The problem with Nigeria goes beyond individual president and will take a while to fix. However, fixing the country aright can be done (with a focused and resolute team leading the change both in words and action over a sustained period of time against the rotten system we have in place at the moment. As it is now, even if by miracle you get a perfect man/woman to lead, s/he can only do so much. Those expecting GEJ to perform magic are just day-dreaming. To get a common Ward Councillor elected in Nigeria (from the very little l know) takes several consensus agreements, deal-cuttings and all kinds of compromises, just to accommodate all kinds of stakeholders, strange bedfellows brought together by a common aim; to eat the proverbial 'national cake'. Sample this; a State governor wanted to sanitize a chaotic transport delivery sub-sector. A group of illiterate touts who control that sector went to him and boldly told the man to stay off. The governor refused and began to implement his reform. Result? The state was brought to its knees via riots, strikes, killings and all kinds of violence. The governor had to retreat through what they called a 'modified reform'. Till now that sector remained a sore thumb in that state. Who to lead Nigeria now? Its not PDP, ACN, CPC or PPP or whatever other alphabets they gather themselves under. It is we the people! Not from Abuja but from our various localities, through sustained sensitization, infiltrating the rank and file of existing pressure groups, establishing new ones, linking hands across parochial divides till we are able to gather enough force and go for the jugular of the mediocrity and lawlessness that is laughing at every well-meaning Nigerian in the face. |

shymexx:And how do you suggest we do that bloke? Revolution? Not gon' happen in this clime. Folks here are too cowardly and feeble to step on it and do what needs to be done! They'll just cower in at the first sight of an APC. The January #SubsidyProtests buttress my point. |

nitlad: Lmao... I know Nigerians are cowardly, that was why I suggested a Gaddafi-esque dictator, or A Jerry Rawlings... With the current system of government we've and the people knee-deep in the system/power brokers - even Jesus would have a difficult time ruling Nigeria... And the people are not bothered as long as it's someone from their tribe that's in charge, to be honest... |

Letz stop deluding ourselves with who is this and that. 2 change Nigeria for Good, we personally need to change our orientation of how we do things in Nigeria, even when a corrupt free president is in power, do U think those people under him as his cabinet members will be corrupt free. We ourselves should first be corrupt free then those villagers should be taught about their human rights and the government should make their lives easy by acknowleging their rights, the police and all armed forces should be scrutinized and the bad eggs put away, the prisons should have a rehabilitation facility to educate the imates and hope should be given to the mass for them to know y they are living and why they should be surviving. The schools should be seriously looked into, the youths should be educated to be competitive and industrious. We ar just lazy and when U ar lazy U hate and blame other people. I think we can start from here N/B: most of these musics we listen to also deceive us. No body in Nigeria sing good music again apart from ''girl this and that, love do me dis and dat, especially dz flavor songs, etc'' foreign songs like rick ross dem is '' gold watch and riches and bitch dat, bitch this, though I love Tupac cos he is a realist rapper'' and also we should learn how to love one woman and not being promiscuous cos datz not life. |

Walahi, I no get answer. At least not right now.....My brains still be-fogged with many issues troubling my personal life that I can't think of a candidate capable of leading my country in a way in which the lives of ordinary citizens (myself included) would be positively affected. Pardon me, it's like finding a needle in a haystack. (Loosening the first stack of hay......finding needle......faints!) |

Who says Jonathan isn't capable enough? He got errybody to vote for him, though most now say it was against their better judgement. He's already making plans to win the next elections. Boko Haram, harsh critics, corruption, fuel etc., and he still seems to be going strong. What are we saying, some people even praise OBJ, IBB, even Abacha. Anybody is good enough to rule Nigeria, so long as they can figure out a way to get there. Be there dreaming, y'all. When will Nigerians learn sef? |
