Infidel: Those who have already rejected God's wisdom in favor of a more self-serving and humanistic ideology cannot be pushed any further away. They are already at the bottom. The Gospel message is not about the messenger who delivers it. This is a trap of humanism and egocentric indoctrination. When the soul is lost, so is spiritual understanding. A man must first acknowledge he is wrong before he can consider the alternatives. We live in a generation where such humility is seen as weakness and ignorance. No wonder our conceit and arrogance are leading towards social and moral collapse. . .Selah |

The study was on our "Undivided Loyalty in Serving God" Matthew 6:24. And I learnt that my love for God must be beyond my love for fellow men! To serve God whole-heartedly is to give Him the first place in my affection and devotion, presenting and preserving my hearts to Him as sacred ground on which neither mammon nor the world is allowed to intrude or trepass. God must be Master and Lord of ALL. I also learnt that "he who makes adequate preparation for eternity is WISE while the FOOL makes No plan for eternity". Friends! The coming of the Lord is Imminent! It only takes a prepared heart to meet Him in the sky (rapture). Let's be watchful and more prayerful, Serving God with our whole heart. All the best! |

I didn't go to church today cos I was "strong" from medication I had taken, but I watched most of my favourite preachers on TBN. Notable for me today was the message by Joel Osteen with a reading from Acts 2:26, the Message translation: "I have pitched my tent in the land of hope." I was very encouraged by this great preacher whose messages I listen to weekly because of the encouragement they bring to me. I also receive his daily word in my email. Excerpts from his message: Today's Word from Joel and Victoria Where have you pitched your tent today? What are you expecting to happen in your life? What kind of attitude do you have? If you’re focused on what’s wrong, or what’s not working, it’s time to dig up your tent stakes! It’s time to pack up your belongings and move out of the land of discouragement. Move out of the “Not-going-to-happen” sub-division. Move out of “Can’t-do-it-ville.” It’s time to leave “Self-pity Estates.” Get out of those areas and move into the land of hope, faith, and expectation. Maybe you don’t quite know how to get there, but now’s the time to start looking for that new place. Open your heart to the Lord and ask Him to direct your thoughts and expectations. The Bible says that those who hope in the Lord will never be put to shame. You can trust God to order your steps. You can trust Him to move you from the land of disappointment to the land of hope today! A Prayer for Today Heavenly Father, thank You for ordering and directing my steps. Thank You for taking me to the land of hope! I release all my past hurts and disappointments to You today and ask that You fill me with Your faith and expectancy for a bright future! In Jesus’ Name, Amen. |

What I learnt in church on sunday the 30th, is the importance of thanksgiving to God. God gave a certain American woman of God in the fifties a vision, at a time when she was suffering from the then incurable small pox. She had prayed and prayed and God showed her a vision in which she saw two scales, representing prayer and thanksgiving. The scale of prayer was so heavy that it weighed down completely. God then instructed her to henceforth, fill the scale of thanksgiving too and it was not until then that she got her healing. God desires our praise, that is the only thing we can offer unto Him. Most times we expect God to meet our needs in isolation of the fact that God too has needs of the praise and worship of Him. Furthermore, God is more impressed with the prayer of thanksgiving because everybody, including the unbelievers pray to God and He answers many of these requests according to the faith of men, His mercies and His will. Paul and Silas praised God at the midnight hour, which is figurative of a time in one's life when there seems to be no ray of hope. God is saying that our praise is more important than our prayers at such times as these. So in the midst of that trial, that sickness, that debt, that grief, that setback, that failure, whatever it is, quit praying and lift up your voice in praise to God. Praise Him for who He is, worship Him for His holiness and majesty, tell Him that you trust His word, because He is not a man that He should lie. Tell Him that you know that all things will work together for your good because His word says that He loves you with an everlasting love, and his mercies endure forever. Thank Him because you trust His sense of judgement, and You know that He will grant Your request when He knows that you are ready for it. remind Him that He said that He will supply all your NEEDS according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus, therefore if the thing is not forthcoming, it is merely your want not your need and thank Him for witholding it from you(that one may be a bit difficult but its true) Thanks for reading, i hope this has blessed you tremendously. |

Infidel: Infidel you are amazing - you slept all through yet you wanted proved to you that God Exists, how? Was is to be done in your dreams? Walk around and just look at the people that are walking around you - the diversity alone that in 1000000000000000 people you will not find 2 to look exactly alike (except id twins) should tell you clearly that God exists - who else can do that. God is found in simple things like breathing in and out, rising and setting of the sun, the digestive system etc I mean who else could have designed you the way you are. |

