Stop decieving yourselves and find your way out of Nigeria b4 it implodes, senior civil servants, senior bankers, Nurses and Doctors have all left Nigeria to the UK and other western countries, most of them do not regret. My best decision ever in life at 40yrs plus was moving my family to the uk, i can categorically say btw my wife and i we earnd excess of £50,000 pounds in a year after tax and pension, do i have savings yet? Yes i have a little bit and I am fulfilled, living very comfortably with 2 good cars, dont worry about school fees any more, my parents and my inlaws are on 100,000 naira allowance monthly fully funded by us, am happy and my house hold is happy.

The reality is captured from the words in bold.

What is bad in this.....if your annual Salary is 20k and your monthly take home is 1,493, multiply this by 12 months ( 1,493 X 12 = 17,916 ) so 20,000 - 17,916 = 2,084.....is £2,084 too much to pay for tax annually? Maybe the poster shud go to a country where they do not have to pay Tax at all grin grin

Nigerians no like to hear tax. But in reality, 20k per annum is in the minimum wage band... How's Life really like for minimum wage earners there?

Those who want a better life will still travel out of this hell-hole. 20,000 £ is more than 34 million Naira. And that is the least annual salary the poster wrote there. You dey whine? Which job wan pay a Nigerian youth up to 34 million NGN every year for inside Naija? Abi nah all these one-man business wey full everywhere?

If you work for 3 years, you will be able to invest in a business in Nigeria that someone residing in Nigeria will not be able to start with 12 years of working.

So because you have 1 uncle or aunt that didn't make it In uk , every body who went to uk never make it. Even in Somalia , some Nigerians still make let alone uk.
As a carer in uk who earns minimum wage if you work hard and spend wisely you can save 300 to 500 pounds monthly after all your expenses. How many Nigerians on minimum wage can save the equivalent in 1yr in Nigeria.

That $300 to $500 the career saved in a month, is it not savings that will later be expended in that same economy.

If I save in Nigeria, I save it to later spend in Nigeria, so same applies to the savings in the UK to be later spent in the UK.

Stop tying your UK savings to a future Nigerian expenditure.

That's absurd
Re: Yearly Salary & Monthly Income After Tax Deductions In UK by Solababa91(m): 12:26pm On May 05
You think £1000 Is sane as #1000 naira? £50 will do a lot in feeding you in a month in UK. You want to live a life of luxury up there, you pay for it through taxes.
Re: Yearly Salary & Monthly Income After Tax Deductions In UK by headboyprince(m): 12:38pm On May 05

Average monthly rent in UK is £1,200 (london x2 that amount), average utilities is £200, £35 for internet, phone around £40, groceries around £500 monthly for a family of 3, and average bus and tram pass (for 1x person) for a month is £100

That's £2,075

Given the average annual salary is £40,000 for full-time jobs and the monthly net is averagely £2,693, your leftover is:

£2,693 less £2,075 = £618, or £20 per day.

This doesn't include clothing, toiletries, movies, haircuts, gate passes, rentals, health, insurances, entertainment, savings, gifts, etc

okay do how much the average nigeria spends on rent, food, transport, clothes, insurance, electricity, gas, entertainment. ill be watiing
you guys sound like people in nigeria live in rent free houses and pick food from the ground.

over there you live and feed well on average income and still have savings, you have all basics covered while the average income in nigeria cant buy a bag of rice.

That savings do not get to Nigeria all the time in equal amount and when they do they chase few goods due to inflation in Nigeria. We should not simplify all these things.

My point is not to discourage anyone travelling to foreign countries to live and earn. The unnecessary comparison made with their currency and that of Nigeria is of no use. Not all savings or foreign remittance over there get to Nigeria. When those foreign remittance get to Nigeria. They are used to chase FEW GOODS put that in mind due to inflation and economic dynamics everywhere.
I largely agree with your points. But see at some point we have to make comparisons. Foreign remittances are not necessarily chasing few goods at the moment. Practically speaking, Even with rising cost got goods in naija, What $1k or £1k did for me 10months ago is very small compared to what it does for me at the moment.
I would like u to tell me why u say, not all remittance get to Nigeria. I don't get that part. Is it missing along the transfer route? Relocating to UK in itself is not what will make u wealthy, it can however fetch you a pathway to plan for a super comfortable life in the very near and distant future. if you do things correctly 85 out of 100 times u will achieve this.
Nigeria on the other is a place u can just become wealthy with the way things are, but from what I know the probability of that happening is 30%(less if we are being honest)

You are right as far as I am...

The more u step up the ladder the more ur expenditures grows in size sebi u know?

Left to me, the only thing that make UK better is the minimal social vices and ready made amenities..every other sides they are below Nigeria
But in Nigeria, the growth in people's expenditure is exponential while they r not really stepping up any ladder.
Meanwhile if minimal social vices, ready made amenities are available in UK, that is a huge part of what constitute quality/standard of living. Those 2 things u call ONLY, those are the things a lot of people want want in this life, and they will have peace and live happily forever with their loved ones.

lol 500 or 6000 euros per year is a huge money in the uk. you can use it to pay for your mortage towards owning a house or even save it to buy a second hand car. you can get a car for 7k euros. or even save and start a side hustle.

for you mind, the money wont be valuable in the uk. lol. grin
