fit. If we really wanna excel in Russia, I think a tactically sound Assistant Manager needs to be hired to replace Salisu Yusuf.

On the Players selection for the World Cup; I think the List made by Forgiveness is almost perfect, except Ezenwa should replace Akpeyi, and Ogu makes way for Ajagun. Onazi, Ndidi, Agu, Joel Obi, even Mikel Obi and Etebo can play either DMF or CM, hence at least a natural AM is needed in the Team.

I wouldn't mind if Nwakali is listed for the Tourney to understudy the Senior Colleagues at the expense of Joel/Agu.

I think I support your replacements.

Make Champions League Debut Vs Chelsea

Promising Nigerian right-back Nura
Abdullahi may travel with the Roma squad
for their Champions League meeting with
Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next
Wednesday, October 18.

The Football College Abuja product was
sighted training with the Giallorossi first-
teamers on Thursday morning, fueling
speculation that he may travel with the
Italian club to the English capital next
week.

Abdullahi only resumed training with the
capital outfit this week as he had been
undergoing rehabilitation after suffering an
injury to his right leg in August.

Roma coach Eusebio Di Francesco rates
the youngster highly, so much so that he
has included the defender in his
Champions League roster and on the List
A for that matter.

Towards the end of September, Abdullahi
signed a contract extension, tying him to
Roma until June 30, 2021.

He was named on the bench for Roma's
opening game in the Serie A against
Atalanta on August 20.

Tiago Ilori for me non starter. I could be biased but I've seen him up close and personal and he didn't cut after so many chances at Liverpool.

When Troost Ekong was invited to the national team, he wasn't as good as Tiago Ilori but today he is one of our best defender.

However, you can't judge Tiago Ilori based on his inability to cut it at liverpool-fc because I have seen so many players who fumbled at Chelsea but moved to other clubs to become one of the best in the world.

They are so many of them.

Besides, Tiago Ilori had performed better in the Portuguese, Spanish and French leagues.

2018 World Cup: Nigeria
privileged to have skilful,
committed players –
Amiesimaka

The Super Eagles will bring glory to
Nigeria in the 2018 World Cup in
Russia, a former Green Eagles player
says.

Adokiye Amiesimaka , a former
attacking midfielder , on Thursday in
Lagos said that the players had shown
commitment to the task ahead .

He said , “ I think we are privileged to
have youthful , relatively youthful ,
skilful and committed players. I think
we have a crop of players now that
should be able to do us proud .

“ And most of them , apart from the
goalkeeper who is also brilliant and
the only home- based player, I gathered
all the others are playing in
professional teams outside the
country .

“ And from what I have seen so far,
they can hold their own and it’s
important , and I ’m very impressed
that they are all very youthful .

“ Apart from the Captain who is still
very good and has a lot of experience
to back him up; it will be a delight to
watch the team play an exciting World
Cup in 2018. ’’

The Super Eagles clinched the sole
ticket for the 2018 Russia World Cup
from CAF Group B after a 1 - 0 win over
Chipolopolo of Zambia at Uyo .

I Will sing both National
Anthems should Nigeria meet
Germany at Russia 2018
World Cup – Rohr

Technical adviser of Nigeria’s Super
Eagles, Gernot Rohr has said he will sing
the national anthems of both Nigeria and
Germany should the two countries face
each other at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in
Russia.

Rohr, however stated that his heart will be
with the Super Eagles at the World cup
games.

“I played for Germany. I think I will sing
the two national Anthems,” Rohr was
quoted as saying.

“But my heart is with Nigeria 100 percent.
Its going to be very emotional time for me
if that happens.
“And it’s going to be a special game of my
career.

Rohr also revealed that the Super Eagles
have plans to play a friendly match
against Germany before the World Cup.

“We have already told Germany that we
will like to play them in any of the FIFA
International friendly windows between
May and June provided we are not in the
same World Cup group,” he said.

Questioned about which country he will
support if Germany and France play
against each other at the World Cup, The
German tactician said: “France Vs
Germany? I support both countries but if
both should face one another in Russia,
my heart is Germany but I was born in
France.”

I would like to replace him with Dominic Iorfa, I'm going to watch Dom play against Burton Albion in a few weeks see Hope Akpan, and I'll give my opinion conclusivey then.

Yes I'll put my foot in it for once publicly.

One addition Seyi Ojo as left wing back? Leave out Echiejile his time is over

One other question Is Mikel Agu better than Tega Onomah?

If you leave out Echiejile, you will be looking for trouble.

If Tega Onomah is ready to play for Nigeria today, bros, I go find space shuck am into the list fast fast but that must be after he is tested in friendlies. grin.

