LOL, @wwheelz, you are correct, not every Nigerian professional abroad is a Security Guard or a Taxi Driver, all my colleagues I am in contact with that we went to medical school together in Nigeria are either in the UK or USA, and they are all doing very well in their respective medical specialty, even one of my mentors, also like a senior brother to me back in the days studied Medicine @ OAU Ife Medical school, he is a top Heart Specialist/Cardiologist in New York, his name is Oluyemi Badero, he was named as one of the foremost black Heart Specialists in NewYork a couple of years ago,

Politics / Re: Have Nigerian Taxi Drivers Suddenly Become Rich Or Telling Fantastic Stories by SuRiUno: 11:10am On Mar 26, 2010
Owning a house in the UK does not make you rich
The banks own the house until you finish paying off the mortgage,
Being very rich means that you don't necessarily have to work for anyone as people will be working for you.
If you get to a point where your money is working for you to a point where you don't have to go and drive a taxi cab, then you can be considered as very rich or very wealthy,

Working in the US or UK allows you to put money aside that can be used to build a house in Nigeria, this money is either from years of disciplined regular savings, or if you have a good credit rating you can get a loan from a bank or remortgage your house by securing money from the bank against your mortgaged house, this money can be used to build a house in Nigeria, this then gives the impression that as a Taxi driver abroad, you are rich, Remember that if you default on any loan or money secured on your house, your home is at risk, and your credit rating will be adversely affected.

Also don't forget the cost of living in these cities London, NewYork e.t.c can be quite expensive as you have to pay tax on almost everything, there is no getting out of paying your dues.
Sports / Re: Britain Deports Its Five Gold Medal Nigerian Hero by SuRiUno: 3:35pm On Mar 24, 2010
This punishment may seem harsh, but I think the "Gold Medal" thing got to his head,

This guy should have respect for the laws of the land, he could have at least kept a low profile, especially after being convicted in 2007 for driving whilst disqualified as well as careless driving. With an immigration case pending, the last thing he wanted was to be flouting the law, one of the easiest ways of getting the attention of the police in the UK is through driving.

Driving whilst disqualified is not taken lightly, it is a blatant disobedient of the order of the court, usually, this could have resulted in a custodial sentence.

In the UK, no one is above the law, a couple of years ago, a currently serving Top police boss (chief constable) was convicted of speeding @ 90 mph in a 60 mph limit zone, he was disqualified from driving and fined.

Politics / Re: Military Coup In Nigeria [[Attempted Rumor]] by SuRiUno: 10:17am On Feb 26, 2010
@Colonel_a+, you are just an attention seeker, you ought to be ashamed of yourself, don't you know that if there is a coup, it will set Nigeria back another 30 years, some well meaning people in Nigeria are trying to make democracy work, though not perfect, and all you can think of is a coup,  the idle mind is the devil's workshop,  go and find yourself a job.
Politics / Re: Yar'adua Returns To Nigeria: Condition Unknown by SuRiUno: 3:21pm On Feb 25, 2010
From a medical perspective, I think Yar'adua may be in a PVS ("persistent vegetative state"), doctors can't really do much to improve his condition, he's therefore been brought back to nigeria to die with some dignity,

Watch as the drama unfolds, somehow, they will soon announce that he has passed away in Nigeria, this is to save themselves the huge embarrassment that he passed away in a foriegn land.

Anything is possible in Nigeria,
Business / Re: What Business Can I Do In 9ja From U.k. Pls by SuRiUno: 1:35pm On Feb 25, 2010
@Tayo-UK has given you a very sound advice, be vere careful, if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is, there are so many fraudsters around, don't let fraudsters con you of your hard earned pounds sterling.

A business that readily comes to mind that is not capital intensive and can be run to a great degree from the uk or anywhere in the world is an online or web based business, this is because you don't necessarily need a physical presence.

Option 1: For example if you design a web based software application for corporate clients in Nigeria, you can develop your applications from your Laptop in the UK, deploy it unto a uk hosted server, and your clients in Nigeria can access it.

Option 2: You can organize training for corporate multinational companies in Nigeria, hire your instructors/trainers from the UK to go and deliver the training in Nigeria as and when, the training can be a computer based training or hands-on tutor led training, it can be anything from Management Training, SAP training or consultancy, these are all IT based, so you only hire the premises when you need it.

Most other businesses will to a large extent require your presence majority of the time.

