NDI IGBO SI NA "AKWURU OTO IKE ABURU OTU MANA ETUKWURU ANA IKE EKEWAA" MEANING---WHEN WE STAND UP, OUR BUTTOCK SEEMS TO BE SINGLE BUT WHEN WE SQUAT, IT DIVIDES. IN EXPLANATION, SOME DO ACT UNDER THE TUTTLEGE OF PEOPLE OR GANG, BUT THEY CAN'T ACT ALONE. I.E NOT MAN ALONE. |

Ngiga = Metal basket Evidently the English do not have a single word for that because they do not store their fish over the fireplace in the kitchen ![]() whatever you want to hear? |
Re: Igbos come show your proverbs skills by youngies(m): 12:47pm On Oct 29, 2007 |
Ify, I think echelon is correct in his translation of "ngiga". My only addition is that it is not always the best thing for another to continue to transtale proverbs for the other, because, ndi Igbo si na onye aturu ilu ma kowara ya, mara na ego ejiri luta nne ya nara n'iyi. Anybody that is fond of waiting for the explanation of a proverbs said to him/her, might as well know that the bride price of his/her mother is a waste. ![]() ![]() |
