I had the title of A.E Houseman's poem, 'Is My Team Ploughing?', in mind when I clicked on this priceless thread. Now, l have no doubt because, yeah, my team is ploughing, as always. It's a pity that I now have to squeeze real hard for the minutest drop of time. Keep the thread kicking, my good people.

Corps.

Its the second one methinks. You wouldn't naturally use the present perfect tense in the sentence "I have understand the rules of Nairaland" as such, as generally as it is grammatically wrong, so why is it okay to latch it on as a present tense?

Usually in a present perfect tense, the main verb following the auxilliary verb should be in past participle innit Examples include "we have arrived". Hmmm, if this is the case then why is "we have come" correct too, and not we have "came" undecided

Brilliant! Thanks, Ma. Moi BB.

Academician & Academic, in this,  is there any Similarity/combination of British and Us English.

In North America, 'academician' (contextual) also means 'academic'. It is acceptable in North America.

And, as usual, the US will soon lord it over other countries. LOL. cheesy

POSER.
"The bolded words were uttered by Goodluck Jonathan".

Is this statement correct? Or not?

Is 'bolded' a word?

Help, please.
Re: ABC Of Common Errors And Mistakes In English by Odunnu: 5:43pm On Feb 07, 2011
Hmm, i'm guilty of using bolded, I guess it should be boldened. Is it?

Odunnu:

Omoge to fine. How are you?

'Bold' is not a verb. It is an adjective. Also a noun. And its 'verb' form cannot be achieved just by means of derivative.

I think 'embolden' is the only form that can be used.

Past tense: 'emboldened'.

Thank you.
