becomrich,:

Which level you enter. they can replace jonathan. they replace Ernest Shonekan.  This is why to avoid war, remove the yorubas, edo, delta and bayelsa into benin republic , so that we all have peace and they can ask Jonathan to resign.

You yarning dust as usual. Which war? With what? Foreign reserves? My friend allow another delusion to sieze you.

you must be dreaming, if they remove jonathan. They would still take the oil.

to avoid trouble remove the yorubas, edo, delta into benin republic while return the part of bayelsa state that is really in delta state.

They can't try that with Johnathan.
You don't understand the level we don enter now.
If belle pain Johnathan, these people are in trouble.
If headache catch Johnathan these people are in trouble.
This matter na heavy 'okpetu' for them.

If president is incapacitated VP must rule, that nah the constitution.

Old boy, you don't seem to understand the full import of the moment. In the article, one Urantah was speaking about seceeding if Jonathan was not allowed. That kind talk wouldn't move a fly. I hope that there's better and enough behind the scene manouver to counter the diabolical northern plan. These moves should include, but not limited to consulting and aligning with other groups in the south, issuing joint statements, and making representatives of the area to make public statements.

In a saner political environment, the president would have at least taken time off and properly handed over power. God forbid, but imagine there was some kind of disaster; who would be there to declare a state of emergency, visit the affected and take minute by minute decisions?? shocked
The country has been left rudderless and in danger by the inordinate political ambitions of a greedy cabal.

Vice President Goodluck Jonathan
Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday described as ``falsehood and mischievous’’ a newspaper report that he was under pressure to resign as a fallout from President Umaru Yar’adua’s health.

The Vice President said that the report published by a national newspaper on Saturday was designed to create unnecessary panic and tension in the country.

The newspaper had reported that ``the plan of those pressuring the VP is to create a situation where he would resign for the Senate President David Mark to take over for three months and then organise elections in the event that the President is unable to complete his term.’’

A press statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant, Media and Communication to the Vice-President, Mr Ima Niboro, urged Nigerians to discountenance the report.

``We have read with considerable dismay, the story, published today, Nov. 28 and wish to point out straightaway that it is false in its entirety.

``This story, we must add, is sheer mischief and dwells entirely in the imagination of its authors, their sponsors and co-travellers. Vice-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is not under any pressure to resign.

``This is wild and quite insulting claim requires no elaboration. Certainly, the general public can discountenance such drivel. As the Vice-President noted yesterday (Friday) and was widely reported in the media, the president is okay, and there is no cause for alarm,’’ the statement stressed. (NAN)

”They are saying that it is the only way to preserve the peace and unity of the country. The North would not accept a Southern President so soon after former President Olusegun Obasanjo and that the powerful elements in the region believe that the former President set up the North. They believe that Obasanjo knew that Yar‘Adua was too ill to complete his term, so he foisted him on the region so that power would return to the South.”

which peace and which unity? is it to be a tribal question whos running for the next president?? by the way where are the programs of those that want to rule? kindergarten!!

So the reason Jonathan should be treated fairly with respect is not because the constitution requires so but because there is oil in Jonathan's backyard. Sometimes when you hear this sought of comment you dont feel sorry for Jonathan and get tempted to smile so that the Ijaws get a bitter peel of some of the injustices they helped sow in Nigeria.

Look what will see Jonathan triumph is not a threat to oil sharing, nor MEND nor any threat from Ijaw National Congress. All you need to do is ask for the constitution to be respected and it should not matter where Jonathan comes from or what language he speaks or what God he worships. THE CONSTITUTION SHOULD JUST BE RESPECTED IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO YAR'ADUA.

Sapeleguy,

The issue in contention is can practice supersede theory, for all intents and purposes by strict definition if the current President is indisposed, confirmed and substantiated as being permanent or indeed deemed incapable, the President is Jonathan Goodluck (JC). Mikeaneasy the constitution has never been respected just manipulated and in some cases sidestepped alltogether.

I agree that JC “no get Liver “and he will not bring anything new in terms of visionary leadership.

However, that’s not the issue Turai and co. can fight and postulate, manipulate all they like, JC will be president.

The one aspect that no one has considered in depth is the backing that JC will get, the whole south, south will rise in one politically united voice, dare I even add the east and west against the attempted injustice, by one region against the whole nation.

The militancy issue brings a whole new dimension, if you think that what the militants did was shocking in the last few years, this time it will be ballistic even the north is not prepared for that.
When even the coward stands on the back of a lion he becomes bold with courage. Finally, JC go find Liver and heart by force.

'Can practice supercede theory' a very apt question whose significance will be lost on some.
They say 'fools rush in where angels fear to tread'. On that basis, Jonathan is giving them enough rope, I don't necessarilly subscribe to his characterisation as a coward, when his country home was bombed 2 years ago he conducted himself with remarkable dignity. But I digress.

Yaradua has committed enough transgressions to warrant at least one impeachment attempt, if the national assembly were doing their job properly.

Anytime the president leaves the country or is incapacitated he should alert Mark and Bankole with a view to handing power to Johnathan. In two and a half years that has not happened once.

Now the truth of the matter is that David Mark & Dimeji Bankole should have prevailed on Yaradua to do things properly or face the consequences. They haven't.

