Gentlemen,

It would seem as if the no of people who had been directed to do medical yet were not issued TRV within 4 or 5 weeks after has risen this year. I personally know four people who are patiently waiting for TRV after doing medicals.

Well I am perplexed because my school will resume in the next two weeks and this silence from the canadian high commission is hindering my preparation. just cant bring myself to prepare when I am still waiting for the visa to be issued.

I am thinking of doing a mail to my school to do a reminder to the High Commission, is that a wise move your sage advice will be welcome.

Charles,

Yeah, I am Quebec bound, the Canadian High Commission willing. Everything is ready, the fund, the will and the only thing that can stop me now is the visa. yes you can send your documents by courrier and after 2 weeks you can call Canada to confirm the receipt of the CAQ application. So which school are you going to in Quebec?
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada by rodolpho: 8:53am On Aug 06, 2010
Charles,

I believe it takes between 3 (three) and 4 (four) weeks to get the CAQ. Try to do the application online as that way a copy of the CAQ will be sent to your email address immediately your application is approved while the hard copy will be sent to the canadian high commission. Mind you as i said the application is quite straightforward and you should have no problem at all.

Please lemme know if you have any other question

Thank you debosky and may the Almighty God bless you.

From the content of the fax sent to the bank in your case, did the chdc ask from the bank either

a) the balance in your account as at the the date of the fax? or

b)  the balance as at the date you submited your application i.e the date the account was submited?

i believe therein lies the  answer to the puzzle.

thank you for your anticipated response.

gentlemen,

does the canadian high commission check the balance in an account at the time of confirming the authencity of the account do they have the power to ask for the balance in the account at the time of confirmation e.g i submitted an account in june, it is being check in august, will the canadian check the balance in august? and if the answer is yes and i have been directed to do medical, can i be refuse visa on the sole ground that the amount in my account is substansially lower?

thank you

Toni O.

Thanks for your post. i really appreciate it. Yes, i actually had an an offer to change job, which offer is still open, but i didnt take the offer neither did i informed my employer so that wasnt a factor in the Embassy's decision. the offer is still open till june 15 now and i may have to take it if i dont make any headway in my application for student permit. i d rather do my ll.m though as i have let that lingered for so many years.

I didnt do Toefl or any such examination. The only professional exam I have done to date apart from french language course is the arbitration exam. well i dont know if i can defer again. i actually tot one can defer only once but i must confess i dont know the basis of my belief. but i will contact the school to confirm. any response they give me will determine my next line of action. i hope to have a response by tuesday. but as at now i am leaning towards resennding the application.

gentlemen i thank you all for taking time out to read my mail and offering your advice. you are all appreciated.

Gentlemen of the nairaland,

I need help and fast too. i just got a response from the almighty Canadian embassy. My student permit application was rejected. the reason given was that 'they are not convinced i am a bonafide student and they are not convinced i will return back to nigeria upon completion of my studies. now in my application i submitted a letter from my employer showing i have been given a study leave to show i will return. i also showed proof of admission by Mcgill university to the ll.m programme.

my questions are- what more could i have done to show i will return to nigeria and that i am a bonafide student? can i reapply for the student permit now or is it better to appeal the decision?. taken into consideration the fact that i deferred my admission last year, can i defer my programme again for another year. what more could i have done to impove my chances of getting a student permit?

wise men of the nairaland i need your advice urgently, please help.

thanks for your prompt reply. i really appreciate it. replying to your your question, doing a letter and informing the embassy of of the new job defeats the whole essence of writing the letter in the first place which is to show you have a job waiting at home. but i am considering your advice and i thank you greatly for it.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada by rodolpho: 8:14pm On May 21, 2009
gentlemen of the nairaland, i need serious help and i believe only you guys can advise me right.

i applied for my student permit to study in Canada on 19th April 2009. in support of my application among other documents was a letter from my office confirming that i have been given a study leave and i can come back to the job upon completing of my programme. however around March i commenced moves aimed at getting a new job, hoping in the event that i fail to get the visa i can change my job. unfortunately i am yet to get a feedback on my visa application but i have been offered employment in the new job. i am directed to resume on 26th May 2009 even though i can shift my resumption date for at most a week. the pay is almost thrice my current salary.

however i really want to go to Canada for my postgraduate study and i feel the chances of my getting a visa will be seriously affected if i leave my present job as the embassy people may subsequently try to confirm the authencity of my study leave letter and of cos my employer will tell them i am no longer in their employment.

this new job is also offers great financial improvement and if i refuse the job and i am subsequently denied a visa, i will feel seriously gutted. this is especially as i don't feel motivated and appreciated enough in my present job.

gentlemen, what do i do? accept the new job offer and jeopardise my visa application or deny the offer and hope my visa application will be successful.

please gentlemen i need help and fast too.

thank you so much for your reply. but what about the other arm of my question? do they verify every information on the application even where no document is submited thereon?
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada by rodolpho: 1:36pm On May 14, 2009
now the question is which documents or information does the embassy verify out of the legions of documents and information submitted to the embassy? for example does the embassy verify the certificates- educational certificates, age, number of siblings or they specifically check the validity of certain information and or documents? i am asking this because i applied for a student visa and i am yet to get a feedback. thus am i to expect a reply out after all the information in my application e.g age, siblings address educational qualifications etc has been verified?
