Hello House,

As my program is concerned I already got a supervisor to pursue MSc in Microbiology (Research based), at a University in Australia, can anyone suggest scholarship to apply for as my supervisor told me that he only has money to fund my research and not my living expenses...

Any suggestion house.

Yes, you seem to be on the right pathway to research career with your ability to get a supervisor. I understand that your supervisor has indicated interest in funding your research. However, i am not sure if this includes your tuition fees as this is not usually the case. You may need to confirm from your supervisor to ascertain if your tuition will be covered.

Nonetheless, I will suggest you search through the University web page to explore every scholarship opportunity and apply with the assistance of your prospective supervisor.

For you to be competitive in the scholarship application, you will need the following:
1. Good research proposal - I guess you have got this given your ability to get a supervisor who is willing to supervise you
2. Good academic grade- Minimum of 2:1 will suffice
3. Evidence of research publications
4. Good academic reference

I wish you good luck in your academic pursuit.

Hi Guys,

I have recently requested for UK police certificate. However, it appears the certificate is taking more time than anticipated to be delivered as I have been informed that the it was dispatched to Nigeria ten days ago.

Since I am yet to receive the certificate and I do not want to further delay the submission of my application given the fact that I have got all other documents ready, will I be able to attach this document on my portal any time after the submission of my application?

Thank you in anticipation for your advice.

Thank You for this.
I have started my application, and I mailed him yesterday for Research Proposal topic although I have one already. I also mentioned scholarship to him in my initial request mail. I selected Round 1 too because of the scholarship attached to it.
Thank You again, please can I mail You ?

It is highly important you have your proposal approved by your supervisor before submission of your application. In my own case, I submitted my research proposal which was approved by my supervisor. I currently have a scholarship offer from the University for research quarter 3.

With regards to your request for email, I am afraid I may not want drop my personal email on this forum. However, if you insist on having a private chat with me you may drop your email if you do not mind.

Best regards

@kennynelcon:

Since you are applying for HDR (MPhil) and have been accepted by a supervisor, i will advise you go ahead and apply. I am confident that you do not need any agent nor do you need to pay application fees. Given my experience with the QU PhD application which is similar to MPhil application, I will advise you speak with your supervisor about the possible scholarship opportunities as QU tuition for HDR may be expensive.

You may want to explore the current research quarter 1 scholarship round which closes in July or thereabout. Every information about the scholarship round is on the university web page.

Good luck.
Politics / Re: CBN Didn't Order Closure Of Church Accounts — CBN , Apex Bank by abankula: 12:05pm On Jun 22, 2013
It is apparent that most Nigerians have been bastardly brainwashed to the extent that religious and ethnic sentiments are always attached to any policy made by the Government. No doubt, Nigeria belongs to us all. It is therefore imperative that we all abide by rules and regulations.

In all honesty, i have seen nothing wrong with the recent directives from CBN asking some organisations, including churches and mosques, to declare some basic pieces of information with regards to their financial account. However, it is particularly disheartening to note that some religious leaders are blindly against this directive.

Why would a law abiding organisation refuse to disclose the simple information required on its financial transaction? Is there anything these religious leaders are hidden? Are these religious leaders truely transparent as they want us to believe? Yes, these are the questions that should be asked by reasonable Nigerians.

The earlier we do away with religious and ethnic sentiment, the better it is for the development and growth of our country.

I am confidently convinced that Abati is a complete lost man with no iota of conscience. This is just a confirmation of how extremely stupid people could become when it comes to acquiring wealth. What a shame!

Politics / Re: Death Of Makoko Chief (Timothy Agbe): Fashola To Blame - Femi Falana by abankula: 11:58am On Jul 23, 2012
It is an undisputable fact that Fashola is one of the very few performing governors in the country.
However, it must be said that fashola really got it wrong this time. If lagos state government felt
that these buildings were distorting the free flow of water and the lives of the residents could also
be endangered by continuing resident on this site, the proper and reasonable things to do would have
been to provide alternative site for these people to live.

