Family / Re: How Do I Get My Baby To Sleep Peacefully? by ada24: 11:57pm On Apr 28, 2011
how old is your son?

20 hours kei? i'm lucky to get 12 hours of sleep a day from my daughter

I would say depending on how old your son is try and start a routine, I started my (almost) 4 month old on a routine as soon as she hit 3 months and it has been working since. Bath, feed and then sleep at a set time every night. I make everywhere quiet and if she doesn't sleep after eating then i just put her down until she is tired but no playing or loud noises. I was quite lucky cos she never suffered from colic but she did use to wake up A LOT in the first 2 months at night and had BIG problems with wind for the first 5 weeks, she was in a lot of pain, crying and finding it hard to sleep peacefully. I gave her infacol until she was able to take gripe water at 5 weeks

Try gripe water (like others have mentioned) and infacol

Hello all, my advise for all the ladies here, make sure you take your kids
back to Nigeria for secondary school, at least for 2 or three years,

so they have a sense of culture!!! Very Important!

abeg - there is no way my little girl is going to secondary school in Nigeria even for one day.

back to topic, if one can afford it I would def say choose private education, however if you can't I think u have to really REALLY be involved in ur children's education and life. If you can get private tutors even better, if ur academically inclined you can also work with your children when they bring homework and give them extra work at home as well. I look at what Indians do with their kids and they push them hard and all they do is study, my little girl may hate it when she is older but that is what she will be doing - no social life or extended time in front of the TV - it will be homework and more school work, when she sleeps at night she will dream of algebra and Shakespeare - lol

My greatest fear for my child is other peoples kids and the bad influence they may have on her. My daughter is only 4 months and I have been looking at primary schools as well (lol i like to plan ahead).

this is just child abuse - if the person wanted a light skinned baby she should have had a baby with a white man - absolute nonsense

@sammiejo clomid can increase the size of the fibroid mine went from 2cm to 6cm

the big fibroid was 4cms before pregnancy (grew to 9cms) and the other two were 2cms each. the big one was partially in the uterus and the other 2 were Intramural.

Please help me to thank God for his miracle's and wonders.

I have delivered a healthy baby girl, mummy and baby are doing well and we wish you all a great new year and wait for all your testimonies.

She was born on New Years Day. I am hoping that this will start a trend for all of us this 2011 - i expect to hear ALL OF YOUR announcements in the next 12 months.

@laura202 - 3cm fibroid is nothing to worry about - i have 3 and one of them grew to 9cm during pregnancy. Depending on where it is it will not stop you from getting pregnant

justise:

Obviously, your English is not better than Dame's
The error in the sentence has got nothing to do with grammar

The only mistake she made is that she used 'people' where she ought to have used 'person'
And this is a mistake we all make on a daily basis
And why should she be prosecuted for a common mistake; after all, she is human like the rest of us?

Above all, remove the log in your eyes before trying to correct someone else!

The correct statement goes thus:

?

ok - maths was always my subject and not english and b4 we make this a lesson concerning grammar i think u will find the mistake is more than just using people or person, the whole sentence is incorrect. I doubt I have ever made any claim to be a prof of english and I am not even ashamed to say i use spell check for a lot of things (damn u microsoft word!!!)

I think the point being made here is that she is the first lady of the so call giant of africa - it is embarrassing when u consider her position on the world stage and not nairaland!!

What matters to GEJ is the language she speaks in the bedroom when them dey do the thing and that language is universal Oh Ah! chei, ewo, mmmmmh i am comiiiing, dont stoopp!!!! grin grin grin

yes but as her husband rose in his political career, she should have tried to better herself as well, one can only wonder how she is able to discuss with the wives of fellow leaders around the world.

Housewife or not, she is the first lady of Nigeria.
Politics / Re: Madam Jonathan And Her English by ada24: 12:05pm On Dec 24, 2010
this is funny and very embarrassing - did no one teach this woman basic grammar?

I think GEJ should stop allowing his wife speak in public she is actually making him look funny.

did she not learn the correct use of are and is in primary school?
Politics / Re: Arik Again! Passengers Allege Inhumane Treatment By Arik Air by ada24: 2:39pm On Dec 21, 2010
arik will not even to bother to fly people from nigeria to london cos they are not bound by EU law to refund passengers but they know they have to fly the naija bound passengers cos it will start getting expensive for them to put people in hotels in london.

arik look like they are going down the route of bellview - its a shame really cos the 30kg allowance was a life saver for me ealier this year. to be owing staff and treating customers badly is just disgraceful.

Travel / Re: The Big Freeze In Uk. by ada24: 8:36pm On Dec 20, 2010
I really don't get this country, a bit of snow and there is travel chaos - as for them saying this is strange weather is absolute BS, in the 80s it used to snow quite often so just cos we have nearly 12-15 years of mild winters they now relax. the one that annoyed me last night is when the transport minister had the gut to say "if we invest the money in clearing snow then we can't spend it elsewhere" yeah like dashing the people of luton half a million to inform the police of extremists - KMT!!!

as for the roads being gritted - these councils don't seem to know what we pay council tax for and that Philip Hammond annoyed me again a few weeks ago saying we should clear the snow ourselves as part of the BIG SOCIETY - ABSOLUTE NONSENSE.

