I don't usually do this but I had to drop a "thank you" for making my afternoon. I utterly enjoyed reading your back and forths.
I'd say THT80 and Lawlahdey are evenly matched and apart from the name calling, the banter was quite entertaining.

Wouldn't it be great if it was that easy? It shows you really don't understand film making or you are just a guy with an idea. "Guarantee" is the last thing a film maker would say... I am a film maker - so I know!

Truth is you don't just stop talking to someone who you are close to. If his support was so strong why will she forget him so easily. Enough not to even bother about chatting him up in 4yrs. She has questions to answer.

Celebrities / 10 Things That Don't Add Up In The Linda Ikeji Shutdown Saga by somadino: 8:32am On Oct 10, 2014
Congratulations linda's blog is back again. These are 10 observations or questions I feel were unanswered after reading http://lindaikeji..com/2014/10/between-linda-ikeji-and-mr-aye-dee-real.html. Should we call it a resolution? Is Linda lying to him or to us? Quite clearly there are some things Linda isn't telling us. By the way it was first posted on her make shift site lindaikejionline.com

1. From the convo we understand that he tried to reach her several times but she claimed never to have seen any but one which she doesn't remember replying to. This is hard to believe because he had used the medium to reach her before, it is unlikely that her mail server would push Alex/1976AD/MrAyeDee's mails to junk.

2. If you mail a large group of people at once some mail servers would deliver such mail as spam. But in this case he was sure of the address and was only mailing one person - her. So it doesn't matter that he used a different account from the one that she knew. Many of us get hundreds of mails we just find a way to filter with our eyes, looking at the subjects and or the sender's name, then open the ones that are most unlikely to be junk - so again we have to assume she got his mails.

3. He also used twitter. Linda doesn't need to follow him for her to see his tweets as long as he tweeted at her handle. By default twitter mails you once anyone tweets at you or @ mentions you. The twitter app icon (which we see Linda has running from the screen grabs) also lights up once you are tweeted at

4. From the chat Alex believed that she decided to ignore him because of a "simple request" What was this request?

5. Linda starts by showing screen grabs then resorts to copy and paste because "its quite long" chances are that she could have edited portions of the chat hiding things from us... I just dey talk.

6. Is Linda an ingrate? She claims to have been helped by Alex/1976AD, he advised her, gave tips and sent her stories. A whole confidant. Was she no longer grateful because she had arrived? Did someone say arrogant?

7. You can only unfriend and block someone whom you friended and followed in the first place. Can you do that to someone you don't know?

8. She said recently she was wondering what he felt of her progress... I'm thinking Maybe not strong enough because she could have just called him, after all she had his number. So why she no call am?

9. From a previous post Linda claimed lindaikeji.net was only just pointed to her blog. Why didn't she know that "her friend" registered it on her behalf. The domain name was registered in 2011. Or is he a cybersquatter true true?

10. He didn't write any petition to google so why did he tweet so much about it. He claims his guys did - "I'll ask my guys. They put requests in for my tweets that they say you took".... "They say"?? Shey e no see am come dey tweet?

This point doesn't count but I will say it anyway. From the screen grabs his name is "Aye Dee" this is an account she already has in her address book when did she change it, why? Unless it was after she knew she will tell the world

That's it folks my 10 anomalies.
Is the shutdown a publicity stunt, is it a story of love gone sour or is there still more to this story. Your guess is as good as mine. Make we dey look.

TV/Movies / Re: Reality TV Show Pilot Shooting by somadino: 4:47pm On May 15, 2013
One important thing you'll need to do a pilot is... Money (I am sure you already knew). Only your idea is more important.
However you need to ask yourself a few questions like
- How original is your idea
- How relevant is it to today's entertainment
- Who are the target Audience, and hence Sponsors
For your idea (don't be afraid to give out a little more detail, trust me someone has/is thought/thinking about it already)
But in the absence of a synopsis of the idea I can tell you, you'll need a preproduction team, camera(s), a location for your shoot, and a post production team I.e video editor, etc. All of which money can give you.
If you need more help just ask.
You can tweet at me @somadino
TV/Movies / Re: The Production Of Science Fiction In Nollywood by somadino: 2:03pm On May 15, 2013
The good times are still ahead!
We are still far behind as a result of so many factors, a lot has to be put in place but the good thing is that we are doing something. I can't tell you not to write what you enjoy, please do. But if you write so the script could get made and it isn't, shouldn't you rethink it?
The era of mediocrity and wishy washy movies will go. As I said the good times are still ahead.
TV/Movies / Re: I Nid Ur Advice. by somadino: 1:28pm On Apr 18, 2013
I think you have asked the wrong question. Or the right question too soon. You need to answer a few yourself like - What story idea do u have? In case u don't, are u buying one? Or asking a friend for one? What skill do you already posses? The requirements (apart from the basic like a camera, cast n crew) will depend on the idea. Are u breaking things? Will u need to shoot in the air. Will u shoot at night with popular people? Etc... When these are answered we can then know the cost
TV/Movies / Re: Winners Of The Afrinolly Short Film Competition 2013! by somadino: 12:16pm On Mar 13, 2013
Okay. As you know I entered the contest and was one of the final 20.
Pls correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think how good the subject/well made the documentary was mattered the moment a shortlist was made. You, Ijebabe, Villageboi, and a few others are among a few who voted based on what you saw. A lot voted becos they were asked to - "na my friend do am". They all had a chance but some had a way of getting more votes in. I wish the site had a counter or a way to show it was transparent.
The process is simple do your best get short listed... Then campaign hard

