Fashion / Caring For Your Leather Bags by aserena(f): 2:08pm On Feb 18, 2013
I love leather bags, especially when they are genuine ones, you know what I mean, don't you? Since I know that leather can remain beautiful for a life time with proper care, I decided to search out how to take good care of them. I will come by from time to time to share the result of my research with you. Read on for Paris B's experience. Enjoy. wink

I love my bags and I am especially partial towards leather bags because a good leather bag can last a long long time and stay looking good… if you care for it properly.

Here are 5 tips on how I care for my leather bags – high end and low end.

1. Clean them with proper leather cleaner

For my more expensive bags, I use the Leather Cleaner and Leather Moisturizer from Coach. They retail for RM75 (US$10 in the USA) each for 6 fl. oz. Mine are the old packaging – they last ages! For regular bags, I use the Leather Cleaner by Amway. Works a treat on most leather from my bags to my sofa set! cheesy

There is one exception to cleaning leather – vachetta leather or untreated leather. This is the light pale leather you get in the trim or straps or handles on Louis Vuitton monogram bags and on some Coach bags. If they get dirty or wet, its hard to clean because applying anything on them can change the color of the leather. What I do is just leave it. Over time, the pale leather will darken to a dark honey brown shade and all stains/marks will disappear or blend right into the new color. Looks better too in my view smiley

2. Clean your leather bags often

Do not wait until they look dirty before cleaning your leather bags. I clean mine once every 2 weeks if I’m using the same bag for the whole duration. Otherwise, I clean them and air them just before storing them. Cleaning it often means you are cleaning off dirt and when you polish it or moisturize, you are helping to prevent dirt from sticking to it. I use a soft old cotton T-shirt to clean my bags or a microfibre cloth – key word : Soft. You don’t want your precious leather bag scratched.

3. Stuff your leather bag when storing

When you buy your new bag, have you wondered why its always full of stuffing? Do you get irritated with all the wads of paper in it? The answer is so that it holds its shape while being stored. You can do the same at home either with the same stuffing that came from the store or you can stuff it with old T-shirts or towels or even bubble wrap. This way, your bags will hold up well and you will not have those awful creases you sometimes get in improperly stored bags.

4. When storing leather bags do not squeeze them into a confined space

Yes bags can take up a lot of space when storing but please resist the urge to stuff as many bags as you can in one space. You risk creasing the leather and a creased leather bag isn’t pretty. This is especially true if its a structured leather bag – once it bends or there is a crease its gone. So store them nicely, standing up where possible. It makes it easy for you to find your bag of choice too!

5. Store your leather bags in dust bags

A good bag should always come with a dust bag. It keeps your bags dust free when being stored and can prolong the life of your bag as it will not get scuffed or scratched. Dust bags also do not scratch your bag as plastic can. If you do not have a dust bag, do not fret. Just get an old cotton pillow case and use that as a dust bag. That’s what I do! smiley

Can you waterproof your leather bag?

You can also waterproof your leather bags by spraying a water repellent on them e.g. Scotchguard by 3M which is easily found in most supermarkets. I used to scotchguard my leather shoes, with ScotchGuard or any water repellent – it really works! Rain water just rolls right off without seeping in.

But I’d only do this with dark coloured shoes and similarly with dark coloured leather bags because water repellents can stain the leather and turn it a darker shade or change color totally. So, before you do anything to your bags or shoes, be sure to check on a small spot first before spraying your whole bag and then regretting it later. So, I do not scotchguard my bags at all – I value their bright colours too much!

Leather bags can dry out if they get soaking wet. But if its just a few drops of rain, I let it dry thoroughly then clean, moisturize and polish them. Good as new! smiley

If you have more tips for caring for your leather bags, please feel free to share! We could all learn a thing or two from each other smiley

Stay beautiful.

Education / Re: 80% Of First Class And 2.1 Failed Nnpc Test by aserena(f): 11:29am On Aug 16, 2011
Well considering the fact that there is favouritism and victimisation of students in our universities, I agree with the fact that 2.2 and below are sharper than these 1st class and 2.1 candidates.

On the other hand, will you blame them? It did not start today. It has eaten deep into our educational system, right from primary to university levels. If they had been taught that cheating is evil, then they would have worked hard enough to be able to defend their certificates. Little wonder why large companies give greater priority to graduates from overseas.

What should be worked upon, first of all, is the corruption. Then we can take things from there.

