Still waiting for takers on the questions below. Instead of tackling these questions, some are dancing round them and in their usual manner of chest beating, they are stating that they are more educated and more intelligent than others.

Katsumoto: I will respect anyone who can prove the following:

1. Awolowo was released before July 30th
2. It was Ojukwu's car that took Awo to Ikenne
3. Ojukwu was so strong and powerful from his base in Enugu that he prevented Gowon from re-arresting Awo once Awo left the Eastern region and arrived in the Western region
4. Ojukwu started the process of releasing Awo from prison as soon as Ojukwu became Governor but it was a coincidence that it was effected one week after Gowon became Head of State
5. Ojukwu was responsible for paying the salaries of the warden in Calabar
6. Ojukwu stopped receiving his salary from the federal government and ensured that all easterners stopped receiving their salaries as well as soon Gowon became HOS

Katsumoto:

1. Thats an ignorant statement (Awo and Akintola feud).

2. Yes Awo didn't want Nigeria but Awo's destiny should not be predicated by the whims and caprices of the Igbo. So you think Awo should have been waiting for the Igbos to change their minds about Nigeria? Do you think this is kindergarten?

3. Who said anything about Igbos being more intelligent? An Igbo man promulgated a decree to level the playing field in another region while another Igbo man (Ojukwu) naively announced to the world that the Igbo would export Igbo civil servants to the rest of the country. Where did you read that it was based on merit?
igbos dont and never needed awo but u coming here and trying to paint a traitor like him as a saiint is really mischievous . as for igbos announcing about exporting civil servents it confirms our intelligence and how far ahead we were to you , now europeans, indians, chinese, lebanese etc all exports civil servants and professionals to different countries including nigeria ,i bet you over look that one , you just a typical bad stereotype of a black man

If we're going to judge based on that - then MEND and Boko Haram definitely gave Nigeria more problems than Biafra...

It took the whole Nigeria (250 tribes) with Western support 10 years to defeat dialogue with MEND and give them amnesty. grin

3 years?? You didn't the war lasted three years because Biafra held out? The war lasted that long because Ojukwu won the propaganda war and Gowon was a nice guy. Anyway, whatever floats your boat.

Why do some people claimed AWO was against the igbos?

The letter confirmed its the northerners that are anti-igbo and events since then have shown who are their enemies.

@^^ Awo was never against the Igbos. Doing what was expedient and necessary for your own survival during war time(s) does not equate or imply "hate/against" the Igbo. Only lazy immature minds who know nothing about "WAR" or its implications/consequences would think otherwise and want to hang their inherent prejudices/hang-ups on him or policy. It is very convenient to blame him for all manner of ineptitudes inherent in the Nigerian structure. Igbos are noted for bad decisions and pointing fingers at the wrong direction like most other Nigerians anyway cool. It is a national culture of "living in denial". It is as Nigerian as Pounded yam wink.

How does an Igbo announcing that Igbo would export Igbo civil servants to the rest of Nigeria after another Igbo promulgated a decree to unify the government confirm intelligence? You are at risk of being ignored if you don't raise your game.

If Igbos didn't need Awo, the criminal, then why the hell is it an anthem in Alaigbo that Awo betrayed Ndigbo?

bashr8: you are not intelligent at all , igbos keep records of their own we dont keep records of how many northern christaians have been killed by muslim northerners, and how many yorubas, edos ,igala, southerners etc that have been killed in riots in the north. whos fault that yorubas dont care about their dead in order not to offend their northern masters. denial have always been in yoruba dna, keep licking northern a,ss even in military era they slaughtered all your leaders right there in yorubaland they set you up to kill yourselves in operation wettie and over ran your region yet you keep bowing to them , what a shamles set of people.

You are a 1st class olodo!

The United Nations Genocide Convention particularly mentions acts committed "with intent to destroy" a human group, and Lord Stonham speaks of "the deliberate destruction" of such a group. For nearly a quarter of a century Northern Nigerians have publicly expressed their intense hatred of Biafrans and, on the slightest excuse, have physically demonstrated their intention to destroy them. Several outbreaks of Nigerian hostility to Biafrans occurred from time to time even during the British colonial era. In 1945 Northern Nigerians set upon Biafrans resident at Jos and massacred them. But the British Administration did not take the matter seriously and did not even conduct an inquiry into the gruesome episode

Am sure, Lord Stonham, na biafran.

If you wanted out, the best thing you should've done back then was to take your war to the North - and create a buffer zone in the middle-belt...

I had to read about the war again, and truth be told - Igbo never gained any extra territory during the war - apart from the incursion of the mid-west, and probably Calabar and Port Harcourt (which were parts of Eastern Nigeria by the way).. You guys were on the defensive throughout the war, and the war was fought on Igbo land...

I think Ojukwu made a blunder by engaging Nigeria in a full blown war, a guerilla warfare would have been a better option...

It is unfortunate Yoruba peeps who are shouting their voices hoax about broadcast of August 1, 1966 made by Gowon failed to see the damning politics in signing the release of Awolowo from prison when on the same broadcast, Gowon informed anybody with ears that he (Gowon) did not have control over eastern region of Nigeria.

It is only a moronic dingbat will accept the fact that Lt Col Ejoor, Commodore Wey and Lt Col Hassan Katsina constituted the executive council that anointed Gowon the Head of State.

It would have been balanced art of contortion if these deluded revisionists have iota of decency to mention to undiscerning onlookers on the board that Lt Col Ojukwu issued a counter radio broadcast to the one Gowon gave on August 1, 1966.

Dede1: I am so happy that Yoruba people and non-Biafran southerners have congregated here again to unload irresponsible falsehood about the events of July 29, 1966 to May 29, 1967.

Please stop dancing around the issues and answer the following; Ojukwu issued his own broadcast, did he stop receiving his salary from Lagos?
