Re: Android, Anyone? by DoubleN(m): 4:44pm On Apr 19, 2011 |
na2day!:Not a bad idea at all but since we have a thread like this running where we can always input whatever knowledge there is available,it would just be an overkill. There is already a vast resource of Andriod forums for all and sundry on the Web (Not to talk of Manufacturer and model specific forums as well!) shenny:AS for this, it all boils down to how you use your phone and your default user settings. Please get Rid of the 'Advanced Task Killer', it really makes no sense. There are some apps that run in a persistent mode which always relaunch once they are killed, this adds significant overhead to your battery. Instead get a Battery Optimizer like Juice Defender (I use it Personally). Turn off settings such as 'GPS Satellites' when not in use, also set your Screen Brightness level at 'Auto' or turn it down as low as possible. Social Networking Apps such as facebook and co are also a major culprit, reducing the frequency at which they update will save you some power also (This also applies to apps which update frequently). Anywhere from 4hours to Manually Updating is ok. Try these steps and see if you experience any significant improvement. |

Double N: My point exactly. Anyway, happy to bury the hatchet. @Na2day you see why I kept saying that Nokia made the best move to switch to WP7? In the past few months we've had the Nexus S, Thunderbold, Optimus 2x, Atrix 4G and at least 4 more i can't remember. We have the HTC sensation on the way and the Galaxy S II on the horizon. New Droid models coming out too. At the end of the day, this competition for sales would have been too much for Nokia right now. |

Go to your Mobile Network settings and input this settings. APN: web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net USERNAME: web PASSWORD: web N.B Make sure the Data Enabled(Enable access over mobile networks) box is marked and that you also select the access point you just created. |
Re: Android, Anyone? by greatgeo(m): 3:53pm On Apr 22, 2011 |
@Double n is there any use of ip and port no cos i cant connect 2 d internet under d mobile network. |
Re: Android, Anyone? by DoubleN(m): 4:14pm On Apr 22, 2011 |
There is no use of IP or Port fowarding, all you need is to create the access point and make sure data is enabled over mobile networks. Do you have an active subscription? |
Re: Android, Anyone? by bily(m): 6:48am On Apr 24, 2011 |
texazzpete:i do not quite agree with u tex, its just unfortunate that wp7 is not selling as fast as android, but i can tell u if wp7 had been an instant success hit, we will have the same kind of competition we see on android right now. remember almost of not all manufacturers on android also manufacture wp7 fones. but i definately concede to the fact that current partnership with ms gives nokia an edge, but i still believe d best move for nokia would have been to see meego tru. especially since we have wp7 nokia fones not coming out till 2012, it may just be enuf time for meego to mature. |

Two weeks ago Apple decided to sue Samsung for infringing intellectual property right. The truth of the matter is that this is not the first move of this kind that we see from them. In the last year and a half, Apple has sued HTC, Nokia, Google, and a few other companies for IP copying… all the patents allegedly copied have been from their mobile device division. As a matter of fact, Apple is running out of competitors to sue. In the most recent episode, Apple believes that Samsung’s Touchwiz UI is a direct copy of the UI present in the iPhone/iPod/iPad, also the shape of their galaxy s range of smartphones. This will likely be an interesting debate in a courtroom when Apple tries to demonstrate that they invented any of the following concepts: 1. Touchscreen 2. Icons 3. Alignment in a square array 4. Clicking on an icon to open an app 5. Swipe motion to change screens 6. Physical build with curved edges Truth be told, all of these concepts existed way before the iPhone became what it is today. They can as well sue everyone on the physical shape as most smartphones these days come in same shape just different sizes. Samsung last week returned the favour by instituting 10 law suites against apple in 3 countries. Also have in mind that samsung produces a sizeable number of iphone parts shipments. Could apple's suit be a threat for price renegotiation on shipments from samsung? I use a samsung galaxy sef and really think apple's suite is unnecessary. However, this is not the view of all. What are you guys take on this issue? Please leave us your comments. Thanks. |

Android. 2.3.4 Is Here! Google has officially announced Talk with Video Chat integration in Android 2.3.4. The service looks like it will work almost identical to its desktop counterpart: the status icon displays whether or not the person is available for video chat (or capable of it). Tap the icon to start a video chat session, and you’re good to go. It’s cross platform, too, meaning that you can chat with desktop users and other mobile users alike. It supports 3G, 4G, and WiFi, so you will be able to chat it up from pretty much anywhere. If the person you’re chatting with decides to type instead of speak, the text will overlay the video stream, so you can read it without navigating away from the chat session. If you do need to navigate away for some reason, though, it will pause the video feed, but the audio feed will continue, so you won’t miss a thing. Re: Android, Anyone? by texazzpete(m): 5:14pm On Apr 29, 2011 |
As at today, the Samsung Galaxy S2 is the best smartphone on the planet. I'll still chill with my iPhone 4 until I see what Apple has in stock for ios 5 and iPhone 5. But at last, there is a very good alternative out there! Unfortunately, I used to recommend Android phones to most people (cheaper and more readily available than the iPhone 4) based on cost, but the SGS II is priced similarly to the iPhone. So it'll go down to personal choice between iOS and Android. For sheer power, though, the SGS II can't be beat |

Re: Android, Anyone? by belushi7: 6:50am On Apr 30, 2011 |
@Tex, I agree with you. Dont know how much the sgs2 will be going for but I will definitely be upgrading to it from my sgs. The specs of the sgs2 are damn too attractive. @naijatoday, sgs is a good android phone, you can go for it. I have had mine for about 8 months now and it just keep getting better and better. |
