Your domain by domain concept is great @all On the translation of Table, I've contacted some elders in the village, they told me that in the olden days that "oku" was used in serving food and people sat on the floor and kept their food on the floor and that there was no need for the table. In effect "table" was non-existent. During meetings, people sat on chairs (so we got name for chairs). I also contacted some Igbo teachers they went for "tebulu" collaborating the elders' story. I am not givng up yet on this table translation. If no other dialect of ndi Igbo has a word for it, I'm very sure that Abakaliki or Afikpo people will have a word it. There is certainly nothing that they don't have a word for even "internet" |
