I've got to give it to the Army folks, there is greater transparency here than what obtains in the civil service.

ARMY REDEPLOYS SENIOR OFFICERS

As part of ongoing transformation efforts following recent promotions and retirements in the Nigerian Army, 317 officers have been redeployed to fill the vacuum and maintain effective command structure in Army units, formations and the Defence Headquarters.

One of the senior officers included is the erstwhile Chief of Training and Operations, Nigerian Army, Major General Lawrence Ngubane, who has now been moved to the Defence Headquarters and appointed as the Chief of Training and Operations, while the former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Major General Jack Nwaogbo, is now the Chief of Training and Operations at Army Headquarters in his stead. Former GOC 2 Division, Major General Mohammed Abubakar, becomes the Chief of Army Administration (COAA) at the Army Headquarters.

Similarly, the former Chief of Army Standard and Evaluation (CASE), Major General Shehu Abdul-Kadir, has been appointed as the Force Commander (FC) of the African-led International Support Mission for Mali (AFISMA). The new CASE is Major General Paul Isang.

Furthermore, the new Commander for the Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), is Major General Babagana Monguno. Major General Daniel Kitchener is now Chief of Logistics (COLOG) at the Army Headquarters, while Major General Emmanuel Bassey becomes the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP).

The new GOC 3 Division is Major General Ebiobowei Awala, while Major General Ahmed Jibrin becomes the new GOC 2 Division. The former Commander, Nigerian Army Engineers, Major General Ashimiyu Olaniyi, is now the new GOC 82 Division.

Other new appointments include Major General Obinali Ariahu as Chief of Research and Development at the Defence Headquarters;
Major General John Zaruwa appointed as the Coordinator, Peacekeeping Operations at the Ministry of Defence;
Major General Salihu Uba appointed as Commandant, Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Centre (NAPKC);
the former Defence Adviser at the United Nations Headquarters New York, Major General Garba Audu is now Chief of Logistics at the Defence Headquarters;
the new GOC 81 Division, Major General Obi Umahi and the new Army Headquarters Garrison Commander is now Major General Obidah Ethan.
The new Director General, Defence Industries Corporation (DICON), is Major General Ekwenugo Chioba and Major General Abubakar Gana is the new Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Logistics (NACOL).
The former Commandant, Major General Adekunle Martins, is now Commander, Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC), while the new Commander, Nigerian Army Signals (NAS), is Major General Abayomi Olonisakin.
The new Commander, Nigerian Army Supply and Transport Corps (NACST), is now Major General Emmanuel Nienge, while the Commander Nigerian Army Armoured Corps (NAAC), is Major General John Nwaoga.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Bola Koleoso, has also been redeployed as the new Chief of Civil-Military Affairs (CCMA). The former CCMA, Major General Bitrus Kwaji, is now the Group Managing Director, Nigerian Army Welfare Limited and Guarantee (NAWLG).

The new Director of Army Public Relations is Brigadier General Ibrahim Attahiru formerly of the Defence Headquarters.

aryzgreat: I have said it before and will say it again that there is a deliberate effort to stop or pull down igbos since after the way and this campaign is headed by no other tribe than yorubas and hausas!

The Writer of this gibberish should start from giving us ALL(NOT SOME DEPTS DAT IGBOS GOT PROMOTED) the departments in d Army, the number of staff and their tribe(since he want to use tribe to get attention), then the statistics of all tribes promoted so we can all see how Ihejirika commited a crime here

Secondly y is it that of all the listed departments igbos are all on lower rank and top ranks were headed by hausa and yoruba? Does this not show how igbos have been supressed prior to Ihejirika emergence? why was there no aalarm raised when d igbos were marginalised?

Why has there been recent outcry by yorubas especially about igbos in top govt position? Can the same set of crybabies also check NPA, NNPC,NAVY, CUSTOM, NIMASA etc were yoruba and hausas has turned to their town union and lingua franca in those establishment are hausa and yoruba? Am begining to think this people have hidden agenda to either petition out any igbo in top rank or supress them, why is there outcry only when yorubas seem to be loosing grip?
they cried wolf at Aviation, Immigration, Now Aermy and even super eagles undecided This is really bad. Live and let leave. Let us go u say no, allow us survive in nigeria u say no! Dem swear for una?

I tink the you shuld ask urself why is everybody against the Igbo? Dia is Nepotism everywhere but d problem of an igbo man is dt he doesn't apply wisdom in what he does. The igbo person always likes to dominate and he makes it obvious without having a strong case to support his actions. That's why the igbo will always loose out in any battle.

Something like this is bound to happen. But if this is true, I don't see any reason why he would deny other Southerners promotion?

What you guys have to realize is that in the North there are various ethnic groups, but Hausa is their main language.
They are different in a way. But in the South, we can never be united.