I became visibly worried while recently watching the commissioner for environment in lagos saying that
government did not have any plan to resettle the affected residents of makoko. Why will a reasonable and
sensitive government ignore its responsibility to ensure provision of habitable shelter for its citizens?

As a governor and chief security officer in lagos state on whom his instruction to demolish the houses of
these settlers, without provision for alternative place, was carried out, Fashola should therefore be held
responsible for the death and injuries that might be recorded during this demolition.
Politics / Re: Audio Of $3M Conversation Between Lawan & Otedola (Part 2) by abankula: 5:38pm On Jul 04, 2012
I strongly beg to differ with those who belief that Otedola is innocent. The past events between Otedola and Faruk have attested to the fact that high level of corruption stil thrives in the country. As a matter of fact, it may well be presumed that Faruk is evidently guilty of taking bribe. However, i will vehemently oppose the exoneration of Otedola as he has not clearly demonstrated a reasonable ground for this. My opinion is premised on the fact that there are still questions begging for straight answers: who initiated the bribe? why has Otedola refused to release the full unedited video tape instead of the audio part?
It is my opinion that this matter should be thoroughly investigated while those involved should not go unpunished. Enough is enough!
Education / Re: Any G E J's Students On Nairaland by abankula: 5:49pm On Jun 28, 2012
I am of the personal opinion that the OP has just merely sought the experience of GEJ's former students on his teaching qualities as a teacher.
It is apparent that most contributors on this thread have realy moved off the track by linking this post to a request for comment on GEJ leadership qualities.
Since most Nigerians, without bias, are already aware of the GEJ extremely poor leadership qualities, except for the few myopic individuals whom their defence for mr president has been beclouded by their tribal, religious and personal affliation with him, it may be interesting to know if GEJ was a briliant teacher. As a note of caution, it may be wrong and unfair for any one who has not passed through his tutelage to conclude that he was a bad teacher based on his poor performance as a president as these two scenarios are incomparable. No one knows, until we hear from his former students, he might have been an exceptional teacher!
Car Talk / Re: How Reliable Are Hyundai Vehicles? by abankula: 8:07pm On Jun 07, 2012
Hyundai, to the best of my knowledge, is a very reliable car. I have once used Hyundai Sonata and travelled with it from Abuja to Ibadan on several occassions. Apart from servicing, i had no major issue with the car. However, the parts are very scarce in the market.

In a sane society, this unrefutable allegation is enough for Mr president to honourably resign. Unfortunately, the reverse is the case in Nigeria as this is seen as norms and culture by these idiots in the position of authority.

Politics / Re: Senate Approves UNILAG Renaming by abankula: 4:53pm On Jun 07, 2012
I have, for sometimes, on the right page with those who strongly believed that honouring chief MKO was long overdue and renaming a reputable university in his name was, no doubt, a perfect decision. However, the whole process that led to the renaming was sincerely illegal. As per the students who were on the streets protesting this decision, one thing obvious is that their action was not to really challenge the process, but just mere the name as they feel this will have negative impact on the school's reputaion. In fact, this presumption was 100% wrong as no university in the world has ever been rated based on its name. while i would not want to completely put all the blames on these students as some of them were too young or possibly not born when Abiola was prepared to stay out of his enormous comfort with a view to liberating nigerians from the hands of dictators and ensuring democrazy reingned in the country. What about the university's alumni who are living testimonies to the june 12 strugle? Apparently, i would have given my loyal support to the renaming of the institution if everything was centered around the illegality of the process. Having said that, i hope mr President would learn to understand that he has indeed failed the entire citizenry hence the spontaneous reactions.

I think nigerians should learn not to throw away decorum whenever we are commenting on issues like this. If some of us think we can afford the basic things in life if the government continues to unleash terror on the citizens, we must always remember that there are hundreds of million people in the country who are seriously affected by the decisions of these selfish and corrupt people in government. It is high time we all raise our voices against corrupt leaders in order to ensure a bright future for ourselves and the generation of our born and unborn children. Enough is enough!
