We muslims totally denounce the barbaric and gruesome murder of the female teacher by irate Muslim pupils on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at a secondary school in Gandu, Gombe state. The Vice Principal of the school, Hajiya Hadiza Gombe, in media reports was quoted to have said the teacher, who was employed on contract was assigned to invigilate the SS1 pupils who were writing their Islamic Religious Knowledge exams. She added that the teacher suspected that a foul play was about to take place when one of the students wanted to come in with his books to the exam hall. Hajiya Gombe said when the teacher collected the books and threw them outside, unknown to her, there was a copy of the Holy Qur’an among the books. The students were reported to have attacked the teacher outside the school compound after the exam and killed her. The school principal, Mr. Mohammed Sadiq, who tried to protect the teacher in his office was also terribly beaten and injured while they set the teacher's car, three classes, the school's clinic, administrative block and library on fire.

Those misguided youths violated the sanctity of human life that God made sacred in their twisted ideas that they were 'defending' the Holy Qur’an. Rather, their actions endanger and offend the basic principles of Islam, which are mercy, justice, freedom, forgiveness and human dignity. The Qur'an, the most fundamental scripture of Islam which these vicious youths claim to be defending, teaches sanctity of life, not violence. It enjoins peace, justice, and compassion as basic tenets for all of humankind and condemns violence and aggression in all forms. Even if a genuine crime was committed, 'vigilante-type justice' is not acceptable form of justice in Islam. Instead of offering to kill for the Qur’an, would it not have been better for the youth to declare that they would live by following these Qur’anic principles? This is what Islam teaches. This ugly incident is another sad example that what Islam teaches and what some Muslims do are, sadly, often very different.

It was wrong and Allah (SWT) says in Surah 16; 90 of the glorious Qur'an: "Allah commands justice, the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice and rebellion: He instructs you, that ye may receive admonition." Then we should have no difficulty in being examples for others to follow as it was demonstrated in the actions of the school principal, Mr. Mohammed Sadiq, who risked his own life to try to protect the teacher’s. This reprehensible attack, like many others, definitely crossed a threshold in the insanity that pervades daily life in Nigeria . As the Qur’an clearly further states, "If anyone slays a human being, it shall be as though he had slain all mankind" (Surah 5:32 ). It is in the light of these magnificent words that i call on Muslim youth to reject extremist ideologies and seek to cultivate a culture of love, tolerance and coexistence for the advancement of all people as taught by Islam.

This terrible crime illustrates once again the depth of misunderstanding and confusion that has darkened those who claim to belong to Islam. Regardless of the history of deep sectarian strife in certain places or cultures, there is no escaping the fact that the mentality that can lead to the level of fanaticism and violence demonstrated by the irate youths is taught, not inherent to Islam.

COCIN said, “Three vehicles have been intercepted, loaded with warriors and weapons entering the conflict areas… This has resulted in many deaths and widespread destruction.” The attacks have left more than 100 dead and 5,000 refugees. In a union meeting, Lar was asked to pray about the problems of the institution. In the prayer he asked for God’s wrath on those who denied Christians basic religious rights. Abdullahi Mahdi, the vice chancellor of the university ordered the arrest of Lar. Lar was released after the university workers went on strike on his behalf.

bullet June 2001 – Fifteen churches and 14 pastor’s residences were burned down in Gawaram, Jigawa state. No one was hurt in the fires, but the pastors and their families are now homeless. A similar attack on 11 churches occurred earlier in the year in the Hajaya governate. Jigawa state is one of many northern Nigerian states that has implemented Sharia law.

February 24-25, 2001 – A visit to Gombe state by an Israeli ambassador sparked a riot by Muslim youths. During the riot at least 4 people were killed, 50 were injured, and two churches were damaged. The Calvary Baptist Church and the Bishara Baptist Church were both robbed and pews from the latter church were ripped out and burned.

November 2000 – Christians showing the Jesus Film in Kebbi state were warned not to continue showing the film. Kebbi also plans to adopt Sharia law on December 1, 2000.

September 7-9, 2000 – In Bambam, Gombe state 25 people died as a result of clashes between Muslims and Christians due to the possible implementation of Sharia. Property damage was estimated in the millions of dollars.

July 10, 2000 – In Sokoto state an 80-year-old Christian woman was sentenced to six months imprisonment for brewing an alcoholic beverage. Drinking and selling alcohol is contrary to the state’s Sharia law.

June 21, 2000 – Kano state adopted Sharia law. Sharia will officially be implemented on November 26, the first day of Ramadan.

