Science/Technology / Intelligent Network: The Culprit Behind Your Troubled Days And Nights. by Tbeiz: 2:03pm On Jan 04, 2016 |
I work with a Telco and would like to explain a few things about the endless marketing SMS and calls you keep getting on your phones. Intelligent network, simply referred to as IN is the icing on the cake of every basic telecomms network. It's the system or group of systems responsible for charging, rating, billing your voice calls, data ,SMS and content. It consists of various servers and storage systems that are well planned and designed to be redundant, very efficient and work at light speed, hence the Intelligence. Simple places or ways you notice IN at work on your cellphone are : 1.Checking/Recharging your account balance via USSD(Unstructured Supplementary Service Data)eg *779#, *456#..etc. 2.Billing(Postpaid or prepaid) for voice, sms and data. 3.VAS- Value added Services eg.CRBT( Caller Ring Back Tone), Borrowing airtime,Health Tips and other beneficial SMS 4.Bonuses and Plans Now, to the part that cause some restlessness and sleepless nights for Nigerians. VAS As mentioned earlier, Value added services (VAS), contributes a large chunk to the pockets of most Telcos. These are the services that would likely flood your cellphones with hundreds of SMSs and even call you countless times trying to get your purchasing power. You see, these services are not generated by the the Telcos themselves but by hundreds of third party agents(3PPs) whose names I am not permitted to mention. They are companies from differnet parts of world supplying services through different telcos( MTN ,Airtel, Etisalat), but they do it the approval of the Telcos. Short codes are used for these services eg. 5382(MISS U) , 4200(BBC News),5852 ( Fitness Tips) , 10938 , 38265( Home Care Tips), Isaiah4vs19 etc. Same goes for phones calls recieved for telemarketing. They all ride on the Intellignet Network. Other Domains like PS/CS CORE, MPBN ,IT are sometimes involved in the approval/development of these services. So,when next you see an SMS or phone call that's from your Telco that's marketing or VAS related , know in your mind that it may not be them directly. There's so much more but I'll stop here. Feel free to ask your questions. Enjoy.

Nairaland / General / Unnecessary And Unhealthy Competition by Tbeiz: 10:27am On Sep 09, 2014 |
I would like to begin by saying: 'If there's anyone you should compete with, it should be yourself'. Back to the topic. I've noticed so many things over the course of the years , and it's the fact that life seems to be a competition. There's always this struggle for who's better and who's comes first. I see it in families, amongst peers, schoolmates, even husband and wife(haba!). On Nairaland here, people seem so excited when their posts/topics hit front page(sometimes seeing it as one explosive achievement). I congratulate you however. This is just an inherent competitive nature. Oya post your comment naa, you see things like 'first to comment', 'sapce booked' e.t.c. I still congratulate however. Seun has a prize for y'all. I'm not here to bash anybody or talk down anybody, all I'm saying is make a mental note of why you do the things you do. My first ever topic here hit the front page and I didn't flinch, well maybe a little surprised. I only wanted to educate people. This competitive nature does more harm than good(if healthy, I recommend, and that's why we have Champions league, World Cup, and other sports). So in summary, see some results of unhealthy and unnecessary competition below: In families - sibling rivalry, divorce ultimately between parents, envy (especially in polygamous homes) At work place- backstabbing , politics of the highest order, falsifying documents ,evil schemes e.t.c In the church/ religious institution (this one is unbelievable- eleyi gidi gan) - pastors/leaders losing focus , misuse/abuse of authority ,e.t.c At school- making enemies where you could have made friends for life, joining cults , wrong association, envy In your neighbourhood- you know how this one pans out. BEEF!!! Hope you get the drift of this write-up. So I end with 'Be the best you can be , not because someone set a limit, but because you know you are powerful beyond measure'. I have a song this too .... Personally, I think Lagos is expensive. If you consider the average income of people to the standard of living, you would agree with me. In some other states ,minimum wage can still hold up but not in Lagos. You need an average of N40,000 to N80,000 to really live in Lasgidi. *Heavy Sigh* |

[quote author=monami2abd] U see monami, At this stage things are no longer the same. To sit down and talk is to pull words out of an emotional woman. Let me ask u, do u think she can look at her husband eye-to-eye now? Or Don't you think she has plot his death over and over again in ahead? I am speaking form experience, she may or may not have to accept the child. The choice lies not only in her hands but in the hands of the husband and the maid. From the tone of the husband he sounds proud of what he has done so I think he would like to keep the baby. But if he says the girl must stay, wify is relegated straight!!! |