Power sharing is a fraud. Obasanjo is from the West And don't put that South crap on Nigerians. Even though I totally disagree with this power sharing stuff as it shows how much we are not united in Nigeria. But west, east, south, North, mid west all have to have their turn. When the North were ruling from Babaginda to Abacha no one was talking of power sharing. Bring Nigeria to an end please. Why didn't they the northerners vote for someone else not Yaradua? The election was rigged? why didn't they protest against it? oh military? you guys control the fuking military, constitution? You won't need a military involvement if you followed constitution in the first place.

If Yaradua dies, Jonathan will end his term simple why is power so important to them? Northerners are playing a deadly game here and it will end the nation if this topic is true.

The law of the jungle reigns in Nigeria, over here you rise to the top based on brawn, not brains.  If oil is Jonathans brawn, it is some brawn indeed!
Until we rewrite our constituition, we will continue to be held back, because we must factor out our "leaders" brains and factor in their brawn.

Until we rewrite our constituition, we will continue to wallow in the political and human quagmire of the unitary system IBB first introduced; as military "president" with civilian governors (or administrators).
Fixing the constituition should be our ultimate target. If accountabilty was properly and unambiguously enshrined in the constituition, we wouldn't even be having this argument about Jonathan Goodluck. . . Because he wouldn't have been our VP (and neither would Yar Adua have been president).
Re: Dr. Goodluck Jonathan Comes Under Pressure To Resign by becomrich15: 3:22am On Nov 30, 2009
That is what should happen, but would not happen.

You see, sometime you people underate the north. They ask mad to give them ipo, you people went to give out the ipo. Now jonathan is in abuja with 22 army barrack surround him. una no get ipo again. how will you help jonathan.?

How many times do you want me to say it: the benefitiaries of the current 'constitution' will never allow it to be changed. There was a newspaper report yesterday about how the president would rather amend some parts of the document than review it as is being agitated.
Re: Dr. Goodluck Jonathan Comes Under Pressure To Resign by No2Atheism(m): 4:00am On Nov 30, 2009
Do people sincerely think that the Northerners would willfully allow the constitution to be amended in a way that would take away their priviledges . . .you better think again.

Northerners are shouting about Constitution now because they realise Jonathan has to be the President in other to follow the consitution . . .

I thought this was a joke until i red a clue of it on BBC.
What an irony in a country like Nigeria. Instead of putting pressure on our sick and lame president to resign, we are putting pressure on the healthy vice to resign.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/8380520.stm
Analysts say his continued ill-health poses a problem for Nigeria's constitution.

If he were to step down or die, he would be replaced by Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan, who is from the country's southern Niger Delta region.

But according to the ruling People's Democratic Party's own formula for sharing power among the country's regions, the president must be a northerner.

So with the  above statement beign true. Some animals( That God will soon kill), we have as so called king makers, who decides the future of 150million population believe that even if it is a cow from the North must  be the president, despite we have a messiah from south, east, or west. Wonders shall never end.

I wonder, the northern guys thinks the south is still under them. They'll wake up one day and discover that the country
has been divided into 4. cool

If they try what they are thinking or nursing,, We the niger delta will make the country unhabitable for them.

There are so much manoeuvrings going on behind the scene. The South-South shouldn't just stop at issuing statements and threats. Now is the time to engage some of their respected people to reach out to other segments of the Nigerian federation and start serious rapprochement. The establishment in the North probably knows that Yar'Adua's days are numbered (I don't mean it in terms of death, but the strength to carry on ruling) and are jostling for power.

I guess a compromise might be reach in which they agree to let Jonathan finish Yar'Adua's term, should he throw in the towel, in exchange for the South allowing them a fresh start to 8 years reign from 2011.

Thank you very much. You know, the day Nigeria will start moving forward is the day everyone in the south and middle belt quit being the FOOLS that they are.Till tomorrow, i still don't get how some normads in the north with little or meaningless resources both financially, economically (and otherwise) can dictate the future of the country. We have the smartest brains in the land yet we allow some cattle rearers to push us left and right all because we refuse to agree with ourselves and would rather have the northerners lord it over us than unite.ALL OF US IN THE SOUTH AND MIDDLE EAST ARE THE WORST POLITCAL FOOLS EVER! ! !

It was because of this rubbish Ojukwu headed the Biafran war.He saw ahead of time what was in store for the south.Unfortunately, the rest of the southerners are beginning to wake up from their slumber and see more "clearly".All the rubbish the Niger Delta boys did is still the same thing Ojukwu was fighting for (although with more finese). The same useless militants parents betrayed Ojukwu and their kids today have been brain washed to believe Ojukwu was a traitor.

Human beings are pathetic. This is a man who gave all that he had to liberate his people. He lost most of his inheritance plus personal belongings.I'm not sure if the federal govt has returned half of his seized properties back to him.HOW MANY OF YOU COWARDS CAN SACRIFICE WHAT YOU HAVE FOR THIS JOKE OF A COUNTRY? USELESS BRAIN WASHED COWARDS! ! !

Keep fighting yourselves over senseless tribalism and let the north keep lording it and calling the shots. The reason the north holds sway is because the south is dis-united.Yeye people.

Rubbish!