Troost-Ekong Reveals Why
He Wants Eagles To Face
Brazil In Russia, List
Eagles Top Men

Nigeria and Bursaspor central defender William
Troost-Ekong has revealed the team he will love
Nigeria to face at next year World Cup in Russia
following Nigeria’s qualification for the
tournament.

Speaking to Voetbalzone.nl Ekong who has
formed a formidable central defence partnership
with Leon Balogun now famously referred to as
‘Oyibo Wall” said he wants Nigeria to face Brazil
or England.

He was however specific on Brazil and wenta
step further to reveal why he would love the
Eagles to face the former World Cup host in
Russia when the World Cup gets underway next
year.

” We now have a very nice team, and right now
we have our eyes on the World Cup draws
which will take place in December. We will
probably meet some stronger teams because of
our place in the FIFA ranking”, Ekong told
Voetbalzone.nl.

” It would be nice to play Brazil or England, for
example Troost-Ekong up against Neymar will
make people ask can he do it? At the 2016
Olympic Games we lost in the semi-final and
then I was looking forward to playing in the final
against Brazil.

” So it would be nice to get the chance at the
World Cup, although the idea that you’re going
to play at a World Cup is very special to me as
a footballer”, he said.

Speaking on the players who make the
difference in the Super Eagles, the Bursaspor of
Turkey man named captain of the team Mikel
Obi and the English Premiership based trio of
Victor Moses, Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi.

” I think we have players who can make the
difference, because we have some excellent
players like Alex Iwobi and Victor Moses who
are playing in the Premier League and also
Kelechi Iheanacho, then Mikel who now plays in
China, but he still a top player.

” There are also players who play in smaller
teams but we are realy a team. We are all at a
reasonable level “.

Honestly i thought 75% of the present squad w make it but am thinking otherwise now.

In our last match we have Iwobi, Aina,Iheanacho, Musa,Agu,Awaziem, Etebo, Akpeyi, Ajiboye, Agu,Agbo,Nwakaeme on d bench, out of these i w pick Iwobi,Iheanacho, Aina, with first eleven meaning we are having 14 likely players to d WC,9 slots still for available for any players who can prove himself.Pls my opinion o

My 14 players

1.Mikel Obi capt

2Ogenyi Onazj asst capt

3.Victor Moses

4.Elderson Echiejele

5.Leon Balogun

6.Ekong Troost

7Winifred Ndidi

8.Alex Iwobi

9.Odion Ighalo

10.Shehu Abdullahi

11.Kelechi Iheanacho

12.Simeon Moses

13.Ike Ezenwa

14.Ola Aina.

The remaining 9 slots are for grab with these 19 players and any Nigerian born players home or abroad.

1.Ahmed Musa must show he is still d same player of 2014 WC and only way out he must change club by Jan or else is out of d team 70/30

2.Awaziem must show he is ready for national team, South Africa match still a reference point, though he is having a good run in his club, likely to make it 70/30

3.Mikel Agu not yet convincing but Rohr believe in him,had a very difficult match against Zambia 70/30

4.Oge Etebo a good midfielder but since South Africa match he is finding it difficult to have a look at by Rohr 70/30

5.John Ogu a very experience midfielder who always in d team but finding it difficult to break into XI. 50/50

6.Uche Agbo a versatile player who can play CB or DMF but not yet not yet tested but surprisedly always making d team 50/50

7.Daniel Akpeyi trusted in d absence of Ikeme but lost his position to Ezenwa due to injury still receiving d knock for his below performance against South Africa 80/20

8.Nwakaeme a surprised call prior to Cameroon and he has been with d team since,a good striker but still await his debut 40/60

9.Dele Ajiboye one of d best keeper in d NPFL league.A deputy to Ezenwa during WAFU Cup,kept against Guinea with calmness and played d ball on d ground with his defender, with lack of availability of world class keeper in d team,he can pull a surprise 30/70

10.Dele Alampasu a young and promising keeper, he has always be with d team but was put on standby against Zambia, normally with sentiment he suppose to be on d train to WC coz he is for d future depends on Rohr choice. 40/60

11.Brown Ideye a forgotten player he was part of d starter and had a good match against Zambia but still looking for another call up since Algeria match. 30/70

12.Kenneth Omeruo one of d most experience defender in d team,he started d campaign with d team but not yet forgiven for his holla against Zambia, hope he rediscover his form, still very much rated by Rohr 60/40

13.Anderson Esiti a powerful midfielder who came in as 2nd half substitute against Zambia in Lusaka but not getting call again since Algeria match. 30/70

