ezinne,

Thanks for your response it was very helpful!! I did notice that there were many gardens and was thinking that would be a great idea. About the hotels, I was talking to my mom about it and she said the exact same thing. The Hilton and Sheraton would be very pricey and there were prob other hotels I just didnt know about. (I checked the Reiz as you suggested and it does seem quite nice!) I will also talk with my sister in laws and see what they have to say as well as they live there now. I will be going at the end of the month, so I will be sure to drive around the area you mentioned. The wedding is in a least rainy season, and I've always dreamed of an outdoor wedding so I will continue to check it out! Thanks for all your help!!! :-)

Hi,

I know this is an old thread, but I came across this while trying to search outdoor wedding sites in Abuja. I noticed no one answered that part of her question. Does anyone know of any venues that are beautiful, outdoors, and holds a lot of people in Abuja? Also, what are your thoughts on the Abuja Hilton and Sheraton for weddings? Thanks so much for your input! It is greatly appreciated!

wow!!! way to drive it homw gabrywyl!!!! This is the best posting I've seen here tus far. (Not to say there havent been other very good ones!!!) Wow that should say enough!!! Of course I'd leave my child with the gay guy who would love them and give them the same love I would show them!!!! I really think this is the best example thus far! As most people compare the "gays" they speak of as horrible, The ones I know would NEVER hurt ANYONE!! In fact I am more comfortable around them than most people! Perhaps its bc they are sure of themselves and know the good person that they truly are!!!!!!

Thanks again gabrywyl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have not seen a better example on here than the one you have given!!! (for the record I am not gay. I am engaged to the most wonderful man on earth!!!!! However, I have many friends who are, and it hurts me to see people discriminate against them bc of their choice!!!!

firstly, they arent locking tongues
secondly, its his fb profile pic
thirdly, if he knew of all the ignorance being thrown out on here,  he would be all for me standing up for the gay rights, and would have prob told me to send others

thank you

Anyway, since there are so many homophobes on here that are probably about to have a heart attack by looking at it I will remove it, Its a beautiful pic though CTAL!!! YU!!

well I think thats the ONLY way you can determine if its right or wrong!!! Obviously, if you have no morals than its fine. If you are in a religion that prohibits it, it is a sin. My best friend who I've been talking about is agnostic, so obviously he has NO reason to believe being gay is wrong, and I have NO right to tell him otherwise. If he confessed christianity, judaism, islam, or any ohter religion that clearly states it as a sin, then I see no problem with maybe thinking that they should consider their acts wrong. Still, they must decide this on their own, and not made to feel alienated by those who think they have all the answers. I have many friends who are gay, and to my knowledge most are prob agnostic or atheist, so they are not doing ANYTHING wrong withing their religion!!!! And that is the ONLY place that can say they are wrong PERIOD!!! America is considered a christian nation (though we most prob have most every religion present in our country, and I think thats great by the way!) so that is why there is such debate over whether it should be legal or not!!! Also, I see nothing wrong with that picutre!! Its two of the most amazing, established, talented, good hearted people I know who happen to be in love with each other. I was much more offended by the hate comment put up here comparing homosexuals to those who have sex with animals and children, and canibals. That saddend me immensely. However, as I have a protected right to post that picture. These people have a right to say the things they say!!! Its the gift and the curse of living in a land with freedoms. BUT, one I would gladly take ANYDAY over being somewhere where others are made to think for me and then tell me what to believe and how to express it!!!!

Ok I have to and taste this lamb! haha!! Tomorrow is our Pesach Sedar, and the lamb my mother has been cooking all day for it has come out of the oven!!!!!!!!!! yay!!!! This has been a wonderful Passover week and I think its so cool it well on Easter this year!!! (Well rather Easter fell during Passover lol. Pesach is the same week every year, and easter is different, Either way still very cool!!!

So, I shall leave on a good note!! Chag Sameach if you're observing Passover! Happy Easter everyone else!! Hope this pic is better lol!! Its a table set for a Pesach Sedar!!! I cant wait, prob mostly cuz I want a sub and we can only eat matza this week lol!!!