God help Nigeria.

Dear Admission Seeker,

>> Are you frustrated with writing JAMB every year and yet no show?

>> Tired of staying at home when all your friends are in University already?

>> Or maybe you're already in University but hate the course you're studying and want to get started on one your heart longs for.

>> Or perhaps, your secret dream for years has been to study abroad but due to lack of funds, you 'abandoned' the idea?

>> Are you afraid, really afraid that when you're through with school, you may not be able to find a job?

Now you can say goodbye to all these fears and take up this opportunity to school abroad without even paying a single kobo for it!

How Is That Possible?

Let me explain!

Over the past few years since year 2000, Scandinavian countries (Finland, Sweden, Denmark, etc) have been running a program which allow ANY student to study from Undergraduate to PHD level for FREE!  Even in the USA.

Here, I just want you to take advantage of some of these opportunities and by God's grace, be part of those that will school abroad for free this next academic year.

Here's the link to one university that it's tuition fee is $0.

I believe you are saying wow!!  Is that true? Why not find out yourself by going to Berea College site yourself?

There are more schools that give such opportunities.  You can check out http:///rnK8ks for more info.

I don't talk much because I believe in action.  The only thing that can stop you is YOU. wink smiley

Computers / Major Blogging Mistakes Made By New Bloggers. by aserena(f): 7:17pm On Aug 01, 2009
Hi,

I am doing a research on this topic and would like to us to share the common mistakes made by bloggers.

I need people to state, from their own experiences, the mistakes they have made.

It is time for us to learn from these mistakes so that we can become better bloggers. Before I go, let me start by stating one of my own mistakes here and this is the use of free blogs like .com. This is because their disadvantages, some of which are.

Ø You do not have 100% control over your blog because your blog files and your information is stored on someone else's system.

Ø If you are mistakenly found guilty of violating any of their terms they have the authority to your entire blog through their own discretion.

Ø Some providers like do not allow bloggers to make money from any form of ads like adsense. Once they discover it, they shut you down.

These are some of the reason why it is not wise to use free blogs. Due to this discovery, I have decided to get a domain name and host my website. I found a place where I can get a domain name for free and host my website for a little token. I will share this with us once I discover how good they really are. If you have also noticed any mistake or are confused about any area of blogging, why not drop a note here. We can always learn from each other.

Hi,
Can someone please tell me how the letter below sounds?
Do you think it is from a female or a male?
I honestly think it is from a male who is pretending to be a female.  It is really annoying.
Please try as much as possible to be honest in whatever you do. I hate pretenders. For the  information of the sender of this mail to to my box, I am married and not willing to be anyone's partner(especially when I sense a fowl play).
The only kind of partnership I want is strictly business.

I am  embarassed and really really  angry.

Webmasters / Blog Tutorials- Let Me Take You By The Hand by aserena(f): 8:46am On Jun 20, 2008
Hi,

I am not saying I know everything about blogging, but I can put you through the basics of blogging, up to the level where you can start making money from your blog. I am open to corrections because that is one of the ways I learn. In fact I will be bringing tips from my blog since I want as many people as possible to learn how to do what I am doing, especially if you are a student, an applicant or someone with a special need who wants to share his/her experiences with people in their shoes.

Let me start with the definition of blogging. I am going to give it my own definition which is, the art of writing and publishing your feelings, research, expressions, e.t.c. for the public to view. In other words, it is the diary of one's interest that is being shared with the world.

There are various blogging sites such as Myspace, Yahoo, MSN, TypePad, Blogger, Facebook and Bitacoras .

I am going to introduce you to blogger.com as this is a very simple and encouraging site to use. It belongs to Google and they have various supports and programs that help bloggers worldwide. You are free to venture into another blogging site but learn with one first.

To start blogging, you will need to

* Choose a site where you can host your blog. In this case, we'll use blogger.com
* Choose a niche area. That is an area of interest or an area where you have discovered a need.
* Choose a name for your blog. A name that matches with your niche area.
* Open a Google email address (for blogger.com).

All that ready, let us move to action.

1. Go to www.gmail.com from your browser.
2. Create a gmail account.
3. Go to www.blogger.com on another page.
4. Log in using your gmail address and password.
5. Create a blog by following the simple steps given.
6. Select your blog name and url.
7. Select a template - this means the design you want your site to have.
8. Fill in the other information truthfully.

You can follow me up at www.blog2tor..com

Peace. cool smiley
