I didn't say a woman should not cook for her husband.

I am just implying that it is not a must that a woman must be a good cook.
Emphasis on good cook.

But then I think everyone should strive to know how to make their own meals to their taste.

My best soup may taste somehow to another party. Taste differs.

A good meal needs no description, If you find one anywhere you'll know. Meals can be divergent but taste is near constant!
Strive to cook well and be a good cook for yourself and family, you are not stupid given your children five star dishes at home on regular basis.
It will only help them to bond with you, remember you always and be proud of you where ever they go.

You can be good elsewhere, the idea that women must be good in the kitchen only propagate the wrong Idea that they belong there. It also creates a situation where the man is okay not making food because he believes it is the job of the woman. Making food is an art and some people just don't have it.

Although, I believe every human(male or female) should possess the basic skill to make their own food. The food might not be tasteful but they should be able to whip up something so theu shouldn't starve even if they can afford to buy. Atleast sabi cook noodles.