Vanity I totally agree with you! On the day of judgement, God will judge those who commited sexual sins right up there with those who judge them, because they are technically both sins,

On another note, lol I would like to post this. It was my best friends status on facebook yesterday,

WIlliam,  is so excited that NY Governor David Patterson will be reintroducing legislation to legalize gay marriage in NY State, and this time to a Democrat controlled Senate, what great moments of equality are happening in the USA, my home, cheers to Iowa and Vermont. It will be wonderful to marry my partner in US and not be forced to do so in Europe, though we love Denmark, thank you!

Hmm,  So ya I know they will get married, but he is from new york and would love to do it in his own state!! I believe he has this right!!

Btw I've attached a very cute pic of them,  Well, I think so anyway!!!

Have you known him long enough to trust him? If you then only you know the answer to that. I know my boyfriend has emphatically stated that we cannot live in the states after we are married. This is because of his business. He has said he'd like us to live in Nigeria, but there are other options. Just bring up to him the conversation of where he would like the two of you to settle. I think him wanting to get married in Nigeria shows that he wants you to meet his family and do the honorable thing!! Just my thoughts. My boyfriend and I plan to marry in Nigeria. I have no problem with this. In fact I'm very happy about it!!! And my family is in support of it!! One good this is that you know according to our culture the brides family covers the costs of the wedding. By going away, lol!! TAlso, you dont have to cut ur guest list so intensely. Everyone can be invited! There are some good points!!!

Its not againt the law for gay people to kiss in public, I've taken a pic of my best friend kissing his boyfriend at a bistro one night. The owner and his wife were there and thought it was cute!! Of course we were friends of the owners and they are not homophobic either. Also, we were in China which is an EASTERN country, but the owners were Icelandic. The races of the people there were varied, but I dont think anyone was offended. Im sure there is no law discriminating against gays kissing in public I think its just wherever PDA is not accepted its not accepted gay or straight.

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I was wondering if there is CURVES for Women in Nigeria?? I know they are all over the world. I am a member of Curves here in the states, and I'm just wondering, because one day I will live in Nigeria! I know they have it in South Africa. I saw one a few months ago when I was there and was really excited. Anyway, thanks for the info!!!

Umm, I would just like to say that last night I read this and laughed so hard!! One thing I can say about Nigerians is that they are fierce and hilarious with it. lol!!! I came BACK to this thread to see if something else was here and read the entire thread again, and laughed as if it were the first time. Wow!! I must say the Yorubas have not lost their sense of humor!!! My boyfriend does this and I thought he was just a funny person. He can be telling a story and I will be almost in the floor laughing (in a public place lol) (He is Yoruba by the way lol) Anyway, This was soooo funny!! I would love to see a short film done from this material, My mind is running thinking of the ways to make this work, (I studied acting and directing in school!! This would just be too funny) OK I need sleep. Sorry to the original poster. I know you are taking this very seriously, which adds to the humor a bit, So I apologize, for the lack of sensitivity, but this thread has made me laugh so hard my sides are hurting and it is NOT from my workout this morning. ahahahaha!! I think I will go to bed, cuz my family prob thinks I'm nuts and need a robot doctor lol!!!! Thanks again. This has made my day again lol!! I think I burned abt 100 calories laughing!!!! grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