14.Ebuhei a young and promising player who need to pledged his allegiance to Nigeria instead of Holland, still waiting for his debut game but still in Rohr plan. 50/50

15.Kayode Olarewaju a very good striker who won d best Austria player of d year before signing for man city and loaned to Girona. He had a comeo appearance against South Africa, hope he get another call 30/70

16.Vincent Enyeama a reputable keeper who has seen it all, highly rated by Nigerians, also highly rated by Rohr.No doubt we lack highly rated keeper and everybody see Enyeama as d solution. The major concern is Enyeama form, just coming back from injury and presently no club..Hope he fix this by January so that he can be available for selection. 50/50

17.Aron Samuel got a surprised call against Cameroon and replaced injured Iwobi in d squad but later dropped from d squad but base on form he shouldn't be near national team, likely Rohr see something good in him 30/70

18.Tammy Abraham a young and prolific striker, highly rated by England and also wanted by Nigeria.Hope things sort itself out in coming months 50/50

19.Nosa Igiebor I know a lot have forgotten him but he was part of early campaigner under Rohr but fizzled out and made a statement that he cannot be a training material. I don't think anybody even Rohr himself remember him. 10/90

Special tribute to CARL IKEME.He made it possible for our qualification,he keep us in d race, anytime i looked back, his performance against Zambia always make me happy, he dived, punched, saved us from defeat, hope everyone remember that goal line saved. This great guy made us to forget Enyeama coz he came into d team as a world class keeper, settling down without issue

When we taught we have seen a capable replacement and real time to see d best of him, sickness came, still on d sick bed looking strong and with strong belief that he w survive it IJN

Carl Ikeme still remain part of d team,d wish of every Nigerian is for u to be part of d team and so shall it be coz u are a warrior and all Nigerians hold u highly for this great qualifications.

Thanks CARL IKEME, guys here wish u quick recovery.

Wow! You just took the bull by the horn by listing the 14 players that should be considered in the team list and listing players that must fight the remaining slots.

However, there are some players you didn't include on your list.

Players like Joel Obi, Onyekuru, Abdul Ajagun, Dennis Bonaventure, Cyriel Dessers, Peter Olayinka, Taiwo Awoniyi, Josh Onomah and Brain Idowu.

And I think Joel Obi should be added to your 14 man list.

Please, forget Nosa Igbiebor, Aaron Samuel and Kenneth Omeruo.

Ahmed Musa Dismisses Reports Linking Him
With January Move To Everton

Suggestions that Nigeria international
Ahmed Musa could be joining Everton in
the January transfer window in the event
that they fail to recall Henry Onyekuru
from R.S.C. Anderlecht are wide of the
mark.

While a temporary or permanent departure
from the Foxes can't be ruled out in its
entirety, the Toffees are not one of the
teams that have made contact with Musa
and his minders.

When contacted to confirm the reports, a
source privy to the situation of the former
CSKA Moscow star simply told
allnigeriasoccer.com : ''It is not true Musa
is joining Everton, they have not
approached him, Leicester City and his
agent''.

Everton are known to be in the market for
a top striker following the departure of
Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United in
the summer transfer window.

Of the 20 teams in the Premier League,
the Ronald Koeman-led side have the third
worst attack with only four goals scored.
Musa scored both goals as Leicester City
beat Everton 2-1 in the third round of the
Emirates FA Cup back in January.

Ex England Manager
Hodgson Tried Stopping
Iwobi At The Airport Ahead
Debut For Nigeria

Former manager of the senior national team of
England Roy Hodgson tried his best to stop
Nigeria World Cup 2018 Qualifiers hero Alex
Iwobi from making his professional debut for
Nigeria last year.

Iwobi made his competitive bow for Nigeria in
their AFCON 2017 Qualifiers against Egypt in
Kaduna, and that effectively ruled him out of
the grasp of England, the team he represented
at youth level.

Hodgson according to Calvin Emeka Onwuka
called the Arsenal forward while he was on his
way to the airport for the qualifiers against
Egypt to persuade him not to play for Nigeria.

” While Iwobi was on his way to the airport for
that qualifier against Egypt. Roy Hodgson was
on the phone to him not to go. That’s the kind”,
the London based publisher of aclsports.com
wrote on twitter.

The Arsenal forward stood his ground and
travelled to Nigeria, where he made his debut
and since then have grown into one of the
senior players of the World Cup bound Nigeria
senior national team.

Bundesliga side, but he is now on the way to
regaining full fitness and possible a debut for
Nigeria.

Owngoalnigeria.com checks on the team
training session can reveal that the 22 year old
