The only reason you are talking about togetherness is because you have been looting contract money from the government, You said it b4 that you made 200 million in just one contract, so why wont you be happy instead of supporting a better regionalism or better split countries

and you think you will get contracts in the splinter countries?

think, my friend

texaco1: God bless you bro , i have always said it , the mathematical equations favors gej for the presidential election , definitely the south east and south south will vote for him , the south west this time around will not vote for a northerner against gej , and if a southerner is brought out by the opposition the north will not vote for the southerner knowing fully well that he too will want to spend 8 years , they will rather stick with gej who has 4 years remaining . the south west may vote for apc in the guber but just like you said , yorubas will vote for pdp in the presidential and if the worst happens , pdp will break or split the south western votes . there is no way gej can lose and that is why the major hurdle that his opponents have now is to make sure that he doesnt get the pdp ticket . whoever wins the pdp ticket will become the next Nigerian president

Actually, whoever APC nominates will determine if I will vote for Jonathan.
I dont hate Jonathan. If APC picks Buhari, I have no choice than to vote for Jonathan. Otherwise, GEJ is in big trouble

Now you are beginning to make sense.
That's the point we are making. If you field the wrong person, GEJ will coast to victory again.
Some APC fellow keep thinking "whoever" is fielded will defeat GEJ.
That is the biggest challenge APC have now, their presidential candidate.
The core North will not vote for a Rochas, Amaechi or Fashola no matter their perceived competence.
The SW will hardly vote for a Buhari. Not to mention the MB, SS, SE and Christian North.

Activists Protest Governor Fashola's Presence At Baba Omojola's Burial
Posted: November 15, 2013 - 23:50

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola was greeted with series of embarrassing songs as he arrived home of late political activist, Baba Omojola after the his body arrived home for his lying-in-state at his family's residence in Surulre, Lagos State.

The governor arrived with his convoy unable to go into the premises due to presence of a van that contained speakers blaring comradely songs for the activists at the venue.

The van was used to obstruct movement of vehicles into the residence. Upon his arrival however, aides of the governor who wanted to take their convoy in ordered that the van be removed for the governor, but the activists insisted the governor must alight from own his car and walk into the premises like others did. One activist, Debo Adeniran, who coordinated the van said with sarcarsm, that the governor could call his LASTMA officials to tow the van out of the way.

Upon realizing the seriousness of the activists, Mr. Fashola stepped down from his car and walked into the premises.

But as Mr. Fashola inched towards the house, more activists who had learned of his arrival took the microphone to sing anti-oppressor government song. Some lines in their songs tagged the governor "Ole-ole", translating to the calling the governor a thief.

The activists also substituted imperative words into their chorus, asking Mr. Fashola to leave the event to avoid his further embarrassment.

It was not known whether the governor had intention to stay long enough to address participants, but he left soon as the chants by activists gained more tempo.

Asked why Mr. Fashola had to be rejected at the event, the activists told Saharareporters that the governor was only a hypocrite pretending to be familiar with the late Baba Omojola.

A comrade said: "You won't believe they (government) don't allow Baba into their office whenever he was there on pressing public issues that affect the masse. But now that Baba is dead, Fashola is now here to show fake familiarity"

Another activist said it was now common for politicians to take advantage of the death of Comrades to woo families and relations of the bereaved.

"They did same when Gani Fawehinmi died. They hated him when he was alive because he spoke bitter truth to them and also challenged them to court especially on fake Toronto certificate of Tinubu, but after his death, they began pretending they were best of friends with him and began creating park and programs to deceive the public", a civil society leader who was present during the incidence said.

"That has become their forte. They suppress voices of the masses but whenever a strong activist whose voice gave them nightmare dies, they rejoice by sponsoring his funeral", he added.

The Lagos State Government tarred the Chief Onitana Street where Baba Omojola lived as part of gestures for his funeral. During a brief chat with SaharaTV crew recently, son of Baba Omojola, Akinola Omojola commented that it takes a prominent person to die for Government to repair a road in Nigeria.

It would be recalled that Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa was also booed recently as he strayed into the night of tributes and socials in memory of Late Chief Gani Fawehinmi.

