Been landlocked doesn’t mean a country will be left behind, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Czech Republic are landlocked yet very successful and accomplish. What is needed is a good reader that’s all . Every geopolitical zone can succeed with a good reader. Nigeria is not landlocked yet we are in a continued decline since independent. 9 Likes 1 Share |

nku5: That lie is not my problem, but you expecting everyone to believe your lies is what i don't understand. Everything about any private port in Lagos was done in Nigeria and will automatically becomes invalid after Nigeria (that's if such exists). So stop making a fool of yourself on a public forum. Being landlocked is not enough to stop a country with good leaders from achieving success.. 9 Likes |

pseudaria: You are both ignorant and lazy at the same time... A simple google search will tell you that Lagos is just one of the three states in the SW that has coastline... Ogun State has coastal line... Ondo coastline is one of the longest and deepest in Nigeria and its been considered by the FG for a port. 3 Likes |

Xerxes2088:Most of you are illiterates, go and study In international law, international waterways are straits, canals, and rivers that connect two areas of the high seas or enable ocean shipping to reach interior ports on international seas, gulfs, or lakes that otherwise would be land-locked. International waterways also may be rivers that serve as international boundaries or traverse successively two or more states. Ships have a right of passage through international waterways. This right is based on customary international law and treaty arrangements. If Nigeria separate River Niger will be international waterways, Igbos and northerners can agree to dredge River Niger to Atlantic Ocean no body will stop them. 6 Likes |

Opexzy: 1. I welcome debates but I don't entertain childish tantrums 2. The Lagos Port is owned by the Federal Government and Dangote's concession of the ports cannot just be cancelled over the dismemberment of Nigeria unless you dont want peace in your new oduduwa republic. Same way a non Yoruba person that owns a house in Lagos can't lose the property if Nigeria is divided. That's international law. Go and read up. 3. Many landlocked countries are the most prosperous in the world. Even many landlocked nations in Africa are 10 times better than Nigeria or Somalia can ever be 8 Likes 1 Share |

Many dummies on nairaland, so dumb to research, several international treaties have established freedom of navigation on semi-enclosed seas. The Copenhagen Convention of 1857 opened access to the Baltic by abolishing the Sound Dues and making the Danish Straits an international waterway free to all commercial and military shipping, Other international treaties have opened up rivers, which are not traditionally international waterways. The Danube River is an international waterway so that landlocked Austria, Hungary, Moldova, Serbia and Slovakia can have secure access to the Black Sea, only illiterates with no idea of Nigeria geography will be arguing that Igbo land is landlocked. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

nku5: See who is talking about debate... Your first post lacks credibility since you can't provide a proof to back your spurious agreement that was signed between SW and the North 54 years ago. Lagos Port is a property of the federal government of Nigeria and it will seize to be one after secession. Every agreement made by Nigeria government dies with Nigeria (More reason investors don't invest in an unstable country). Investors can be given soft landing but on our terms. To your last point it was a typo.. I later corrected it... Switzerland is landlocked, Austria too.. And they are Far ahead of some countries with coastline. 5 Likes |

There's something definitely wrong with the Nigerian youth when it comes to tribalism and nepotism, we accuse our leaders of being tribal/nepotistic but we're worse. Any little post or thread on nairaland automatically becomes a battle ground for tribal supremacy and throwing tantrums. We really need to wake up 1 Like |

7lives: 1. Look at the screenshot about the agreement between Awo and the North before the civil war. http://saharareporters.com/2012/08/13/northern-muslim-elders-reply-asari-dokubo-go-and-read-your-history 2. In the mid 1990s when Yorubas were talking about secession during the MKO Abiola/June 12 wahala, their big men were saying that after all the FG as well as private investments made in Lagos (especially Apapa) that Yorubas think they can secede 3. Over the years northerners have headed Nigerian customs for as long as i can remember, the Buhari administration is not playing around either as they even want the FG to control the inland waterways. We saw how Amaechi was running his nonsense mouth about why Lagos state has no authority over its own inland waterways can you imagine. Let me not bother repeating myself on Dangote's concessioned roads to the port and his control of two terminals there 3 Likes

Another areas many dumb minds don't know is Igboland is blessed with huge gas deposit and coal in Nigeria, if Nigeria separate Igbos will be opportune to harness their resources, just know East will be first to attain 247 power supply if Nigeria separate, industries in Igboland will boom and Igbos are very industrious. 8 Likes |