TV/Movies / Re: Afrinolly Short Film Competition by somadino: 12:30am On Feb 22, 2013
ijebabe: Well, each time you moved to a new state, this map of Nigeria would come up followed by a scene (like a gate/border) of the city. Its like I was taken back to 70s!
After d map. The Calabar shots were done with a mobile phone (infact that's why I chose to move the pictures) the quality was bad. And I shot the others from a moving vehicle so shake and d jelly effect of the DSLR took effect.

VillageBoi:
I believe what Ijebabe is talking about is mainly overblown highlights which unfortunately on 4.2.0 8-bit DSLR footage can never be fixed. Look into getting yourself a variable ND as well as polarising filters. Additionally look at filming with 'custom' picture profiles instead of the Standard, Portrait, Landscape and others that are built in (you will have to colour correct and grade the end product though). Uploading it in SD shouldn't be a problem either. Practice a lot and learn the camera in & out; you have an amazing tool in your hands
I've got variable ND filters but I must confess I did not use them cos I shot run and gun mostly.
NOTE THIS the settings used that gives you a fine picture aboard if used in Naija na another thing e go give you. Our atmosphere is not the same. I've seen the beauty of shooting custom, "shooting flat", and crushing blacks in post. In Nigeria your picture won't be fine. I've downloaded settings and loaded on my camera. Colour corrected still e no fine. Villageboi have you shot in Nigeria? Oyibo atmosphere and our own no be d same. I might have just started a new argument but its true. Again, I'm guilty it was blown out in a few places, wish I had paid attention, wish I used an EVF. Thanks for the feedback sha... Cool stuff

ijebabe: Hahahaha! 'boli with woof-woof'

I did learn from the documentary but the imagery bothered me a bit. I understand if its a war zone or clips taken at a live event but if ure taking the time to shoot abeg just do am wella. I watched a short (I think its one of the ones you'll be watching tonight shot with a phone and still looked good.
Thanks for the feedback. I shot DSLR but uploaded Youtube SD I didn't use a fast lens though. Do you have anything specifically you are referring to in the picture quality?

TV/Movies / Re: I Need Advice And Logistics Partners For A Talent Reality Show. by somadino: 11:05pm On Nov 08, 2012
I'm sorry but your good idea isn't enough, you need a lot of MONEY, loads and loads of it. A good crew (like mine cool) to pull off your great idea, beautiful set, logistics and good post production don't come cheap. That's not the heavy lifting as Nigerian TV stations will then take you for all you've got
Don't think they wouldn't compare your show with the ones out there, your sponsors will be the first to. I'm sure you compared Got Talent (home and abroad) with Peak Talent Hunt. So make those shows your base mark
The GOOD news is that if your idea is unique and creative enough you'd be the one to sell the franchise to others and you would easily get a local sponsor and make money. So far no Nigerian Reality show has cut it - that's why they die. That's why its easier to buy franchise (proj fame, Got Talent, idols) or model it around a successful show (ultimate search). Please give it your best.

TV/Movies / Re: Blu-ray Movies In Nigeria? by somadino: 7:17pm On Oct 17, 2012
Amazon have a standing policy not to ship to Naija. They only ship very few selected items directly to Nigeria hence u need the services of a shipper. You'll let the shipper know by signing up. They only charge you for the weight of the items you ship.
Keep a look out for my movie early next year - and you'll be sure that a blu ray version will be available. It'll be easy for you to GRAB YOUR COPY THEN cool