"They are all hypocrites and we will continue to embarrass them if they won't stop insulting us to our face by pretending they were friends with our gone heroes", a protester said.

I never had anything against GEJ. So also many Yorubas.

Yes there are PDP in the southwest. No doubt. Also APC is in the east and Niger-Delta.

My argument is, APC is raining in S-West. Like it or not. Its bitter.

Who in Lagos hate fashola. Only Igbo bigots.

is APC in liquid form?

Another good write up from a talented writer who is obviously wasting away his/her talent in the wrong place. We have seen and read even better articulated analyses from more talented and seasoned writers. However, experience has shown that attainment of leadership position has never been a product of permutation from people who think they know too much. The people who 'know' are those who quietly do their homework and show results while others are busy ranting verbosity.

We are watching this space (the nigerian political space)...

APC is looking to Tambuwal but before he can be accepted, they are trying to give him a "anti-corruption" stance.
He is not salable to the MB, SE, SS and Christian North however.
They are trying hard to eliminate the candidacy of GEJ by all means because it gives them headache.

GEJ has support from Christian North (I can stake a bet on that), MB, SE, SS and split support from the SW which can sway either direction depending on the candidate APC fields. The same can be said of the North.

Now to 2015 its very simple the yoruba pple do not care where the presidency comes from as long as he is a man of intergrity and good will for the nation that is why they are alligning with the North to remove Jonathan. SS and SE on the otherhand are nt looking beyond religion and ethnicity, all bcoz GEJ is a Christian and they hate the born to rule idea of the North, bt his Jonathan capable to lead Nigeria forward? No is the answer, so if a Northern person will lead us forward I will rather vote a Northerner than a christian Jonathan who is incompetent and has no respect for the rule of law. Jonathan wld have had d upperhand if he didn't lose the public on his side bt he is nt performing and his nt respecting the rule of law.

This kind of reasoning is what made Ngige emerge third in Anambra gubernatorial election.
You sit behind a laptop and speak for Nigerians everywhere.
Those on ground are doing their homework while you are doing your e-work. At the end of the day, it's the groundwork that speaks.
APC may win the SW states easily but when it comes to the presidential, SW will go ahead
and vote against the North, again.

The under ground work u claim PDP are doing in the south west maybe of help to GEJ, I am telling you APC does not need such a work in
the north as long as Buhari is well and alive come 2015 a simple three sentences from him will the needful........

OAM4J:

This makes a lot more sense than your initial argument. This is Nigeria politics and some things don't change overnight, but through a long, carefully well thought out plan. Like it or hate it, the North seems to be ahead of The South in planning and executing well thought out strategy. Reason I laugh when people think the Northerners are illiterates and unwise.

GEJ made a lot of miscalculations, he narrowed his base and support to the East of the Niger and trusted only lightweights from other parts of the country. He cannot also play the North Vs South card, because while breaking away from Obasanjo, he also burnt the bridge to South West. If only he had maintained the alliance he had with Tinubu pre-2011 while breaking away from OBJ, before Buhari/North made an alliance with Tinibu, then it would have been easier for him to play that card.

A day they say its too long in politics, so anything can still happen and change in Nigeria political equation before 2015. But if the present status quo remains till 2015, then GEJ should forget the Presidency. There is only one card he has left to play as rightly put in the article, "If I cant have it, I will break the whole damn thing", Even that wont be easy but that it is easier for him to achieve that than win presidency in 2015.

Pray say, how did he burn his bridge with to the SW?

As for 2015, I see him winning though as Nigeria national elections are not conducted in cyberspace. All he need is massive assault on the airwave shortly before the election and of course the quality of the opposition candidate!

Ngwakwe: You are the type that still believe Mongo Park discovered River Niger as if Africans and our fore fathers have not been drinking its waters and using boats in transportation and navigation across the river before Mongo Parks ancestors were born.

Jonathan has been pressured into entering so many suicidal traps many a times in order to lose support of his political base by so called sophisticated gladiators knowing fully well that every Politics is local. The failure to disarm him and create an anti Old Eastern Region picture is causing temporary insanity to Born to rule alliance.

