Ekiti - Gbegiri
Oyo -Efo riro?
I don’t know about others but with these two and Ondo, you’re wrong.

Oyo is known for gbegiri and ewedu and amala
Ekiti is known for woroworo soup and pounded yam.
exactly woroworo with egusi

You err alot

EKITI=IKOKORE not AMALA
OYO=AMALA
OSUN=POUNDED YAM ESPECIALLY IJESHA PEOPLE
OGUN= EBA
ONDO=POUNDED YAM
Ekiti do not take Ikokore
Ijebu owns Ikokore while Pounded yam with Egusi, Efo, Isapa, Worowo, Elegede are for Ekiti

My beloved Banga soup 😋.

Cook am with fresh fish, chicken, beef, dry fish, bush meat even iced fish sef... E dey enter cheesy
Banga soup is king. If you are a Nigerian not from the Niger-Delta, please have that soup at least once a year. Does wonders to you physically and mentally. grin Preferably taking with oriignal freshly pounded yam (not poundo). starch, semo or wheat. I don't recommend eba as garri has long term effects on the eye.

That name alone "Agoyin", is it your tribal name or Yoruba? Behave.

Meanwhile The OP doesn't get the food combination for Yoruba state.

How can you give Ekiti Gbegiri and Ewedu where Oyo/Osun are.

Ekiti State: Iyan (pounded yam) with Egusi
Lagos State: Ewa Agoyin and Bread
Ogun State: Eba with Ila (Okra soup)/Ikokore
Ondo State: Asaro elepo
Osun State: Eko/Ogi and Akara (solid/liquid pap with Akara)
Oyo State: Amala and gbegiri/Ewedu

Op try but Naija is more diverse than this.

I'm from Ijebu area of Ogun State.

We eat the best of Garri as Eba with Egusi-Ijebu.
However, ' Ikokore'- Wateryam porridge remains the specialty.

Meanwhile, same Ogun state, the Egba people enjoy White Amala, while other part of the state Put Fufu on top.

For those people in Plateau...

How does the “Gwate” taste??

Gwate is made from acha seed also called
fonio, hungry millet, hungry rice , I'm not from plateau but I grew up there I ate the meal couple of times when I was younger I never liked it, i haven't tried it now that I'm an adult perhaps I might like it now if I try again cause there are things I never liked as a teenager but like now as an adult

point of correction EWA Agayin is actually LAGOS food. Kindly take note and remove from Ondo state.
How about Togo? When we were small, it was usually called Togo beans.

So..are we talking of origin here?...or what they are known for
By the way,yorubas,ewe and fon are more or less siblings
That is what the partly misinformed OP is portraying here by ascribing food screenshots to the different states. Some are correct and some are VERY WRONG like those of Ekiti and Ondo States.

Gbegiri and Ewedu isn't in reality an original Ekiti State food but from the Oyo areas of Yorubaland but is nevertheless eaten by Yorubas and non-Yoruba folks worldwide wherever you have a large Yoruba Diaspora population. The Ekitis, Ondos, and Ijesa folks fancy their regular pounded yams and tasty Obe Egusi (or Egunsi) among other kinds of tasty regional soups with all kinds of meat.

Last but NOT least, yes, the indigenous Yorubas of Nigeria/Benin Republic/Togo/Ghana, the Ga of Ghana, Ewes of Togo and Ghana, Ogus and Fons of Benin Republic are closely related from the days of the powerful Oyo Empire centuries back with some similarities in cultures and religion. Aganyin is a name that is used to refer to migrant folks from Benin and Togo (indigenous Yorubas, Ewes, Ogus and Fons of these countries) living in Lagos and other majorly Yoruba states. Hence the name Ewa Aganyin. So, we can say that Lagos State is home of Ewa Aganyin since it was popularized from there by the West African immigrants from the nearby Togo and Benin Republic. But Lagos State also has it's unique cuisines derived from sea foods and more being a state that shares boundaries with the vast Atlantic Ocean and lagoons.

Re: Some Nigerian States, And Their Special Foods -- Fun Thread by mikaeli01: 1:48pm On Jun 19
Oga, you try small but when you got to Yorùbá foods you messed it up.
First, how did Gbegiri and Ewédú become Ekiti sauce or soup? If you associate them to Ekiti what will you give the people of Oyo state?
Second. Òndó state, ẹwà aganyi, Edo state, Black soup. Op, small small now grin. I have live those those state so I know there are mixed up in your compilation.
Òndó people cherish black soup and pupuru more than any food. If you doubt me enter Ondo state and travel around from Ondo town to Ọree, Ikalẹ etc

Succinctly stated. Well done.

Let's hope the OP updates or corrects the VERY WRONG food entries he made on Ekiti and Ondo States food delicacies.

The very tasty Yoruba-styled party Jollof rice, Moin Moin (or Olele) in leaves and more are regulars from the Yoruba folks.
