Slavery was an American problem. The holocaust was not an American problem. America only fought the Nazis when they were threatened by the "axis of evil". There are milions of white people who have slavesmasters as their ancestors. Millions of African Americans who have slaves as ancestors.

From 1990 till present, I think that there are about only 10 films that deal with slavery. That is 10 films in almost 30 years. Not good enough.

While the whites embraces the past and try to learn from it where necessary, in our case, our fellow blacks REMOVED History from our curriculum. The whites had absolutely nothing to do with why we don't learn or write History in our institutions. Your fellow blacks caused it. But here you go again blaming them. This is the 20th century and we're independent, what's stopping us from teaching slave topics in our school even though they are foreign curriculum? The excuse that we're using foreign curriculum doesn't hold water. We are just too foolish to realize histories are meant to be retold, preserved and passed down from generation to generation. It's up to us to make it a part of History curriculum. The whites won't do that for u. What have we done as Africans to show the evil the slave trade wrecked on us? By producing IQ-depeleting movies Like Blackberry Babes part 1 to 6.

2) History was already dead in the schools, as noted by your vanguard article.

A christian will never accept that the Europeans that came to pack slaves were God-fearing christians. The bible supports slavery as well. The whites brainwashed our forefathers with christianity.

Then there is islam. The muslim Arabs were the original slave traders of blacks. Slavery is supported in islam. Which muslim is ready to accept this truth.


Oga, the white man carries most of the blame today for us not knowing our history. You cannot argue against this fact. I am not surprised that many Nigerian movie producers cannot make slavery films. The worst is that our producers even paint the white missionaries as good people. Cognitive dissonance does not allow them to see meaning in Chinua Achebe's "Things Fall Apart".

Not withstanding its inability to live up to its genre, I have to applaud the movies showcase of the rich splendor of the African Nigeria customs & traditions( Traditional marriage rites), our various Nigerian delicacies, our awesome fashion sense, etc, many of these elements invoked a nostalgic feeling in me. Though some of these elements were not properly represented/ misrepresented in a bid to achieve humour, but they failed woefully.

We both agreed that whites pioneered slave trade and caused extreme pains on us with it. I'm not arguing that. I'm not also arguing that the whites haven't done enough on the FULL details of our harrowing experience in that era. But what are we doing about it as Africans? What's stopping us from saying our side of the story? If the whites won't tell the full gory stories, why are we mum about it?

These are the important questions to ask. Why weren't the FG trying to involve scholars and historians to interview people that survived the slave trades, the various families affected who lost their loved ones? The FG are busy looting our wealth to care about these things. Those bastards are more interested in taking our money abroad to bother.

We're not helping matters. The whites will never tell the full story and the dumb Africans are too docile to act. Hotel Rwanda was a Hollywood production telling an African story about the Rwanda genocide. How many African-produced films have talked more on the genocide? Therein lies the problem.

In Rwanda, the Tutsis genocide by the Hutus are being taught in schools despite the painful experience behind it, but here in Naija, History which has been massively edited by the whites was removed entirely. Why are we this useless? The whites are to be blamed but the blacks are aiding them cover up their atrocities.

Rather than frightening, I find it very educative. It Gave me insights on the way autopsy is carried out.
Also contains many repulsive and nauseating scenes. I wouldn't call it a typical horror movie though
