Romance / 3 Things You Should Know About Women You Call ‘intimidating by PrinceJustice(m): 2:19pm On Nov 29, 2015

I have been single for almost two years now and yes, just like what you thought, I have been asked why I still am more times than I cared to count.

At first, I bothered explaining. And then, I just grew tired of it and let others think what they wanted. They thought I’m choosy. That I have sky-high standards. That nobody’s perfect for me.

Truth is, I’ve had crushes. I got attracted to a number of guys. But only after a while – after when my feelings were gone – that they admitted to feeling the same. The reason: I am intimidating.

I didn’t know what to make of that. Was it an insult? Was it supposed to make me think of changing? I’ve grown to know better than letting it affect me, and took it as a compliment. Anyway, if you actually took a chance to get to know me, you would realize I – and the other intimidating woman – am the last person who should intimidate you.

But since you didn’t, let me give you three of the many things you should know about the woman you keep calling “intimidating.”

1. She is the living story you will never ever grow tired of reading and listening to.

Guess what, the person who intimidates you is the very same one who will keep captivating your attention. Her life and the elements you find intimidating about her are what you will fall madly in love with.

Her view of the world, the way she expresses herself, how she handles a situation, the things she’s passionate about, the activities she’s interested in, the places she wants to go and explore, her experiences, even how she doesn’t downplay her being smart, the smirk playing on her lips, the crazy remarks that come out of her mouth and the little things such as the rain or the blanket of stars that make her smile so genuinely, it makes you smile, too.

All these are products of her story, and you love them. You love them so much that you tell her story for her. You tell it to your friends, family, colleagues, even yourself in the mirror. You are proud of how she came out of her own storms, of all the things she’s gone through that no one would even ever image she has experienced, with a head held high and a smile that’s brighter than sunshine.

She is exactly the type of woman you want to be with because she can hold her own. Her character alone takes the pressure off of you. She always surprises you. Her going from adventurous to spontaneous makes you feel like you know her, but not really because there’s always something new.

So, if you’re checking her out – if you like what’s in front of you – take it off the market. Dive in and find out her story. You just might not be able to get enough; and yes, that can be scary but it’s nothing compared to how amazing it would feel like. Stop punking out. Go get what you want. Or someone else will and you’ll regret it.

2. She doesn’t need you; she wants you.

Yep. Ms. Intimidation is Ms. Independent. She builds her own career, makes her own money, pays for her own way, and carries her own bags. She has her own friends, hobbies, motivation and passion. She knows herself and what she wants.

Good news! You’re not her father, babysitter or coach!

Don’t mistake my not needing you as not wanting you. My life is busy as it is but the fact that I make you a priority and consider you should speak volumes.

I want you. I chose you of all the men I dated. Why? Because you can give my independence rest at times. You made me realize how it’s okay to let go and let someone take the lead sometimes. You are someone I can trust to make plans (because I’m so bad at that) and carry some weight. You let me be vulnerable without judgments.

There, I admitted it. The woman you find intimidating wants you and all that you have to offer. Goodbye walls.

3. She’s damn normal.

I know of a lot of women who have been tagged as “intimidating.” They are successful, charismatic, articulate, cultured, hilarious, compassionate, and independent. I could go on, but you get the picture. Did I mention intelligent? And smart? IQ as well as EQ.

These same women are stunningly beautiful, rocking stilettos even if it makes them taller than most people because they are confident like that. They strut like everywhere they set foot on is a catwalk, crushing careers by day and partying like it’s the end of the world by night. They do all with mesmerizing grace and style.

We are intimidating because we grab life by the horns and make it the best damn ride possible, and we’re still holding on. We want more of it.

But get this: this intimidating woman also enjoy silence and downtime. Yep, the same woman you are too shy to talk to also bask in just keeping quiet. She believes in the sweetness of doing nothing. She can be clumsy and messy. She gets moved by a romantic movie. She even plays on repeat her favorite music, savoring every word of it while on the road.

The same women who intimidate you have the same fears, hopes and dreams as you. We still have feelings and fairytale dreams. Only less drama.

If you find a woman who walks the talk and you feel like walking with her, do it. She will be floored. She will respect, admire and love you more than you could ever hope. Don’t waste time and buy her stock if you find her on the market. Remember, if not you, someone else.

Remember: “A strong man can handle a strong woman. A weak man would say she has an attitude.”

Poo in beards? Microbiologist tests face fur, finds surprising amount of fecal matter

Beards have long been associated with manliness, wisdom, and badassery, but a microbiologist in New Mexico found they may also be as filthy as toilets.

A group of men in Albuquerque allowed their beards to be swabbed and tested by Quest Diagnostics microbiologist John Golobic as part of a KOAT-TV study.

The results: Golobic told the TV station that several of the tested beards contained normal bacteria, but some were comparable to toilets.

"I'm usually not surprised and I was surprised by this," Golobic said. "Those are the types of things you'd find in (fecal matter)."