Good luck.
Politics / Re: Jonathan Reasserts Position As Acting President by SuRiUno: 12:58pm On Feb 25, 2010
Don't let anyone fool us, Yar'adua is obviously not fit to discharge the functions of the Office of the President, so why the cover up, I pray and hope Nigeria does not degenerate into a "FAILED STATE"
Politics / Re: Jonathan To Remain In Charge While Yar'adua Recovers by SuRiUno: 11:27am On Feb 25, 2010
Yar'adua and the people that surround him have gotten themselves intoxicated with power, I don't know why it has to be a "do or die affair", democracy in Nigeria is now begining to be a big joke, May God help us in this country.

@MedLabGirl, Order,  It's all relative, in comparison to what you referred to as "my tiny village/dump",
I am glad that you are calm, it's very interesting reading your post, Let's call a truce, there's no need to fight each other. Afterall, the original post was not intended to make us fight, opinions would always differ,

By the way, how could you have guessed that I am in the UK?

Take care.

@MedLabGirl, how you know say d peepee dey little? I guarantee you that it's capable of calming you down big time!!!!!

The word "random" I used was only a figure of speech, it's merely rhetoric!!! olodo ara e.
I am very humbled to be talking to a "smart and devastatingly goodlooking girl", but it still doesn't change the fact that you need to calm down a bit,

Religion / Re: Nigerian Pastors In The UK And Money! by SuRiUno: 2:45pm On Dec 22, 2009
@tensor777, I think you are deliberately trying NOT to get the point here, are you a pastor yourself or what? because, it seems you are defending what is indefensible here. What is wrong is wrong, and what is right is right,
@chukwudi44's quote "I have a moral responsibility of educating their victims to free them from bondage."
It's not good enough to just do nothing and let our people suffer, our failure to act sometimes constitutes failure on our part. we need to free ourselves from bondage.
My position is that every man including these prosperity preaching pastors should go out and work to earn a living, rather than sit down an expect other people to go and work and be handing out their hard earned money to them.
This does NOT apply to every black person, but it has often been said that if you want to hide something from a black person, just hide it in a book, they will not find it, that's because a lot of people prefer the Pastor to read the bible for them, and then interprete what the bible says, rather than reading the bible themselves.  Remember knowledge is no respector of persons, nobody has monopoly of knowledge/wisdom except God.

John Chp 4 vs 1 - Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Matthew chp 7 vs 15 - “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

Religion / Re: Nigerian Pastors In The UK And Money! by SuRiUno: 3:51pm On Dec 17, 2009
@tensor777, No one is saying it is wrong to give to the church, the emphasis is on these so called pastors who look for the easiest way to make money at the expense of vulnerable or people who have one problem or the other, these pastors make you believe that once you pay your tithe and "sow a very generous seed", all your problems will vanish, unfortunately, there are so many gullible people who believe this, the vast majority of these pastors have no tangible skill they can use to work and earn a decent living, so they choose the easy way out by brainwashing their congregation.  You should see the lifestyles of some of these pastors, while a large proportion of their members are still living in abject poverty, hoping for the "breakthrough".

Whilst it is good to give to the church in order to support the work of the ministry, one should not be blind about it.

Corinthians 9:7 - Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. - Do it from the bottom of your heart, not under duress.

The preaching of a lot of these pastors is nothing short of emotional blackmail, designed to make you feel as if without paying your tithe, you can't make heaven.

There was this pastor - former bus driver (formerly: Victory Church, now Victory To Victory) Pastor Douglas Goodman, who was sentenced to 3½ years behind bars for sexually assaulting members of his congregation, he lives in a £1.5million mansion in Notthingham, this was in the BBC news a few years ago.

Question: Would he have been able to afford to live in a 1.5 million pound mansion on his wage as a bus driver?

The fact of the matter is that these so called prosperity preaching pastors ruin so many vulnerable people's lives because of their love for MONEY.
Religion / Re: Nigerian Pastors In The UK And Money! by SuRiUno: 10:20am On Dec 17, 2009
@KunleOshob, you are right, its not just in the UK, it happens a lot in Nigeria and other parts of the world. I wonder why our people are just so gullible, a lot of these pastors are taking undue advantage of people's vulnerability and playing on their emotions.
Business / Re: The Poor And The Rich - Who Is 'More Greedy'? by SuRiUno: 2:38pm On Dec 16, 2009

Why are nigerian pastors in the UK more concerned about money and prosperity than actually preaching the undiluted word of God??