The much shout and perception of corruption are heavily lopsided to steer up ethnic tensions and comparison of touchables and untouchables thereby making GEJ look pariah without base knowing fully well that all these complaints are mostly from people who didn't and will never vote him in any future election.

In a bid for Core Northern alliance to perfect their political strategy to get into power have decided to saturate the atmosphere with petty and ridiculous lies while relying on ethnic and racial hatred arising from false accusations of GEJ reluctance to act (knowing fully well the traps will kill his re-election) as a tool for political dominance in 2015 Presidential Election having failed in stopping him from contesting as incumbent.

The chess board is the country Nigeria whilst the players are the gangs (Politicians and the Elites who are invariably lusting for power to achieve selfish goals or regional goals at most)..

GEJ, have not even started talking about 2015. Until he do than, we shall know where the North and APC stands. For now, the North and APC are the ones doing the media talk and propagandas. Wait, when Mr. president show up! by 2015. Before you confirm, who's a heavyweight.

Sincere 9gerian:
The fight between Amaechi and GEJ was not because of the state of East-west road, epileptic power supply or sharing formula. GEJ appointed into his cabinet all those nominated to him by Amaechi. So what was the fight about? The fight is/was about 2015. Both parties have taken irreconcilable positions and nothing can appease either party except the ultimate trophy, which is victory in the 2015 elections.

My post is not even about Amaechi but the people of Rivers. It is a battle for hearts and minds of the Rivers People.

Rivers contributes substantially to the National Budget and should benefit substantially from the National Budget. GEJ government presence should be seen by the people of the state, so far nothing and that cannot be right.

There is still time with the 2014 budget. If GEJ works, who is Rotimi Amaechi? Rotimii is selling a propaganda that GEJ is anti rivers and APC is the solution. That is why am saying...

Nigerians take note. Another terror group will suffice but Jonathan will crush them till 2019

Gej have not been able to crush boko haram that have become more sophisticated and even better armed than the Niger delta militants combined; the militant were getting weapons in exchange for oil rather boko haram are getting better weapons mostly free from islamic countries including fighters; so how is gej going to stay till 2019 if he is not detribalized? People should stop deceiving him & themselves about gej staying till 2019 if he doesn't accommodate every tribe in Nigeria, that's the main problem gej has & I have said it time without number even on this Nairaland forum.

very interesting and apt write-up. There are still a lot of extremely intelligent Nigerians out there who can look beyond the facade and see what's really happening behind-the-scenes. GEJ boxed himself to a corner by surrounding himself with sycophants and noisy people across the East of the Niger River who think settling the whatever scores they have to settle with the Nigerian establishment can be done at once - despite ostracising the rest of the Southern power-block and the Nigerian people. The Americans also played a blinder in this one - REALPOLITIK. Western countries love the Northerners and they prefer them lording over the rest of Nigeria. I believe Northerners are better serfs to lord over in the scheme of things.

This is a classic example of no-way-out and I expect the North to start dissecting and decimating GEJ soon. The guy is basically finished. Dead and buried. And once the North gets back in power (which is most likely going to happen) - the South is the finished. R.I.P GEJ! Just break the darn country and redeem yourself before it's too late.

PS: eGuerrilla, when I grow up, I definitely want to be like you, Sir. cool

You are right only that the people actually playing the tribal and religious card is the North. It has been that way since inception of Nigeria.

GEJ has never at any time played that card. Get that straight.
He has done more for the North than in his own state.
You need to know also that the North is not about performance, the South West can claim to be and have a strong argument but not the North.

Do you live in the north? Probably not. Not all you see on paper is true. Is north the only part of the country that he needs to appease, NO. are state projects now federal projects? If akpabio is performing does it mean is jonathan, NO. I disagree with the stmt that he has done more for the North than other parts of the country. But if u hv proof of his performance in the north pls list them I would be happy to check out projects in katsina, kano, kaduna, sokoto, zamfara and kebbi

GEJ better get to work very fast cos he has failed to date otherwise many of us will not vote him again even if he is from our village. We have not yet seen the difference btw his govt and that of the northerners in terms of projects here. He cannot cross his legs and take votes here for granted like e-warriors do here!