None of the bacterial levels found were elevated enough to lead to illness. However, Golobic said, "There would be a degree of uncleanliness that would be somewhat disturbing."

So, what's the secret of poo-free face fur? Golobic recommends that men thoroughly scrub their beards and frequently wash their hands to cut down on the bacteria transfer.

"(Also), try to keep your hands away from your face, as much as possible," he added.

So for the "Usama Bin Ladens" on NairaLand please do the needful grin grin grin

Health / Your Plastic Bottle Is Killing You! The Label Tells You by PrinceJustice(m): 5:34am On May 05, 2015

Stumbled on this interesting piece about plastic bottles, you'ld find it interesting

Bottled water is the bane of my existence as it stands. These companies bottle up tap water from drought-riddled communities and sell it to you for a 1900% profit. It’s one big sham. If you don’t like tap water, just filter your tap water. There are some good ones out there. But make no mistake, bottled water isn’t any better.

Even so, we sometimes find ourselves drinking out of plastic and eating off of plastic. Most of our food comes in plastic! What kind of health risks do these various types of plastic pose to us?

Let’s go down the list.

1. PET or PETE.

These bottles are typically single-use bottles. It’s possible that they emit a heavy metal antimony which interferes with hormonal actions in the body. It can also be carcinogenic.

2. HDP or HDPE.

These one is the “good” plastic. It poses the least threat to human health.

3. PVC or 3V

PVC also emits toxic chemicals that can impact hormones in the human body. According to one study:

Because of PVC’s heavy chlorine content, dioxins are released during the manufacturing, burning, or landfilling of PVC. Exposure to dioxins can cause reproductive, developmental, and other health problems, and at least one dioxin is classified as a carcinogen.

4. LDPE

This plastic is often used to make plastic bags and doesn’t pose a significant health risk.

5. PP

This type of plastic also doesn’t pose much of a health risk. This is the plastic commonly used to package yogurt and syrup.

6. PS

PS emits a carcinogen known as Stiren. This type of plastic is commonly used for food packaging and coffee cups.

7. PC or no label

This is the worst one for food products because it contains BPA, an endocrine disruptor. Often used as sports bottles and food containers

So when looking for the least toxic plastic, look for HDPE and PP. Avoid packaging labeled PETE, PVC, PS and PC.

So next time before taking that coke, kunu, zobo or even water, find out the fate of the plastic bottle.

If something like this is happening after 16years of PDP rule then I can say the north was right to vote out PDP. These people are so wicked that once they are in power they care less about those who voted them in. What is the joy in looting billions of dollars and people die of poverty and drinks same water with goats? How much will a community bore-hole cost this wicked outgoing PDP government? And some dumb Igbo guys will call GEJ their hero for been a sore election looser and accepting his loss. Will Mandela, Nkrumah or Even dictator Ghadafii sit and watch his people drink with goats?

Anything you can not do in the presence of your partner with them smiling at you in the process is cheating as far as I'm concerned.

Kissing is even going too far, there's a way you would hug another girl that your girlfriend would consider as cheating.

The essence is once you're in a relationship, especially one you truly cherish, what matters most are the terms and tags
and definitions that your partner gives, all your own terms become secondary. If your partner feels that you're ignoring
them because you don't call everyday, then no matter how you've previously interpreted the concept of ignoring, maybe
to mean not calling for 1 week- that definition ceases to be.

Drinking Human Bre'ast Milk

Question 1
My wife has large surplus of breast milk which was more than what our baby could consume. I started drinking it and actually found I like the taste of it. Is it safe..

Answer
Yes, breast milk is quite beneficial for adults as well. It increases immunity in Adults, protect from different ailments i.e Diarrhea, Infection, Flu etc as well as beneficial for female as well. As longer breastfeeding save woman from Breast Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, arthritis etc. Moreover, every Mammals milk composition is for its own Race.... Cows milk is made for Cows, Goats milk is for Goat.....As the metabolism is different in Cow, Goat, Camel & Human Being

Question 2
Is it more healthy drinking human breast milk than drinking cow's milk. Are there any health benefits to drinking my wife's milk?Q.3My husband wants to taste my breast milk. Is it okay if he does?

Answer
Susan Condonlactation consultant
it's fine to offer him a taste. If he wants to suckle, though, make sure that you, he, and/or the baby don't have a communicable virus or infection such as thrush or herpes that can pass easily among the three of you. Remarkably, the immunological properties of breastmilk benefit humans at any age. Human milk has even been used in some cases to treat various illnesses in adults. Many breastfeeding mothers tell me that their husbands and older siblings want to try mom's milk. If you're comfortable with this request, what you do in the privacy of your home is up to you.

Cancer, arthritis, diabetes, even acne - is breast milk the new wonder cure?