Study 42: UNDIVIDED LOYALTY IN SERVING GOD Matthew 6:24 “No man can serve two masters.” Our blessed Lord here shows the utter impossibility of serving two incompatible, opposing, and different masters. As light and darkness are different so God and Satan, God and dead idols, God and the world, God and mammon, God and self are different. Satan, the god of this world, with mammon, will want to be our master. We have a choice to make if we truly desire to serve God for no man can serve two masters. To serve God is to give our hearts to Him, to love Him supremely, to allow Him to reign over us and rule all our decisions and actions. We cannot serve God and at the same time give our heart, interest and devotion to an object that is incompatible with Him. Serving God as Master demands that we reject the lordship of Satan and other gods; loving God implies that we hate every competitor that will take our heart away from Him; holding on to Him makes us despise the world and the flesh. Knowing the utter impossibility of serving God and mammon, we make an irreversible covenant with God to serve Him, only, always and ever. 1. THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF SERVING GOD AND MAMMON Matthew 6:24; Luke 16:13; Joshua 24:14-21; 1 Kings 18:21; Hosea 10:1,2; James 1:8; 1 Samuel 7:3; Matthew 4:8-11; Galatians 1:10; John 6:24-27. “No man can serve two masters.” Christ’s declaration is true at all times, in all ages. This is a law of human nature. A servant cannot serve two masters at the same time. His affection, loyalty and obedience would be divided and he would fail altogether in his duty to one or the other. No one can serve the true God and at the same time be supremely engaged in loving the world or serving any selfish interests. Our devotion to the world and the things of the world will interfere with our commitment to God. “Mammon” means or refers to money, riches, wealth and because of man’s sinful tendency to love and trust in riches, it was eventually considered as an idol - a substitute for the true God. How dangerous it is to set our hearts upon riches, seeing how easy it is for men to make it a god! “The love of money is the root of all evil” (1 Timothy 6:9,10). When money becomes an idol master, a god of the heart, the true God is forsaken and man becomes destitute, without God in this world and without hope in eternity. 2. THE IMPLICATION OF SERVING GOD AS MASTER Matthew 6:24; Luke 4:5-8; Malachi 1:6; Deuteronomy 10:12; 13:1-4; 30:20; Joshua 22:5; 2 Chronicles 34:33; 2 Timothy 2:19-21; Hebrews 12:28. “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” From the text we learn what it means to serve God as Master. The Lord uses the words “serve”, “love” and “hold to.” To serve God is to love Him and to hold to Him or to cleave to Him. To serve God is to love Him, not in words only but in deed and in truth. He who serves God truly and acceptably must serve Him wholeheartedly. God will not permit a rival to share the throne of our heart with Him. If our hearts are divided, He will say, “they have not wholly followed Me” (Numbers 32:11). Our text also makes it clear that to serve God is to “hold to” Him or to cleave unto Him, that is, to cleave unto Him with a perpetual covenant in all conditions and situations in life. It is to hold to Him and His commandments, even when those commandments are not pleasing to the flesh. It is to give God the first place in our affection and devotion, presenting and preserving our hearts to Him as sacred ground on which neither mammon nor the world is allowed to intrude or trespass. God must be Master and Lord of all. 3. THE IMPIETY OF SERVING GOD AND MAMMON Matthew 6:24; 2 Kings 17:7-9,25,33,34; Luke 16:13;1 Timothy 6:9,10; Mark 10:17,21-24; James 4:4; Philippians 3:17-21; 1 John 2:15-17; Colossians 3:1-5. “Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” In broad sense, mammon is whatever seeks to compete with God in our lives - riches, the world or whoever wants to displace God in our lives and be another master! The prince of this world is ever seeking to be lord and master of the souls of men. The world is also seeking control of our hearts and affection. The two masters, God and mammon, are diametrically opposed to each other. ‘ The one commands you to walk by faith, the other to walk by sight; the one to set your affection on things above, the other to set it on things that are on the earth; the one to look at the things unseen and eternal, the other to look at the things seen and temporal; the one to be content with such things as ye have, the other to enlarge your desires as hell; the one to seek happiness in the Creator, the other to seek happiness in the creature’. Truly, you cannot serve these two contradictory masters. If you love one, you must hate the other. If you hold to and cleave to one, you must despise and leave the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Your spiritual welfare is our concern. For more help write or contact: DEEPER CHRISTIAN LIFE MINISTRY Visit: www.dclm.org Email: infoinfo@deeperlifeonline.org |

