@Symphony007, I think you are the one missing the real picture here. The average Nigerian on the street cares little about Obama's snub - fact. This should come as no surprise since his visit would have added little real value to their lives. You know as much as I do that those who really care about such matters at the uppity politicians who occupy the corridors of power in our land, whose very legitimacy hinges on uncle Sam's patronage. It was to this group that the snub was directed and delivered, so it is important to keep this discussion in perspective. In February, Nigeria’s ambassador to the United Nations, Ade Adefuye had said – in a reaction to claims that the US was displeased with the pardon granted to ex-convict Diepreye Alamieyeseigha – that “the Alamieyeseigha issue is not enough to weaken the bonds between the two countries,” and that “we are continuing discussions on the exchange of visits by the two Presidents. And we are hopeful that the promise made by President Obama to visit Nigeria will be fulfilled.” |

Continue with yor sufferhead! Let the less than 1% continue to squander your money while you hold out playing stupid patriotism. His visit will not bring you money according to your parochial mentality, but his refusal to come simply signifies instability in our country that invariably scares off foreign investors. Need i remind you that you are blessed with best looters in the world as Government officials that lacks business and administrative acumen. |

Kind of mixed feeling to me. Wish that he visits Nigeria b/c of few good ones amongst us and wish that he doesn't come b/c of the corrupt politicians which will count it as achievement. |

Symphony007: are you so dull to realise that the u.s is declining? Nigeria must partner with countries that are like her. Growing! Like brazil whoes president was in aso rock a few months ago. choi! Symphony! I ve always said that if the govt must use apologists...at least they should @ least use intelligent ones! You 've proven again that you are irredeemably lacking in intelligence. Biko...according to what research or statistics do you have it that the US is declining? And according to what research do you have it that Brazil is more beneficial to our economy... Use your brains small na. Google the largest importer of Nigeria's oil...when you get the answer, flog ursef and tell your brain that it should have added it up that its in Nigeria's interest to associate with the US. But... We both know your brain isnt capable of sometin like that. So... I expect you to quote this post and say some more stupid than you have said previously... I just love reading your replies...makes me appreciate having a functional brain. |

Symphony007: an obama visit today is worthless my dear, is this not the same obama that visited burma where the government is cheering on the massacre of muslims? Lately the only head of state to visit ghana is the criminal president of iran, ahmejinada meanwhile nigeria has welcomed, dilma rouseff, angela merkel, david cameron, indonesian president, zuma, mevedev and many more, these are the countries that mattar, not a declining power. you took it right outta me sir. am just angry at the Nigerians that are just over reasoning the whole thing. Right now we should be talking about improving ties with emerging powers, since they are also willing to share knowledge with us and stay away from our internal affairs. Do you know that techno is now produced in Ethiopia? this is evidence of their strong ties with China. we need to learn from all these emerging economies and stop worrying about these bullies that keep choking us from all angles. |

Pedagogue: D deep resentment of Obama gainst CORRUPTION and cluelessness that JOnathan's government represents is the only reason why the US under Obama has been dealing with Nigeria @ arm's lenghth!!!if u think america isnt corrupt then ure a maggot. If u think america ddnt go thru d kind of crisis confronting us presently in nig then ure a slowpoke. Ur resentment 4 GEJ doesnt change d fact dat he is d most qualified n democratic president nig ever had. Fact is we dnt need him(Obama) here. He shd fix d their own numerous problems first e.g shootings by gun-carrying imbeciles. If u think d US is dat relevant in our modern world den u're dreaming. Is he better than Clinton who visits Nigeria all the time. If he likes let him not visit. We won't miss him either. But one thing is sure, he has not really visited Africa if he has not come to Nigeria. And he will later regret in time to come for having not visited the real 'God's Own Country'. Believe it or not! |

PetroDolla: good talk, Obama. haba Africans. *21st century will be shaped not by Moscow but Accra*. and you bought that talk. oya your president should go and solve the Syrian crisis or contribute to the troops in Mali, C.A.R and Congo. why didn't Ghana mediate in the Sudan/South Sudan conflict. (last i remember, it was Nigerian and South African diplomats that spear headed the discussion) and you still believe any olodo that says Ghana is important to west Africa. this only proves how irrelevant his visit was to your country and is to Africa. he's just coming to blablabla |

sucess001: if after this you don't realize that your parents have wasted a lot of money sending you to school, then wahala don dey be that. didn't US and Britain threaten sanctions and aid withdrawal when our senate debated the same sex marriage bill? why do you think that bill has not passed house of rep by now, not to talk of it getting to the president. during Obasanjo's regime in 2001, Nigeria sought to partner with North Korean to help us develop our own missile technology, the US government threatened us with sanctions and the idea was dropped. so my guy, we've been threatened twice and those are just threats that were made publicly. as far as i know there must have been others that were issued privately. dude, are sure you are enlightened? cos you sound to me like a bush man with access to internet you now see how ignorant you are. |

You guys make it look like Nigerians just missed the second coming of Jah Jesus.. Why must we drool with this infuriating level of inferiority complex at every turn?? Lets face it; This is good news. This man is a con artist and a ruthless killer rolled into one body. He HATES this continent and is willing to destroy this continent for America. He has already packed the Somalian coast with the biggest armada of warships since the world wars pretending to fight pirates in dingy when he can easily bring peace to Somalia by just raising a finger. That military deployments should worry conscious Africans,. We are fighting in Mali , in Libya, In Nigeria, Niger might fellow soon while CAR is on fire , all because he was willing to destroy Libya to steal her riches for western corporations. . , arming thugs and extremists in the process. When black Africans were being killed in Libya, while others drowned in the Mediterranean, did you guys hear anything from Obama? Since the elections were concluded did you hear him talk of Darfur or Congo? This house negro should be chased away from this beautiful continent. He is responsible for so much deaths here. He is not needed in Nigeria, we are already brimming with our over sized share of ruthless ejiots. 2 Likes |

Freiburger: You talk about staying close to the Liberal side of the world in order to achieve growth, yet we all know that economic power has fully shifted to the east (China, Russia, India) and South America (Brazil), and African economies are equally experiencing considerable amount of growth. Europe's in full recession with their economies in contraction (France just joined the club a few days ago), and the US's still struggling to pull itself out of it. Oh did I mention that they are heavily indebted to the Chinese? So pls do tell what the so-called liberal world bring to the table. Dude, I have no qualms if Obama refuses to visit Nigeria. That's his choice. But don't make it look like it's such a big deal. I'm even more interested in the Chinese premier's or Brazilian president's visit 1 Like |
