Is it the president, or the National Assembly that will move it from the exclusive to the concurrent list, many a times most of you talk & write, before you think.
What is the difference between your president and national assembly? Have the members of national assembly refused ur president's demand and desire even if it is to take somebody's wife?

Are you not Nigerian? please go and ask your question to the people representing you in the National Assembly.

They would be in a much better position to answer your inquiry.

Oga! Get sense small! Government (both state and federal ) employs less than 10% of the population. So what happens to the others? That sales girl, job man etc? What happens to them? (these people make up over 50% of the work force), what happens to the market woman, private businesses etc? You think they will fold their hands and be looking at your stupid face?

Emotional arguments cannot hide fact.

Soludo is disappointing me with his statements on this minimum wage undecided

You were perceived as a technocrat and made the governor of one of the most vibrants and richest states (in both human and commercial/industrial resources) in Nigeria, but you are giving excuses that you can't pay something less than 70k? When some states like Edo and Borno that are seen as commercially inefficient are proposing more than 70k? shocked shocked

Keep giving opposition chances to push you out!
I think Soludo is not just concerned about Anambra but the whole nation.....

keep your Soludo statistics to yourself sir. Why is a Nigerian senator going home with 25m naira monthly and minimum wage can't be increased to 100k? If the minimum wage is meant to be 60k, then senators' remuneration should be dropped by more than 70%

100 senators against millions of workers (At least 10-20 million workers will be paid min wage). Does that sound balanced to you?

Not supporting the senators but even if they work for free, the money recovered will not even solve 5% of the problem.

Which stupid fact is that! Ghana removed four zeros from the value of its currency, we are trying to add four zeros to ours. Keep deceiving yourself! We are on another trip of devaluation because that's what will happen. Increase in price without a corresponding increase in productivity is what's call devaluation. You will just be happy to see more zeros in your account but you can't buy more than what you use to . Stupid Obi supporters

but starving the citizens will perform wonders? There's something called cyclical flow of poverty. This is what we as a nation is rẹ-enforcing. No business nor economy will boom when the citizen earn penny.

As a former CBN Gov, He knows best and I'm sure PBAT share same ideology too

They wouldnt approve what State Gov would struggle to pay in the long run

If you disagree with this, just remember than you arent smarter than Soludo
People aren't realizing how rich or poor Nigeria is. Nigeria is only rich in resources and presently poor in earnings.
What's needed is massive production from the big population the country has which is yet to happen. Also, cutting cost of governance especially their earnings and blocking corruption ll help stabilize the economy in next 10-20 years. But politicians that runs the govt now aren't ready for that. Somehow, they were able to pay the judiciary huge fees like them to keep them mute. Guess they settled the military too.
So the case is to hold blokkos of politicians to production and reduction in earnings.

Earnings is a result of economic growth not the cause. Entrepreneurship and Investments are the only solution to economic growth not salary increments.

Hypocrisy and Soludo are interchangeable. You didn't pity Tinubu when he approved 160 million SUVs for each legislator

You did not pity Tinubu when he approved 21 billion to renovate VP residence

You didn't pity Tinubu when he started a coastal highway of 17 trillion to last 8 years plus

You didn't pity Tinubu when his obnoxious policies has made over 14 large scale companies to relocate from Nigeria in the past one year

You are an hypocrite and elitists class. You didn't what local government autonomy so you can continue to pocket their money

This man is just a typical Nigerian politicians

Governor Charles Soludo warned that an unsustainable wage might lead to job losses and spiral economic challenges in the country.

The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) warned that not all state governments and the Organised Private Sector can pay the N62,000 being proposed by the Federal Government and the N250,000 demand of the Organised Labour.

Soludo, who was Speaker from 2015 to 2019, made at The Platform Nigeria, a programme by Lagos-based church, Covenant Nation, to mark the 2024 Democracy Day.

He warned that an unsustainable wage might lead to job losses and spiral economic challenges in the country.

Please educate me more on how you arrived at this your calculations sir,how do you get those 0.5?
JohnBullMySon:

I'm sure you know better than Soludo

Nigeria's GDP per capita is 2162

2162/12 = 180 output p/m in USD

180/0.5 fact out profits est = 90 avg wage est

90/0.5 optimistic avg wage min wage gap = 45

45* 1.4 =63k min wage est thats before factoring in corruption and other inefficiencies within the system.

The internet is where the uneducated think they know more than the educated.

Since GDP = Total revenue generated.

GDP per capita= average revenue generated per person.

The first 0.5 is me estimating the percent of average revenue going to salaries. It is likely less than 0.5 because I used US economy as an estimate. US is 0.53. High income EU countries are around 0.45 to 0.5

The second 0.5 is me saying that minimum wage is half of average wage. From statistics it ranges from 0.3 to 0.6 for countries with high living standards.

These are very optimistic estimates so I don't see how enough money can circulate to pay above 50-60k.

They only option left is to add more money into circulation which then devalues the currency and things get worse.
