agaugust:Flying at a altitude of 12km to target a stealth warship? Which has more than 50 decoys and other advanced EW kit?. Without any modern targeting pod like the lighting pod in SAAF's Gripens. Your F7 jet is a complete joke for a country like Nigeria to fly it as its main air superiority fighter. |

agaugust:Your analogy is childish. The hungry giant here doesn't have hands to fight two fast moving dwarfs. NO animal can fight with an empty stomach. |

Fighter Pilot: You people have been singing this same song for years now. Forgetting that industrialisation happens gradually. We said we were building drones, you said the same thing. Now what happened? We launched a drone and more are to be buillt. We said we are building an APC(igirigi), you sang the same song. What happened? We launched it and now it has been confirmed that proforce and DICON are mass producing. We have produced warships and building a stealth warship (only country in Africa) etc... Keep singing the "Nigeria is not industrialized" song while our industries gradually grow to over take yours the same way you argued that our economy will never be number one. Mumu soldier. 1 Like |

agaugust:Actually you're wrong let state more what South Africa defence industry can do and Nigeria's enable to do 1. Missiles 2. UAV 3. UCAV 4. Smart bombs 5. MRAPS 6. Maintains 7. Repair: DCD marine facility in Cape town is the largest ship repair yard in Africa 8.Advanced 155mm and 105mm howitzer shells 9. Mine detecting vehicles 10. Overhaul aircraft maintains and development.............Transferred technology doesn't mean your industry is advanced. You can't develop systems on your own, which would mean you're advanced................Spy equipment? Nigeria has no single Electronic warfare or electronic intelligence dedicated aircraft developed or fitted in Nigeria. South Africa companies install EW kits for the most advanced air forces in the world.......................South Africa imports because it would be costly to develop new systems like fighter jets from nothing. To show we are capable any weapon foreign system is fitted with South African made weapons, avionics and EW kits from the valour frigates to the Gripen multi-role fighter jets. I can't say the Badger cause it will be built in SA.........Development takes time and is costly but if needed South Africa has shown that it can develop anything from fighters to tanks. We can't say the same with Nigeria. |

Fighter Pilot: Nobody goes about harassing gays and lesbians publicly in nigeria as is the case in south-africa. We (99% of us) can bear the sight of a man kissing another man. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 1:26pm On Jan 04, 2014 |
agaugust:A corvette vessel is small and doesn't carry game charging weapons. Changing your Chinese radar is only normal cause China too relies on Europe for warship parts like engines and radar. And firing the Otomat missile will or never will guarantee a hit on the valour frigate cause it has many layers of protection from: stealth,EW jammers, modern radar, decoys, helicopter, modern SAM systems up to 16 or 32 umkhonto on each Frigate plus a close in weapon system which can put a wall of shells in front of any missile if detected and shred it into pieces..........................Besides a single old vessel can't or will never try to fight a modern stealth frigate escorted by a evasive diesel submarine. |

Henry120: The government of SA does not support harrassment of gay people and has even allowed for their marriages. In Nigeria, the government even harasses them and the worst of it all in Northern Nigeria they are being stoned to death. |

agaugust:Nigeria has no ELINT or EW plane. The ATR-42MP which it operates is a maritime surveillance or patrol aircraft. NO MINI AWAC!!!! EW kit doesn't mean it is a EW or ELINT plane. That equipment is for surveillance and patrol,it can't kind be used to guide your fighters during a dog fight. South Africa has the two EW and ELINT air systems (helicopters and plane) Here's perfect description of that plane. .en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATR_42 Now here's the profile of Nigeria's air force no mention of a EW or ELINT plane here.en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigerian_Air_Force South Africa has this capability---»en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_African_Air_Force. Besides project saucepan is on,new maritime patrol planes will be bought. |

agaugust:If needed SA engineers will man new weapons. They did so during the late phase of the boarder war in 88-89 with Ratel ZT3,when most soldiers never fired the Ingwe missile. South African companies are currently doing a lot of mine clearing in countries like Angola and the DRC. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 2:02pm On Jan 04, 2014 |
agaugust:Weapons that were manufactured or designed during the Bush war weren't designed for sells but better performance. The Rooivalk gave birth to South Africa's aviation industry,SA manufactures many parts for planes across the world including the A400M and Typhoon fighter jet................How many MRAPS and Mine detecting vehicles were exported to western nations?..........To sell weapons like helicopters a country needs a political and military muscle, where competition is high. Nigeria is yet to develop an aviation industry. |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 2:17pm On Jan 04, 2014 |
chris365:The are a lot of reason why Nigeria doesn't export from producing weapons under license to producing weapons that are inferior to others in their class example being MRAPs. Producing is not important large or small, what's important is development of new systems and further developing old systems. 1. New designs 2. Quality 3.Politics 4.Fully Indigenous systems: This is the reason why South Africa has never managed to sell the Rooivalk. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 2:25pm On Jan 04, 2014 |
chris365:Purchasing weapons can be difficult during a war between powerful regional powers like Nigeria and South Africa. Defence industries will have to play a huge role in stuff like upgrading and maintains. A war of that scale would mean world powers will take sides like during the Biafran war. To stop both countries from fighting weapon sanctions can be applied starving both nations. This is where superior SA defence industry will became a game changer. South Africa can have proper fighting MBT between 3 to 7 years, well Nigeria........................... |

Even though i might not agree with gayism, this is too horrific, worse the useless & illiterate Nigerian police are doing nothing. Nigerians truly hate gays even though they like viewing them online. . so the guy who claimed nigerians don't harass gays and 99% don't want to see men kissing is lying, because nigerian are the top gay porn viewers online. 2 'Gay Men' Beaten To DEATH While Police Watched In Nigeria (Watch GRAPHIC Video) |

these south Africans on this thread are really myopic and funny. what is a society that claims to accept gay rights but hunts them down like animals. yet want to put themselves on par with western countries that forced it down their throats. pure hypocrites. at least we don't hide the fact that we hate the act. |

Mike..ZA: Please go a few pages back and look for the entry. The hump you see towards the rear (between the wings) is the ELINT addition. This was done towards the end of last year in Scotland. Stop arguing just for the sake of it. We don't have to tell you, we can let you fester in ignorance to boost your morale. 1 Like |

ZDee: Lots of people view porn on line, doesn't mean they want homosexuality/lesbianism as the norm. So I suppose the high number of r*pe/s*xual assault cases in South Africa is a consequence of SAs viewing porn online. The act is not natural, and won't be accepted in Nigeria, simple. Now back to military matters as this thread is not a gay counselling forum. |