There's little doubt that breast milk helps keep babies healthy, but could it be a miracle cure for adult illnesses, too? That's the suggestion from a number of studies on its use as a treatment for conditions as varied as cancer, diarrhoea and diabetes.
In the latest research published last week, a Swedish team reported that the sizes of bladder tumours were reduced just five days after patients were injected with a breast milk compound. The team at Gothenburg University had been looking at the antibiotic properties of breast milk when a researcher noticed that cancerous lung cells in a test tube died on contact with breast milk. They then isolated the key compound - a protein called alpha-lactalbumin.

Subsequent tests showed the compound becomes lethal only when exposed to acid, as it is in the stomach, so the scientists mixed it with oleic acid, which is found in babies' stomachs, to form a compound they call HAMLET (human alphalactalbumin made lethal to tumour cells).

The Swedish team, led by Professor Catharina Svanborg, have shown that HAMLET attacks cancer cells, causing apoptosis - a form of cell suicide - in 40 kinds of tumour.

Studies with rats showed that after just seven weeks a highly invasive brain cancer called glioblastoma was seven times smaller in those treated with HAMLET. The product has also been made into a cream and tested on warts (which share the same growth properties as tumours) and found to reduce their size by 75 per cent in 20 volunteers. Researchers believe this could have implications for the treatment of cervical cancer, which is linked to the human papilloma virus, or HPV. Its extraordinary ability to attack rogue cells could be why breast milk appears to protect babies from all sorts of illness - a protection that scientists believe could linger in the body for years. Research shows that breast-fed babies have a reduced risk of many adult illnesses, including cancer. But cancer is not the only focus of breast milk research:

DIABETES & PARKINSON'S
Breast milk could be a new, and easier, source of stem cells. Stem cells are one of the most exciting discoveries in medicine, thanks to their remarkable ability to develop into many different cell types in the body, serving as a sort of internal repair system. Stem cells are already being used to treat leukaemia and could soon help treat eye conditions. Scientists are also researching their potential in the longer term for treating conditions such as spinal injuries, diabetes and Parkinson's disease. A molecular biologist at Perth University, Australia, has discovered stem cells in breast milk. Dr Mark Cregan and his team cultured the cells of human breast milk and found the result was positive for a stem cell marker called nestin.'These cells have all the physical characteristics of stem cells,' he says. 'What we will do next is to see If they behave like stem cells.'If so, this promises to provide researchers with an ethical and easier means of harvesting stem cells for researching treatments. Indeed, Dr Cregan believes this development could be possible within five years.

DIARRHOEA
Chronic diarrhoea kills up to 2.2 million people worldwide every year, mostly children in developing countries. Scientists are looking at whether breast milk could help treat it. One approach is based on indigestible sugars known as oligosaccharides, many of which occur only in human milk. These sugars protect a baby from pathogens to which the mother has never been exposed. It's thought oligosaccharides might be used to boost elderly people's weakened natural protection against pathogens. They could also be used after a course of strong antibiotics by helping re-colonise the digestive tract with beneficial bacteria. So far, scientists have been able to genetically engineer mice to produce oligosaccharides in their milk and are working on bioengineering bacteria to produce human oligosaccharides to put into baby formula milk (to protect bottle-fed babies) or as supplements for adults. Other compounds found in breast milk, called lysozyme and lactoferrin, have been tested on children with diarrhoea and have been shown to not only be an effective treatment, but to offer some sort of protection against future bouts.

ARTHRITIS
Breast milk contains lactoferrin, which helps prevent babies' immune systems from overreacting. This is being looked as a potential treatment for auto-immune conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and septic shock.

DEMENTIA
In Italy, studies are under way to see if a breast milk molecule called glyerophosphocholine (GPC) can improve mental function in people with dementia or victims of stroke and traumatic brain injury. In many separate trials, GPC appears to improve memory, attention and orientation in people with various forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's. It works like a brain nutrient, feeding the most energetically needy cells of our body, such as the brain cells.

ACNEA
Science student at the University of California recently discovered that the lauric acid in breast milk reduces irritation and spots, and has developed an acne cream that is undergoing clinical trials. The cream uses tiny gold particles to carry lauric acid into pores where its anti-microbial properties fight bacteria. As breast milk is difficult to source, researchers are working to develop new sources for its health giving compounds. The compounds lysozyme and lactoferrin are harvested for research from a specific variety of rice, and the milk from genetically engineered goats and cows. Though some of these beneficial compounds are found in milk from other animals, others occur only in human milk, and the nonhuman versions are less potent when given to humans.

HEALTHCARE
Breast milk has a long history in healthcare. The ancient Egyptians used it as a medicine, blending it with honey. And in the Sixties, Albert Sabin, inventor of the oral polio vaccine, conducted a study that showed mice recovered from polio when fed human breast milk. Today, some patients suffering from immunological diseases

So the question is,...Men, do you drink breast milk or would you try it someday?
Women- Would you deny your husband or boyfriend your breast milk and why?
Comment with your honest answers pls...