The pastor preached about God's value system and the power of integrity. The general belief in the Nigerian society is that any one who is upright cannot succeed and may end up a loser in life. But the pastor emphasised on the need not to follow the world's value system and the wisdom of the world but to try and do things the godly way and not compromise our godly values. Being servants when we are in leadership instead of being overbearing and oppressive. He said the gateway to revelation is integrity. Also, we need to work out our own salvation, but God is constantly at work in us. We need to draw the line and begin to walk according to godly wisdom and not the worldly wisdom and way of doing things. And the two cannot be mixed together, that is, we cannot compromise here and try to be upright there. People will always remember and know us for what we stand for, even after many years. The text was from Philipians 2: 12,13, 1Corinthians 2:1-9 and Psalms 2:10,11. |

ACL: Some of us may not know where to start from; but let me begin by asking you to keep calm for the moment. Whatever the problem, God is ABLE to cause you to rejoice far above your worries. A few pastors who are anointed with insight into the realities of these operations know that they are inexplicable, but real. This is not to say at once that it applies in your situation, or that your generation or family is actually suffering from such. The one thing to note is that such operations of the enemy (where they are actually occuring) have always been broken through the prayer of faith. Your situation is not beyond God - and your joy will be made full. Do not despair. As you trust the Lord Jesus without anxieties, seek help also from some pastor who can understand your problem without playing on words. I want to join in praying along with you. Whatever it is that has robbed you of your joy, we believe God to enrich your life and see you live a fulfilled life! Please let us know how we can help. Many blessings in Jesus' Name. |

Re: What Did You Learn At Church Today? by uf4oma(f): 7:46pm On Oct 14, 2007 |
The pastor preached today about the difference between reading the word and mentally assenting to it and actually knowing the word through revelation which comes from a diligent search. He emphasised that mental assent is one of the major problems in christendom today as more christians are mentally assenting to scriptures and when they do not get results, they give heed to seducing spirits and begin to question their faith. He said if you are in christianity because you want to get results and achieve personal gratification, and not because of the ideals of the faith, you will be frustrated; and all of us come to the faith for one personal reason or the other, but after a while, we need to appreciate the the very core of our beliefs and hold on to them in the face of contradicting circumstances. Preaching the word is one thing but walking the walk and talking the talk is a different matter. The reading was from Luke 24: 13-32. This was when Jesus expounded the scriptures to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus and they did not know they were speaking to Jesus until he broke bread with them. And this is how it is with the scriptures; until the eyes of our understanding is enlightened, we cannot see the light of the gospel. And our eyes can only be opened when we take time to meditate on scriptures and make a diligent search for ourselves. We need to pray the prayer in Ephesians 1:17,18, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ the father of glory may give us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him the eyes of our understanding being enlightened. |

Did any of the preachers this past week, tell you why the son of Abraham was willing to lay his life on the line for his father to slaughter him? While the christian lord and savior and son of god was not, willingly without the dragging of his feet? We all know that he was dragged to his death, according to the Bible. I wonder if a young boy, whose father spoke to about slaughtering him, in his dream, and when his father wanted to carry it out in real life, the boy went willingly, honoring his father, so that the dream can be fulfilled? Compare that to a grown man of 33 years, whose sole purpose was to die for the expediation of sins, yet he could not stand up to that responsibility! It is known among the christians that he already knew that was his job and destiny before he came. Why then the reluctancy? In layman term, why couldnt he lived up to the billing? Remember he prayed to his father to take the cup off his head? I wonder if there is any truth in all of this confusion! |

How can God help when you associate partners with Him! The first thing to do is to shun idols; of all kinds. Have a direct relationship to God alone. When you ask, ask Him. Put all your hopes and needs to HIm, alone. Dont sell yourself short by going through anything. The same way the Aborishas, Onisangos and others of yoruba tribe do. They, too, believe in God, excepct that they associate partnership with God. But Islam shun all form of associations; visual or conceptualised in the heart/mind. That is the religion that one should follow. A path that will definately lead to success, immediately or after the soul is been punished, for whatever it is going to be punished for. |
