Must you make first class? Just focus on your studies pass, pray and border yourself about how to get a job in Naija....good luck. If the first class comes congratulations if it doesn't you are still good, I'm not sure its a first class ticket to getting a job in Naija anymore

I was about to say otherwise but it's your first year, it is still possible to make first class. Most school first year is just 10% of the general grade of a student so I will say it's very possible.

If u can achieve at least 4.70 GPA in each of your remaining 9 semesters, U will make ur first class. Anything below, 2:1. All the best.

Yes you can.

If you get 5.00 for the next seven semesters, you'll finish with a 4.72
Remaining semester = 7
Possible GPA = 5.00
5 X 7 = 35

35 + 2.8 = 37.8/8 semester = 4.72
Your final CGPA if you get a 5.00 from now till your last semester will be 4.72

The minimum GPA you can get in any given semester to achieve this is 4.7. Good luck

He has 7 semesters remaining. A whole academic session is for IT in a university of Technology. So he should as well endeavour to score A in his IT.

I started with 2.83 because I got admitted very late in the first semester. All I had was just 2 weeks of lecture, no CAs in all courses and just exams. So, you wouldn't understand cos you were not in my shoes

Its mostly about 2 things
1) Remembrance memory....cz u can read like mumu nd still not remember sum things wen u enta hall

2) lecturers.....i wont say much here...but any undergraduate or fresh graduate would know wat m talking about....back then in my year 2 i had a lecturer who made it clear 7k or fail d course....our best student den nd sum churchy people tot he wz joking nd dey all failed. So OP Just do ur best nd remember to improve urslef with alot of skills so it would boost ur opportunities.....there wz a set where their best student graduated with 2:2...nigerian companies were looking at his grades but a professor abroad wz ready to resign unless he was employed nd till date his coursemates still gives him stuffs to help them with....so b d best version of urself..school doesnt 100% determines ur progress.

There was a course handled by one Reverend father, this man told our course Rep to task us o. I refused to comply.

Guess what? He gave me a 'D' the only lowest grade I ever got in school..

Worse was many I know I was miles better than had A and B.
I knew how hard I worked for the course. I covered the textbook 2x plus additional books both eBooks and hardcopies.

I graduated from University with Third Class after all struggle to graduate with at least second class upper but believe me immediately after NYSC i got a contract with over 120k allowances for over two years and now i got a permanent appointment with more than 70k earnings while my first class mate was struggling for job application, that's destiny. BUT remember as i told you DO the BEST and leave the rest with ALLAH

OPS, Mathematically its still possible to make a first class depending on some factors

1. Why did you end up with 2.8 in your first semester:? was it because you didn't take your studies seriously or you sincerely gave it your best shot yet you still ended up with 2.8. if you former was the reason then u did have to sit up

2. This is Nigeria where in some cases no matter how hard you tried, some lecturers are not helping. We have those who would demand for money to give you an A, we have those who would give you what your script portray. we have those who only reserve A for people who are ready to allow them access to their honey pot.

3. Most Importantly you have to realise its not all about the grades. I have seen people with first class and still without a job for the simply fact that they can't think outside the box. you first class might get you hired but ultimately its what you can deliver that would matter.

If i were you i did drop this idea of first class and just study hard and see what fate brings my way and while at that make sure you acquire enough practical skills that would make you relevant in the society.

The higher you go, the tougher it becomes. You are not serious at all starting young academic career with a lower 2.2

Now I'm on 4.07CGPA after my 300L..

Even its still possible for him to make a first class if he could be writing a GP of 4.5 every semester,he could still make it..
But 2.1 should be his target for now..
That's very easy to achieve with a lot of determination t,hardwork and proper planning..

First it is possible,though a bit unrealistic. It depends on a lot of factors actually, like how good or wicked your lecturers are, how sincere is the marks accorded to non examinable courses (like lab courses, project, IT report (in all these courses, its just God last last) ), how much are you willing to put into it and sacrifice and how close are you to your God, because you will need better divine intervention even with all of the above. So taking it serially, to finish with a first class in your case you will at most hit the edge (like a 4.5 ish) even with all As in your courses. And thats why i said it is a bit unrealistic because getting all As is hard, though not impossible, I mean people have done it. Second, are lecturers in your department enemies of progress, hateful old crones that dont want their students to be better than them, are they ethnically or religiously bias. You have to check all this because you could read hard, write well and merit your As but the lecturers could give your grade to someone else. Because you started with a 2.80, so they may be like; this guy cant possibly get all As, he is not that brilliant. Trust me that happens a lot. Third, are you willing to put in the long hours to read (reading can be very boring, i know), are you willing to sacrifice sleep time to burn the mid night candle, are you willing to research and go the extra mile to look for more information, are you willing to boycott the social events, friday clubbing, girlfriends and the emotional roller coaster they bring, are you willing to be seen as a book worm, etc. Fourth, hope you are close to your God; because you can read, go into the hall and forget everything. You could read the wrong parts and your exam questions could come from a different part. You could offend a lecturer unconsiously and the guy will target you. You could fall sick, be short of cash mid - semester, etc. All these, a man can't plan against, its just God's grace and mercies alone. Last you need to temper yourself son. Keep the hope or faith alife (i am telling you, if you lose hope, all these things will be useless), develop good productive habits, ignore naysayers, get good friends (not those that go around saying school na scam and be killing your spirit) and the sky's your limit. Sure the chances of you hitting home are slim, but its there.

Why not! You just have to work harder. Maintain distinctions in all your courses. Again, it depends on the level you are too. If you are in 300 level, it might be difficult though. Goodluck.

You can if you get 5.00 in the remaining six semesters of your stay in school. It is a tall order, however, nothing is impossible especially with God. However, second class won't be a bad grade in case you are unable to hit your target.