Anyway my only concern right now is not getting stuck on my way to hospital - I'm about to pop and don't want to end up giving birth on a flipping A road or motorway.

ok rant over - this snow is not allowing me to go shopping and then u go to buy milk and the shelf is empty - what is that about!!!

the roads have not been gritted cos the snow fell very quickly and can u imagine that one of the busiest airports in the world - Heathrow has been closed - thats when u know its serious. All my friends and family that ventured out this morning are now stuck at their various locations.

Blazay:

Let us face it. The husband of your ex flame saw you for what you really are.
A slime mold. Hence he disrespected you. Afterall, she got the better man.
Most men can usually spot a pariah around their wives or girlfriends. Hence he reacted the way he did.
The lady must have been silly to invite you to her party or what ever in the first place. What disrespect to her husband.
When you end up dead by the road side somewhere, NL will mourn your kind too? shocked

Why don't you just admit you are jealous of the couple and your life remains empty?
Not every man would want to do what you did, so speak for yourself. Good you stated 'most'.
Btw, do people blackmail others with such things these days? undecided
You must be living in the dark ages.
So bloody what? undecided

At least we know who the real slut is. All three women have phocked your lousy ars*e and discarded you to the annals of irrelevancy, after the cheap entertainment.
Or, do you think you were the only one who got a 'kick' out of the whole mess? Why portray them as victims because of your so-called evidence?
No, you are the cheap slut. Used and abused like some cheap okrika material for your availability and lack of self-worth.
Get a life. No matter how short.

Maybe your mother, sisters and daughters go through the same.
Hence the curse keeps repeating itself around you.

I pray you reveal such to a man like myself. . .you will be the dead man. . .without a trace.
You think men like us would leave our wives for fools like you after such revelations?
I personally would mobilize all the females involved to feast on your corpse after killing ya.
That would be our only secret pact to bind us as one for ever in our secret cult. kiss
Just try your luck huh? cheesy

We go "arrange" you gaaaaaaaaaan. Oh boy. . .I say try ya luck. wink

THANK YOU I COULDN'T HAVE PUT IT BETTER MYSELF - @blazay if indeed the poster (JD) is telling the truth then he really needs to get a life.

I really wonder how old this story teller is. KMT

@ chaircover - do u even need to explain, i don't care if the man is a pastor self at 33 u should know that a man that buys u gifts will eventually come for his payback especially in a country like naija. I personally would not have accepted any gifts from him - brother in law or not.

chaircover:

I laugh in Swahili.

First we have an NGO who dont have clue about dealing with the issues that they were set up for. Did I read somewhere that they deal with families and relationships?

And then we have a 33 year old woman who the word "instinct" does not exist in her dictionary. A woman who should have been in her NIKE running shoes since the first lustful look (note I didnt say touch) cos the look would have come long before the touch.

I give the lady some credit, say she was raaped the first time . . . . . .How do we explain the second, third and fourth episode?

Why am I blaming the woman? because whether we like it or not, as we can see she is the one who is going to suffer from this situation more than anyone else, so she should have done more to protect herself.

Does one have a bath in an unlocked bathroom if one lives in the same house with a sexual predator? Wont you wear jeans and belt to bed at night and call carpenter to install bolt behind her bedroom door? didnt she have a house before she went to live with her sister? what stops her from packing her things and going back there?

If she had knacked the foolish man on the head with a pestle or kicked him hard in the balls during or after the first raape would the randy dog dared come round a second time? how could he even have explained his swollen head to anyone?

Now she wants to go to Canada  Please let someone buy her a ticket. Clearly she is as thick as a plank. Is a ticket & visa to Canada the answer to the issue at hand?

And as for the randy hubby? what goes round comes around and I hope he is prepared for possibility of the same fate to befall his own daughters

I dont even know why I am wasting time responding to this thread. . . . The whole lot of them should just go and sempe somewhere. Talk about misplaced priorities; the wife too in her quest for americana pikin left her randy husband alone for months to get up to his own devices or did she not know deep down in herself that she married a dog for a husband? They all fit each other sef.

chei - mrs chaircover u dey vex tonight o!!!

i was feeling for this woman until i read the canada issue - my sympathy went out of the window after that, only canada!!!!!!! KMT

Francis - i completely understand where u are coming from and sometimes it can be hard to identify with either the British and Nigerian culture. But if you really want to know ur roots u have to integrate yourself more with the Nigerian community in the UK - if ur Ibo I know that there is some social group that meets once a month in London for young Ibos u will get to meet people there.

I really do get the jealousy thing about when u holiday in Nigeria and there is nothing u can do to change peoples inferiority complex, i get it whenever I am in Nigeria and I am so used to it I just brush it off, it doesn't make me stop trying to speak broken or Ibo, if they want to laugh then laugh all i need is an answer to my question and for u to tell me how much something is if I am buying from u in the market.

If I were you try as hard as possible to learn about Nigerian history, culture - TRY, the internet is a good source also get books ask u mum even or aunties.

I was quite lucky as Ibo was spoken at home while I was growing up and my parents were very Nigerian, so I advise u to try and get ur mum to tell u more about Nigeria (if she can after 40+ years).
