And to think that the people vandalizing pipelines see nothing wrong in their devilish acts amazes me.

I think its not only government that is failing us. A lot of us are failing this nation. Some people here know those profiting from this evil acts yet they complain about the situation.

Prayer is that those responsible for all these issues will know no peace from generation to generation.

No nation survives on handout. I don't think the money for power project is our problem, rather it is the will and sincerity to do the needful.

....what do u expect. I ve the feeling it wont be long for Spain to fall when Barca don fall. The secret behind Brazil success is that they dont allow Spain to play their game' fanciful' football the used to.....Na war dey bring come. But mark my word, Spain will still remain no 1 in FIFA ranking while Brazil will move to top 5.

Dont think Brazil can make it to the top 5 any soon. Check their points and not just their position.

Nothing so spectacular about this spain against Tahiti. Not any different from the Nigeria's performance.

do hope the SE skeptics saw missed chances on the part of spain.

Sometimes I wonder how everyone off pitch claims to have more sense than those playing on the pitch.

Do We really think those guyz have nothing at stake? They have their careers at stake and wouldn't want to flop at such big stage. Then come time and chances regardless of your status and FIFA ranking.

lets take it in good faith and hope for better matches ahead.

You can never please an average Nigerian.

Must we complain about everything? Lets take this in good faith and hope the team gets better in subsequent matches.

Should not forget the SE arrived in Brazil Yesterday morning so they probably have got little time training together.

Mark my word, we all shall see an improved SE against Uruguay!

Where exactly are you from? Which state in the US? How long did you stay with the family?

Since you are in your late twenties, were you not in a relationship before coming to Nigeria?
Education / Re: Hnd Program In Nigeria Is A Scam! by beewhyfocs(m): 5:57pm On Feb 13, 2012
The truth be said, an average university graduate is different from an average HND holder. By this difference, I mean in terms of interaction, reasoning and outlook to things. This I think is partly due to the kind of training received respectively in addition to the sustained mentality while in school.

While a university student feels he has several opportunities waiting for him in the outside world, his counterpart in the polytechnic always have to deal with the mentality of discrimination in the offing.
The sad truth is this, both have their places and should not be compared to each other. The comparison is similar to comparing Mango with Orange.

they wont give u a job with ur naija Bsc but they will give u admission for Msc or Phd not because of the quality of your education but because you are paying for it, check ur yahoo mail, you will always see online masters of liverpool university, the schools only want to make more money.

Im not even talking of online masters like university of Liverpool( a low ranking uni in the UK) but a full time residential study. U wl need to go through their education to appreciate their job assesement which most intl students (not just Nigerians) fail because we are in different climes. Many Nigerians secure good jobs after the MSc and Phd in addition to their BSc from Nigeria.
Education / Re: Nigerian Varsities Fail To Make Top 1,600 by beewhyfocs(m): 11:26am On Feb 06, 2012
This is a webometrics ranking and not academic ranking. It only rate the the schools web presence and not the quality of teaching. Regardless, Nigerian education is not as bad as Nigerians portray it. If not, why do most universities abroad still allow or BSc holders to do a MSc or PHd with their degrees?

What salary does he plan to cut? Just 25% of basic Salary? That is negligible for sure. The basic salary is just a minute fraction of what these Legislooters and executhieves take home. At macro level, it will only make sense if the entire take home is reduced by 40%.
And the presido should also tell us how he plans to cushion our cost of fuelling our generator since transportation is not the only source of our worries.

tanimola22:

Sir,

Could you please explain how he can ' Do the PhD and work as a consultant alongsideĀ“? Is it your assumption that a PhD is so much of a big deal in Europe that companies will come begging you to consult for them? With much respect to the OP's exemplary achievements, a PhD might be a big deal to Nigerians in Nigeria because some departments in some Nigerian universities have only 3 PhD holders; however, it is not the case in Europe and maybe North America. Again, with the OP`s stellar grades, he can get a fully funded PhD position anytime he wants. All he needs to do is go online and apply. The offers will start coming. It is as simple as that.

All these respectable people telling the OP to work as a consultant while doing the PhD, I would like to let you know that there are hundreds of professors also looking for the same consulting job. Are you all telling us that a PhD student will surely get a consulting job before his professors? I am sure the OP fully understands very well what I am saying. This is the point where the reputation of a student`s PhD supervisor is very important. A student is more likely to get a consulting job if the student's supervisor himself/herself is a consultant. The student will simply leverage on the supervisor's reputation and goodwill.

I am just eagerly waiting for a forum member whose ID is`Yoruba-Igbo`to comment. He is an oil worker in Europe and he is also doing his PhD too. He is in the best position to counsel the OP on what to do, IMHO. I believe his counsel will be priceless to the OP.