If this is true, its bad. But that is how it has been in naija since since after the civil war. The north particularly, hausas and fulanis have all been doing this in both d military and paramilitary till date. So there is noÞhing new here

In fact you seem to derive a special joy in putting one up on others who are at the receiving end. This logic is confusing!!!

Although, truth be told, I do not believe in this mischief riddled report. The author should give a full list of all appointments carried out recently by the Nigerian army and not some selective positions to buttress his dubious argument. I smell bullshit here.

He who ask for equity must come with clean hand!!!
GBAM!!! I agree 100%.

Sam Milla: Philip Emeagwali - The father of computer - Igbo

Chike Obi - Best Nigerian Mathematician - Igbo

Chinua Achebe - Best novelist - Igbo.

Why is it only in the army that every other tribe came out with higher grades? While the Igbos are being promoted.

During the time of Danbazu, why were there no Senior officer of Igbo decent?

Just like what happened in the aviation ministry, you northerners held this country hostage for long, its time to cry.

This is needless. A talented person cannot remain in a place where his talent is not being appreciated. People should start taking initiative. Gen. Ihejirika cannot be the COAS longer than a prescribed period of time.

It is only under GEJ govt that people open mouth to talk. Whoever heard of this under OBJ, Abacha, Babangida, even Yar'adua? Smh. Being simple and naive is a big disadvantage though he might be lucky.

You are right with the bold...there is nepotism everywhere..unless we don't want to state the obvious truth...but Igbos do it and shove it into your face and tell you to go hug transformer and all sorts of in your face attitude....while others do it without making noise.

To me...it s all bad and lack of mutual trust is at the heart of it.

Doing it brazenly (if at all the report is true..which I doubt) is hitting at the nerve center of the Nigerian State.

Nigeria became what it is 2day when ;
1. In 1957 ,d north rejected independence for d con3 cos they were waitn for Balewa to be ready.
2. Murtala Mohammed went abt disobeying and calling hz C-in-C (ironsi) a fo.0.l b4 junior officers cos his region commands most of d rifle men in d military.
3. Brig Ogundipe was by passed for Gowon cos he's nt from d north.( Gowon is a born again and prayin 4 d con3 he destroyed, 2day!)
A certain region believs ds con3 and some offices belong to them . Can they give us a rundown of promotions in d military since 1960?
It is ds same ppl dat criticised Azazi as d NSA till he ws removed. What has Dasuki done diffrently? Were Dasuki to be from a diffrent ethnic group, ds same cabal would protest d fact dat he retired as a Col and cnt give orders to Generals.
My advice to d C-in-C is to fire all d politicians in military 'costume' b4 we witness 1966 again! Obj did it and nothing happened.
All d disgruntled officers mentioned in d report shld be fired and put under surveilance.

Demdem: This is damning if true.

It's very true.. I have a family member who should have been promoted.. If it was done by merit, he should have been.. but thanks to whoever is in charge, it didn't happen.. When people come and say most Igbos are tribalistic, they'll start cursing and abusing but it's actually very true and i've experienced it 1st hand so many times..

[b]So were the Hausas/Fulanis found doing in the Army in 1960s'together wt the Igbos; then later the Hausa/Fulanis in the 1970s', 1980s',1990s',2000s' again.....

The Judiciary is now completely doominated ad taken over by the North ad has been so bad sn 1987 to date ad should be expected to remain so for the next 20years i.e.to remain so dominated by the Hausa/FULANI WHO SIMILARLY DO SAME TO ALL to all finance depts. of federal Ministries,Departments ad Agencies'.

The list of such atrocities in Nigeria is endless. Many federal univs. are colonies to some groups ad interests, cliques ad gangs of self-seekers.

Nigeria having not finally ad properly settled its CONSTITUTIONAL & POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT and HISTORY will continue to witness hiccups..... ad may finally get pushed to the precipice of violent changes if peaceful change through SNC ad invoking of the 1914 AMALGAMATION Clause fOR 2014 ad Beyond is not put in place for the ethnic nationalities to realise or, actualise themselves......WHOSE SUCCESSIVE SUBJUGATIONS AS SEVERALLY MADE BY THOSE WITH POWER ad ADVANTAGE seem to PUSH NIGERIA TO THE BRINK.

Only PRAYER without benefit of how other nations do manage federations(eg. AUSTRALIA, CANADA, USA, SWISSwinkon their own as well as deeper understanding will not help matters.

SEE NIGERIA, SEE Troubleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

That's a point. But how can the Igbos apply wisdom? When the Hausas did theirs, it was so glaring. Go to DPR and you'll see a lot of Hausas that can't write a simple letter.
I would expect the COAS to recruit Igbos, obviously. What I'm not comfortable with is the fact that other Southerners are not even a top ranking officer. Or is it that there are no worthy soldiers in Edo, Calabar, Ijaw or Middle belt?
