When a team get it's structure right, it will be ready to win. No England.manager took the hard decision to get the structure right and wasted those guys International careers pandering to Beckham for the most part of their careers.

There is reason why Kanu and Yakubu could not win AFCON despite playing multiple tournaments with more illustrious names (on paper) but as soon as Nigeria got it's structure right, Stephen Mba, Brown Ideye and Emenike were able to do so.