So, Mr. Yoruba-Igbo, we dey wait for you O.

I enjoyed reading your post man. Are u a FUTARIAN?
In my own, I feel the OP should follow his heart on this matter. Public forum like NL will not suffice for such a crucial decision making.

Career / Re: Globacom Staff Resignation Mail by beewhyfocs(m): 11:26am On Sep 18, 2010
Glo, Everyone say the company has no good structure. To make the matter worse no recently employed Nigerian has an offer letter on Glo letter headed paper. I got an offer from them after 4 months of rigorous interview only to get my offer letter on Global Manpower letter head. It was even global manpower offering the job. The ID Card bear global manpower seconded to globacom. Funny enough, glo HR did the interview and Adenuga himself conducted the final interview. Despite all that, they stil dint offer the 2.5m we requested for, rather they offer 1.5m with confirmation after 1year(instead of d normal 6months). The same week I was posted to the North as a rollout staff.

As God would have I got a better offer in Lagos in a better structured company. Thank God he delivered me else I had no option but to take the offer.

We were even made to believe that we were privileged to ge the offer, that some of us are coming from Ade & co, which are no where close to Glo.

All the same, govt need to see to the employment condition in glo. The labour law is not followed properly in employment.
Education / Re: Which Federal University is the cheapest in Nigeria by beewhyfocs(m): 11:50am On Jul 27, 2010
Cost is relative so no need to be conclusive in our submissions here.

I attended Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) between 2001 and 2006.

100L - school fees #2600, hostel #90 +#250 maintenance.
200L - #1500 or so accomodation #2500(including some maintenance charge)
300L - #2500
400L - #3500
500L - #7500

The 400L and 500L Fees led to Aluta. Altogether the amount I paid is nt up to what my nephew pay nw for Nursery 1 in 1 session or even a term self.

Nigeria - a country with 150 million population. Unfortunately, the same 150 million presidents rules the country. Or why cant we just allow GJ to be the president he is and allow him to work.

Let FIFA ban us if need be and we would know its for a cause of football sanity in the country. Who would loose afterall? Is it not the NFF cabal? I read some pleading for the youth. Have they ever paraded our best footballers? Is it not their people they call?

Lets wait and see. Are we not the ones that call for revolutions all the time? Why then are we scared of FIFA ban even if it last 5 years.

I dnt think its abt filling any form. I suspect the prescence of a fifth columnist in GTB these days.

After depositing some money in my AC i had to deactivate my ATM even though I dont respond to those naughty scammers.

I was in GTB abule egba when an old woman came complaining of unauthorised withdrawal from her ATM. She too had to deactivate the ATM.

Romance / Re: I'm Too Scared by beewhyfocs(m): 11:51pm On Jun 13, 2010
I can sense your fears from your post. You are 27 and you feel time is not on your side as a lady, You have a child and that makes you feel somehow. Despite these, you should also realise that it is better to be single hoping to be married than to be married and praying to be single. For goodness sake, this guy is cheating on you and his excuse is such a lame one that seems to defy a rational help. If, to him, it is man to cheat then expect a lot of heart break in the marriage because you wont satisfy him when you are married. Also, who knows if he has a son outside too out of his sexual escapades. I doubt if you will be happy to see a woman show up in the future with your husband's child. So be guided, I dont think this guy is worth it, bearing in mind that you can't change a man, especially the ones holding tight to a faulty principle

In the same vein, the mother dont like you! Since you are in Nigeria, we know how much influence the mother can have on her son. if you are not careful, you will harbour resentment for her since she would do the same for you.

Advice, get your mind straight, and forge ahead with your life. Leave this guy alone. Yes, he loves you today with your son, he can change tomorrow considering the circumstances you have presented!

Guyz please help attend to this.

Hello guys, I just found this thread and Im enjoying it.

A quick one please, I do have problem with my HP Pavilion dv9000. I use a window vista operating system.
I have used it for almost 2 years now and it just started having a start up problem. Each time I start,
it sometimes refuses to load the OS and would just stop midway like that, though sometimes it loads fully.
Each time it does that, I will long press on the start button to put it off and restart from the button again.
This could go on like 3 or 4 times before it eventually start up normally. I will like to know the cause of this effect and the possible solution.
Computers / Re: Best Antivirus To Use by beewhyfocs(m): 11:18pm On Jun 03, 2010
I use FSecure Client Security 9.0. My Uni in the UK then gave us free access to the full version with the school password. Since then, I never bother myself with any other. I still have acess to update to the latest version in Nigeria. So for me Fsecure is treally secure!
