if u are factory unlocked and u dont need a jailbreak, u can always update, even if its not compulsory.

You don't need to download iMessage but rather activate it as this feature is included inside your stock Messages app.

Follow this procedure to activate your iMessage:

Settings ----> Messages ---- iMessage (Put it on) ---->Send & Receive

put your Apple ID & password to activate it.

You may decide to add more addresses later.

If your activation is successful, your iMessage appears in blue (uses your data) while your Text Message appears in green (uses your airtime).

Meanwhile, your recipient must also activate iMessage before your message can go via iMessage.

Download latest redsnow. Upgrade d baseband to ipad bb 6.15. U now downgrade to 5.13. Install ultrasnow to unlock

Are sure of stability of your Internet connection during the process? If the baseband was partially downloaded, you may have to try again.
