Politics / Re: Achebe To Nigerian Youths: Rise And Reclaim Your Country by sowura(m): 6:00pm On Oct 21, 2009 |
Nigerians are bitter and rightly so, we cant continue to hide behind the anonimity of the internet to condemn the government, i work in the development sector and i know first hand how insensitive and rotten and oh absolutely clueless these so called leaders are. i think the best thing to do is for us to identify people with like minds and organise while putting in place effective systems that will spawn strategies that can be deployed to tackle this government by pu;;ing our resources together. i do not believe in violence for several reasons, some of which are as follows violence is two expensive success cant be achieved using violence as that is exactly what they will be expecting so they can get the opportunity to bombard, arrest and torture, which will then in turn create fear in the minds of other people thereby paralysing them further whatever you get using force or violence you will have to protect using force or violence, and that will just be a complete waste of time and resources it is time for Nigerians to realise that the only true development is a collective development and not individual development. Chinua Achebe with due respect is not saying anything different from what the ordinary man on the street is saying, only difference coverage |
Politics / Re: Do You Ever Blame Yourself For The Mess Nigeria Is In by sowura(m): 10:20am On Oct 14, 2009 |
i understand that, but do you ever feel that you also might be a big part of the problem. what i mean is that ultimately as a Nigerian you also have a responsibility to see that things go smoothly for the country. in other words do you do your own bit to move the COLLECTIVE good of the country forward |
Politics / Do You Ever Blame Yourself For The Mess Nigeria Is In by sowura(m): 4:14pm On Oct 13, 2009 |
the blame for what is wrong with Nigeria, has been flying around for a very long tym, while i agree that the bulk of the blame lies with our stupid, corrupt and wicked political leaders, i am wondering wether you (personal pronoun intententional) also ever think you should share a bit of the blame. Do you also think you are responsible as a citizen of Nigeria for how the country turns out |

Politics / Re: Why Has Nigerians Lost The Will To Fight by sowura(m): 11:02am On Oct 09, 2009 |
people should remember that the white man did not invent slavery, they just introduced another dimension to it. Africans have been taking slaves as part of the spoils of war for a very long tym before the white men stepped into Africa. we were only too willing to get something valuable for it from the white man and that expanded the scope of operations. One of our major sins is that we generally have leaders who are very short sighted and it is still haunting us. the leadership legacy we inherited is probably the worst in world it doesnt include honour, integrity, patriotism and so on in its ingredients |

yesterday i realised that one reason why there is an obvious decline in the pool of talented footballers is that, the children of the poor and down troden who used to make up the majority of the national team players have found more profitable use of their time, like militancy, yahoo yahooo, music etc lol i no blame them jare. after all is said and done Siasia still retains my respect sha. i no even fit vex again, it has turned to comedy, i just dey laugh, laugh, dey laugh Rendani:you think people like OCHECHI is under 21, you make me laugh |

Going by all the interesting and very intelligent albeit sometimes conflicting response to this post, i guess the question should be "can Nigerians ever stand up to fight together as one?" and if so how can that be jump started. i see that some ppl are totally hopeless in that they do not see any hope for a revolution in Nigeria. i feel powerless right now, but i do have hope that something might spur a mass action in this country. My singular source of hope is that more and more Nigerians are becoming aware and awareness can only empower people.(change can take time) people should open their eyes to the fact that among the so called leaders, tribal, religious or ethinic differences do not even come into play (that is only used when they are not getting a piece of the action) the only religion, tribe, langauge they understand is currency of all forms and shape. so Nigerian masses should stop seeing each other first as yoruba, Tiv, Ibo muslim, christian etc when it comes to issues of national importance. our fore fathers were severely divided in their scramble for each others lands and wealth and the white man came in and exploited the situation by playing them against each other, the corrupt Nigerian leaders are following in their footsteps, they will do anything and everything to sustain this division accross any front. the religious leaders are also not helping matters by appealing to peoples economic conscience and not their social conscience. purely economic conscience can develop a man, but social consciousness develops a nation |