June 2000 – Mrs. Laraba John, a widow, was the first Christian to receive punishment under Sharia law in Niger state. Mrs. Johns was sentenced to 3 months in prison for brewing a local alcoholic beverage. Though she has seven children and no husband, the court refused to grant leniency.

May 2000 – Christian women in Zamfara state say they were harassed and wrongfully accused of prostitution.

May 29, 2000 – Sokoto state declared Sharia law.

May 25, 2000 – Several days of violence in Kaduna have led to the death of at least 150 people. Homes, shops and churches have also been destroyed.

May 22, 2000 – Muslim youths torched the First Baptist Church and Christian homes in Kaduna, leading to retaliation by Christian youths. At least 11 people died and many others were injured in the incident.

December 18-19, 1999 – Islamic extremists vandalized or destroyed 18 churches in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State in north-central Nigeria. Christian leaders have threatened to retaliate if the state government does not stop the violence.

Like i always maintain, the "Islam does not support extremism and terrorism" rhetoric is like a handshake that has gone beyond the elbow. There is no more patience to hear so called "moderates" mouth the same excuse every time we have to mourn yet another senseless killing in the name of "god". We want concrete action!

I am tired of you. I have told myself never to indulge in any debate that lacks proof or evidence. It happend that Amr Ibn Rabe'a during prophet' s time, heard that a man hid the shoes of another man just to tease and annoy him. The Prophet being told of this incident said to Muslims:

The other version of the same incident is narrated as follows:

"It is unlawful for a Muslim to scare a fellow Muslim"

The same incident Tabarani as follows:

"The Prophet said, 'he who gives a frightening look to a Muslim, without a lawful reason, God shall scare him on the Day of Judgment.

Another version says:

"The prophet said: He who points at his fellow muslim with a piece of Iron, the Angels curse him as long as he holds that Iron - even if he does it to his immediate brother.

Also Quran 5 v 32; , On that account, we ordained for the children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole of mankind, and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.

Quran 5 v 2: Help one another in what is good and pious, not in what is wicked and sinful. Have fear of Allah, for He is stern in retribution.

Quran 49 v 12 - 12: believers, let no man mock another man, who may perhaps be better than himself. Let no woman mock another woman, who may perhaps be better than herself. King, he was not acting on the teachings of christainity and that is the reason why he was reported by his followership. Being civilised law abiding citizens not taking law into their hands he was handed to the appropriate authorities and the law has taking its course he has been sentenced accordingly.

When any christain does anything wrong we are not apologist we condem in strong terms and ensure accountability and adequate punishement is given, please note it was his members that reported him.

Most muslims in the world are law abiding but these xtian guys only want to see us by the action of the very few bad ones while they (xtians) are the chief terrorists. for example I clicked on this link because of  the title and what do I see? We can't even hold a peaceful disscussion without being Bombarded.

Yes, most are peace loving until they decide to be like Muhammad and live like he lived.
Christians who decide to be Christ like become like him,a man of peace but Muslims who want to follow the footsteps of Muhammad turn into oppressors of women and become intolerant of others and would kill with no remorse like he did.

You like to pride yourselves that there are 1.5 billion Muslims.
If just 20% are violent,of course most are "peaceful" but do the math.
What is 20% of 1.5 billion?
What do you call peaceful when your sharia says you kill apostates of Islam,women who are "found guilty" of adultery by a group of women haters and "desecrators" of the manual of hate/ tales by moonlight called a Koran?
That alone makes Islam evil no matter what you say.

Now have you sat to ask yourself  this very simple question.

How come Jesus asked his followers to buy a physical sword,they did not heed that command instead the Muslims not only bought swords but use it to snap the necks of their neighbours?

+Osisi, if what you just said about the followers of Jesus is true, they are either disbelievers in the messengership of Jesus, while he was with them. They must have been bunch of hypocrites! Lack sincerity! If the followers did not believe, then you must have been taking the story from the mouth of these disbelievers to mean something. The book they produced as eye witnesses must be filled with lies and deceits and fallacies. No wonder Qur'an says that it is corrupted. It is from corrupt people! No wonder the larger body of Jewry did not follow nor believe Jesus.

Now if the followers obeyed him, then you have embelished to the point that you bent the rule of truth. I do not want to say that you are telling bold face lies. I do not want any woman to be angry at me! Either way, Mrs., there is a bit of a whale of a whopper here. I think the overwhelming power of the Mob that came for Jesus was just the reason the Sword purchased did not amount to anything. If the 12  apostles, less Iscariot had put up any struggle, they would have crushed like flies!
