I had the title of A.E Houseman's poem, 'Is My Team Ploughing?', in mind when I clicked on this priceless thread. Now, l have no doubt because, yeah, my team is ploughing, as always. It's a pity that I now have to squeeze real hard for the minutest drop of time. Keep the thread kicking, my good people. |

Academician & Academic, in this, is there any Similarity/combination of British and Us English. |
Re: ABC Of Common Errors And Mistakes In English by olaolabiy: 6:23pm On Feb 04, 2011 |
Syed2011: In North America, 'academician' (contextual) also means 'academic'. It is acceptable in North America. And, as usual, the US will soon lord it over other countries. LOL. |

POSER. "The bolded words were uttered by Goodluck Jonathan". Is this statement correct? Or not? Is 'bolded' a word? Help, please. |
Re: ABC Of Common Errors And Mistakes In English by Odunnu: 5:43pm On Feb 07, 2011 |
Hmm, i'm guilty of using bolded, I guess it should be boldened. Is it? |
Re: ABC Of Common Errors And Mistakes In English by olaolabiy: 7:41pm On Feb 07, 2011 |
Odunnu: Omoge to fine. How are you? 'Bold' is not a verb. It is an adjective. Also a noun. And its 'verb' form cannot be achieved just by means of derivative. I think 'embolden' is the only form that can be used. Past tense: 'emboldened'. Thank you. |
Re: ABC Of Common Errors And Mistakes In English by olaolabiy: 7:54pm On Feb 07, 2011 |
Odunnu: And, I actually used 'bolded' on this forum some hours ago before I 'retraced my steps'. |