Politics / Why Has Nigerians Lost The Will To Fight by sowura(m): 5:15pm On Oct 07, 2009 |
Despite the harrowing experience Nigerians face on a daily basis, with all the obvious lies, the impunity with which our National coffers is been looted. with all the different forms of corruption and injustice perpetrated by Nigeria government officials all over the world. even in the face of the reality of the contempt with which Nigerians are held by their so called leaders, with all the efforts of people like the Great late Fela, Gani and other genuine patriotic Nigerians. Nigerians have not been able to find the will to fight as a group devoid of tribalism, religion and other social factor which only serve to polarise the common people. Nigerians would rather face death defying odds to seek greener pastures abroad, they would rather join them because they cant beat them, they would form and join militant groups in other to make a quick buck, they would join yahoo boys 419 etc. Nigerians would rather work at very low paying jobs and pay taxes through their noses and pray to God to release them from their sufferings. they will even collect paltry sums from politicians to cause troubles or vote in a well known thief. in short we will do everything except the only thing that can bring lasting solution to our collective suffering. Now am not talking about the half hearted and infact laughable attempt made by some groups all over the country. WHY HAS NIGERIANS LOST THE WILL TO FIGHT n(not necessarily violently) |

na wa, it is just the begining and we all know it, this is a serious issue sha, but on a lighter note i was wondering if an AK costs 50k each and these ppl are asking for 300k to hand theirs over which is now second hand!! why can't the federal government buy 6 AKs with the money and equip our military and para military so they can effectively engage the militants. to me this makes more sense economically and strategically. and after neutralising the militants they should then do whats right by ND and the whole of naija, true federalism for a more sustainable development |

Politics / Re: Islamists To Yar’adua: We Want Total Islam - PM News by sowura(m): 10:06am On Jul 30, 2009 |
i am sooooo sad that it has all come to this!!!!! I understand the anger of all the non muslim posters even if it is painful that they use all those words, i mean though i am a muslim i am seriously angered at the actions of these extremists. But i wolud like also to say that there are good muslims who prefer to coexist peacefully with everyone. However as long as there are parts of this country that are pre-dominantly muslim, the issue of islamisation will always come up. i dare say that if all the oil wealth in Nigeria was owned by the muslim north, Nigeria would have ceased to be a nation a long tym ago, the only thing keeping us together is the oil wealth that the northern elite profit from, as a yoruba muslim who has lived in the north all his life, i have been a first hand witness to excesses by some muslims even the very educated ones, i also have an insight into their personality as it relates to the religion. they will never be satisfied with having a southerner and a christian rule them even if it is rotational, they just tolerate it because the elites have so much influence on the way they think and act for now. secondly, the war against western education is not a war against christians perse, although i concede that ultimately it is christians that personify western education in the minds of these people. the war is a war of civilisations, most of the tym America is targeted but we all know that a lot of Americans cant even be said to be christians (i stand to be corrected please) , it is said that islam is a way of life which has prescribed everything a human being needs to leave a quality life, therefore, they reason that being forced to leave as prescribed by the westerners is an attempt to dominate and obliterate their own civilisation. armed with the above reasoning i have always been a supporter of not a one Nigeria but a well divided nigeria with the Hausa muslims free to have their own state and all. Besides i think they are the ones majorly responsible for the lack of progress in Nigeria, they rely a lot on the government for income and they are a very corrupt set of people who will think nothing of cleaning up the government coffers. so i say lets divide up this unworkable country and make progress, who knows maybe a true GIANT of Africa will emerge amongst us. |

sir t:Aliko Dangote and other business men sell products they produce with their money or money they pay interest on, Adeboye built his school largely with the tithe and offerings collected from millions of impoverished Nigerians yearly, he does not even pay tax. so dont compare him with business men because he is not. He is a man of God or supposedly so, until him and other so called men of God muslim or xtian start acting like one they will not get any respect from majority of Nigerians.

when some time ago some naval officers beat up a lady in Lagos for something she did or didnt do, Nigerians flared up and condemned the uniformed men and rightly so. the same thing has happened now and because it is someone you hate it is right. Nigerians are lawless. we encourage uniform men to abuse their power because some of us have influence. the bad thing about jungle justice is that it is very prone to abuse, soon ppl will be using it to their own advantage. what is wrong with taking the guy to court. could it not have been possible that these unscrupulous producers signed a contract for 3 days knowing that 3 days will not be enof to complete the work just to cut cost and short change the actor. @elgaxton, the post said he was ready to leave after 3 days even though he has not completed his work. The lawful and morally right thing to do is that if they need him to stay extra days then his contract has to be reviewed, but this Nigeria, why pay more when you can get him to work at gun point. i think that is armed robbery. period!!!!! a man is punished for breaking the law and not for being arrogant. |