No I have lived in South Africa before, but my fiance will never live there. He only goes occationally for business. I dont think I will have a problem living in Nigeria. I love west African and of all my friends there i have never heard such nonsense of women staying with an abusive husband. All my friends (who are west african and married) have wonderful husband who love them and treat them with respect. I had one friend (who is like a sister to me) who did marry and later found that it was a mistake this man abused her, and while it is shameful in Ghana to divorce she did! I (and her family) totally support her and I'd rather have my sister be alive and divorced than miserable and later dead for trying to stick it out with a man who doesnt love her. And no, any man who would beat his wife doesnt love her. She is not his child, and he should not be slapping her. I have had wonderful examples of marriage in my family, but I have friends who were not so lucky. My best friend had a horrible father who beat her mother and her sisters all the time. She has told me the sadest stories. Being 13 years old and holding her mother in her arms as she was bleeding from her ears and worse. Finally the lady got the stregth to leave, but it wasnt easy. Shis is now doing better, but i wouldnt want to see this happen to this woman or anyone else,
Family / Re: My Husband Slapped Me Twice And Now He's Not Talking To Me by tiffcisco(f): 5:09pm On Mar 27, 2009
This is so silly!!! Would you men tell your daughters to stay with an abusive man to avoid a divorce!!! COME ON!!! Honey u need to pray and seek God. He allows for divorce in extreme cases, and abuse is about as extreme as it gets. You are this mans equal and he needs to realize that. This is Africa, Give me a break!!! I am marrying an African and we will live in Africa, but he better belive that if he EVER lays his hand on me, Its OVER (not that he's ever given me any reason to believe he would in the 6 years I've known him, but neither did this womans husband)
Family / Re: My Husband Slapped Me Twice And Now He's Not Talking To Me by tiffcisco(f): 5:03pm On Mar 27, 2009
I totally agree with davidylan!! You have a right to be happy!! Dint feel obligated to this man if he does not respect you!! Def feel obligated to your child though. No matter what that baby is a gift from God. And God will use whomever to accomplish his purpose! Dint feel that because of the baby u should stay either. Many women raise their children without a trifling man around. You can do it!! I would recommend getting a job though. He feels that he can control you with money. That should NEVER be the case
Family / Re: My Husband Slapped Me Twice And Now He's Not Talking To Me by tiffcisco(f): 4:52pm On Mar 27, 2009
hi, Ok I did not read all these statements (cuz there are a lot), so forgive me if anything I say is a repeat. Firstly, Dont blame yourself for not seeing this before. Most violent men appear perfect in the beginning. Secondly, if he slapped you, I'm sure he is verbally abusive as well, which is just as bad and just as stressful. Everyone is telling you to appologize, which you can, (but something tells me you already did) but Im sure his words arent the kindest all the time eaither.

99% of the time if a man hits you once HE WILL do it again. He will appologize call the la luz en mis ojos lol (spanish for the light in my eyes) and bla bla bla. Whatever to get u back, but he WILL most likely strike again. Your main concern should be protecting yourself and your baby. You can forgive him now, but if he does it again. Run like hell. There are two things that are unacceptable PERIOD, Abuse (of any kind) and Infidelity. I know many people will say stay, but if he is beating ur ass, and maybe even your child later, what good is this doing you. You should NEVER be any mans doormat, punching bag, or slave!! You deserve better. So, pray, and forgive, but let him know that if he ever touches you again. You are out of there and will be getting a restraining order. And say it with conviction. Stand your ground and make sure he knows ur not playing. Men who hit women are pathetic. They are not men so they beat up on women and make them feel that they are somehow less. AND YOURE NOT!!!!! I hope things work out!!!

um I guess, but I dont think gays should be compared to lawbreakers and canibals, Thats a bit harsh

lucabrasi:

gay people are abnormal because they are doing stuffs which isnt normal in every sense of the word, the fact that white people having accepted it as the norm and then using all their resources media power e.t.c to push it down our throats doesnt make it normal neither.

here is a scenario for you as well, i am free to walk naked and then stand in front  of everybody both old and young and then proceed to self-service off,why should i be arrested?after all its my body you get it?

i can have sex in a public place, even if a primary school happens to be there or children happen to be looking at us,its got nothing to do with me, and i am free to do what i like after all im an adult right??

if i and my partner, either male or female agree to kill one of us in cold blood and fry the meat and one of us consumes it,surely by your reasoning and assertion that is totally legal and the living one eating the dead partner's meat is within his/her right??

these examples are SICK!! In what country would this be legal??

Gays (mostly men) would never NEED to rob a bank because most of them do EXTREEMLY well. WHY bc they have to be soooo much better at everything, because they are JUDGED so much by everyone. My best friend who is gay makes $200,000 a year plus expenses, so ya, I doubt he will EVER have any interest in robbing a bank. He's just not attracted to women,
