@tzetzefly won't that prove nothing has changed if his purpose is tourism? a conference may be a plus but his financial status may affect this.
@ opsy4real regarding your soon to expire passport in Jan 2014, if you get ur visa in July, you'd be able to return b4 6mths unless of course you postpone the US trip till much later. Either way you can apply for a new passport up to 6 mths b4 the old one expires and any visas in the old passport remain valid till the very date that visa expires. You'd simply travel abroad with both passports.

@ echo truth be told, you need to convince the VO that you are returning to Nigeria. That means you have ties such as a well paying job, investments, leave time from work etc. Some of these questions are asked of you in the visa app. form. The letter of invitation from your friend is a formality which may or may NOT be sighted by the VO. He/She will assess your intentions from the info you put on the form. Saying you met her online automatically implies your intent is to immigrate and not return to Nigeria and she is your way out. If your final intent is to meet ur american friend and get engaged or get married on arrival, that cannot be implied on your application or during the interview. You can't say you're visiting for 3 mths, shorten it to 2 weeks or 14 days, after all you won't get approved leave from your office for that long. Let your finances show you are paying for your trip and have ties to Nigeria. All the best.

@opsy let's not digress from the US visa gist. The vfs website has all the info you need, read everything it says there. You wait 10 days from d day of biometrics. But if they have lots of demand it may be a few days longer.
Travel / Re: Usa Visit Visa by blawi1(f): 8:51pm On Jun 14, 2013
@opsy4real you dont need to book an appointment simply show up @ VFS lekki btw 8 and 1pm to drop off your documents and passport. Next day you go to french embassy for biometrics (fingerprinting and digital passport photo taking). Up to recently, biometrics was done @ VFS but the website directs you prepare to go to french embassy on the next work day for it.

@oyinposh a visiting visa is called a B2 visa so it's covered by the category B1/B2. you're on the right path. B1 refers to business visa and both types get lumped together.

Hello house, I'm new in here but have experience and a valid 2 yrs multiple entry US visa so i will share.
@Asorock1 the VO was sincere that travel history helps so i will advice you to travel to Europe. For a Schengen Visa, France is very easy. First of all their economy is pretty big on tourism and so they are keen on tourists. Travel for a week or 10 days or something. Second of all, if you provide all the documents they require on the www.france-ng.com/Lagos/‎ you'll get the france visa. Also, you don't have to wait till next year to reapply for the US visa. Get the schengen visa and use it asap. Thereafter reapply and attend your interview after correcting any other errors. On your new DS-160, your travel history is about previous visas and trips to the US so it wont go on the form, however during your interview, you may be asked about previous trips abroad and of course your passport with the visa will be right there to verify the info. I hope this helps.

Question answered Vctrokoye, make photocopies of everything. Have extra passport photos too. you'd need them later for the medicals. Whatever is not needed you keep for your personal records.

Hello people, I don't know if I'm alone in this wait for feedback from the school I applied to. Dalhousie is yet to decide on applications for MPH Fall 2013. Latest feedback I got from them is it will be as late as April or early May before I'd know for sure if I was accepted. For everyone's sake I hope the online application for Student's Visa kicks off asap so our documents n passports can be put to good use during processing.

Hello house, I am new here and appreciate all the contributions thus far. Pls has anyone exerienced successful student visa approvals for graduates who are going for a Diploma? Especially if both courses are unrelated? For example a Microbiology graduate who wants to go for a business management diploma in a community college. I need your input on this. Thank you.

@Stone2x

Hi, now that you've clarified your thoughts, it's easier to offer you info. Regarding Skilled immigration, that program is suspended for now (since July 2012). Hopefully it will be reviewed and recommenced later this year.
You could try applying for a job and you emigrate as a worker. Miss Ahoy did that so she can help with more info. Checkout wwww.cic.ca for more info on the requirements. All the best.

grin I laughed out loud when I saw the HUGE font size words. Stone 2x, you decide what path you wanna take to Canada. Is it by mariage to a PR or Citizen, as a student, as a visitor who will overstay her tourist visa permit, by immigrating from here to become a Permanent Resident? So many ways to chose from. Most discussions here pertain to student visa applications so if that's not what you desire... we cannot help you as well as others can.

@gbesunboke:
You need to send in your original degree certificate, original birth certificate, original everything. That is why most people are anxious when there is a delay in the visa processing. All your documents remain with them until you get your visa, be it 2 months or 6 months.

@ Mercilicious @xtus I am sorry for the disappointment. In a few weeks it won't hurt so much and maybe you'd be ready to review the denial and reapply.

Siga: ....one second...not all schools but, nearly all...I just secured admission for someone at Humber College for PDG in Human resources management...all I submitted was a certified photocopy of her Degree Certificate (not Transcript) by a lawyer and it was accepted....so...exceptions dey...na the coordinator go decide...

Ok let me edit that to " schools requesting transcripts" rather than ALL schools........ Either way if they ask for it, it's best to give them right?

jenyfar:

I intend goin for an LLM in environmental law. My problem is I know that it will take a lot of time for my school to send original transcripts to dem, dats y I'm a bit skeptical. I've written to dem anyway asking If I can use unofficial copies to apply first, I also explained why. I hope dey give a positive response, I haven't even started and I'm tired already. But God pass dem

All Schools request ORIGINAL transcripts, there are no exceptions. Get a current student in your school and write an authorization letter for him to pick up your transcript on your behalf but addressed to the school(s) of your choice. When the sealed envelopes with your school seal/crest endorsement get to you, mail to the school(s) unopened. Otherwise they won't consider your application until you comply.

Hello everyone, I am a Fall 2013 PG student waiting on feedback from Dalhousie. Once I get my admission letter which would be sometime in early March, I'd have more to write. Otherwise I have read the thread and know what documents to prepare for CDHC. You all have been very informative so far. Many thanks, and all the best to everyone.
