Travel / Re: Usa Visit Visa by BnBarbie(f): 12:46pm On Jul 12, 2014 |
Dear all, Let me also give back as i have benefited immensely also. I hope someone can pick a thing or two from my experience. I had earlier gone alone for interview and was denied. The lady asked me what my purpose of goin to the US was which i said was to have my baby. Then she asked if i was married, what i do and where i work, what my husband does, do i have children and then denied me. No docs checked. So we decided to try again and applied together. We went for the Visa interview on 3rd of July and we were granted. The transcript is as follows; VO: i'm gonna take your fingerprints starting with you sir (my hubby). Your turn maam. You are going to Phoenix, Arizona maam? Me: Yes i am VO: what for Me: To have my baby VO: How many months pregnant are you? Me: 6 months VO: How come you didn't declare that when you were here for your last interview? Me: (very shocked). I did mention it. I even mentioned it in my form (i mentioned this in the space provided when asked if you have been denied a visa before). My husband also chipped in that i did mention it. VO: What do you do sir? My husband responds with where he works and his responsibilities VO: Do you have any correspondence with a doctor in the united states and description of costs? Me: Yes pls (then i get my appointment confirmation from MIHS and page 4 of the maternity agreement which contains the description of charges) VO: Where is the rest of this document? This is only page 4. Where is page 1 and the rest of it. (i remember someone on nairaland got denied wen she showed a VO the entire maternity agreement with the VO saying that contracts in US aren't what they seemed, so i didnt bother printing the entire document. And since they are never patient to read docs.) Me: Its an agreement with many pages, that is the page with the description of charges VO: I need something with a letter head ***All this time, He wasnt talking calmly o. Luckily for me i had page 1 of the agreement which i had printed earlier and attached to page 4. But i detached it when i read that lady's story. But it was still in the folder. So i quickly brought it out and handed it to him. VO: OK. Looked at it and said this is relatively cheap. So how much have you budgeted for this trip? My husband replied saying 9500 USD Me: We have a budget spreadsheet with the cost breakdown. i quickly slipped it to him. VO: I don't see accommodation here. Me: its in the cost breakdown. He kept saying i don't see it, its not there. As i didnt want to talk too much na, i brought out my extended stay reservation and slipped it to him and said its on the spreadsheet, 1279 USD VO: ok. So you'd need about 10,000 USD which is way higher that what most people earn here in Nigeria My hubby and i: We both earn well. i said hw much i earned and my hubby followed suit. Then hubby said our combined income in Naira and den i followed suit saying the dollar equivalent. VO: He picked up each of our passports and flipped thru. Did you both go to the UK together? Hubby and i: No we went separately me: But we both travelled to dubai on our honeymoon (i said that just in case his question was to see if we had travelled outside the country together before) VO: Ok, so how long are you staying? Hubby: she would be staying for 2 months and i would be staying for just 2 weeks VO: OK, your visas have been approved. Please make sure you take all your documents with you as getting the visa is just the first phase. You'd likely be interviewed like this at the POE because you are visible pregnant. Pick up your visas at this location. 6 Likes |

Tmikejay: NYC POE experience. Thank God for you oo. I sure say dem send am Those pips can be really funny sha. That is how the lady that interviewed me first tym and rejected me didn't log into the system that i said my purpose for travelling was to give birth only for the VO that interviewed me and my husband the second tym to ask how many months pregnant i was and y i didn't declare that in the first interview. I told him i did declare but he said he can't see that on the system. |

P0rtHarc0urtB0y: @diddy11; To clarify what PH boy mentioned, If you do fill a new DS160 form, just go to your appointment scheduling profile and change the DS-160 confirmation number under personal details. It automatically changes on the appointment confirmation and you can reprint it. @PHboy; congrats on your visa approval @Theleakytribe, AK007 and impish on the arrival of your bundles of joy. 2 Likes |

Hi, I also had a similar issue with my husband's DS-160 form when booking for our appointment. What i did was to fill another form for him and then instead of scheduling one appointment for both of us, i removed him as an additional applicant on my profile, created his own profile separately and booked separately but it was the same date and d same time. It doesn't really matter if you both go with one appointment or two appointments, as long as you appear together same day and same time. The koko is that you should both pick one number when you get to the embassy. That is what will link you both and cause you both to appear together in front of the VO. But since others said they didnt need to change anything and dint have issues with their visa processing, then maybe its nothing. Mollydee88: |

So sorry to hear that. I have noticed from recent refusals on this thread that the VOs don't seem to like to see that medical expenses have been prepaid. Maybe they feel we do that as a way of bending their decisions. Anyway @Jyde2014; i remember you saying your wife applied before and was refused. Did you rectify the initial issues that were raised in the last interview regarding the account statements? Did you indicate that your wife would be with family in the US during her stay or she'd be alone? I'm asking because you mentioned that in her previous interview she was asked if she'd be going with her husband and she said work may not permit. can you let us know what questions were asked this time? jyde2014: Gd morn all, |

The thing is there arent any set prices for these things. It all depends on your budget and your taste. Decor would depend on how big the hall is, the kind of decor you want etc Photography would depend on how many photobooks, sizes of the photobook etc So i think first and foremost. Think about how much you are willing to spend, then we can go from there. If you are hiring a caterer, they'd be the ones to sort out the waiters. rotudeb: Thanks Phema |

My number 1 mistake was not using a caterer. I felt caterers were gonna be a rip off and that there would be plenty food for guests to eat cos the last thing i wanted was for my guests not to eat. i wanted my guests to eat and be overfilled sef but at the end of the day, some pips said dey ate plenty while some others dint get to eat and u can imagine my anger when i went home that nyt and saw coolers of ofada rice in our kitchen gone bad, moin moin neva got to the venue. food wasted wella. We bought the cow ourselves, bought all the ingredients, hired someone to cook, hired pips to serve, rented plates, glasses and all. A day to the wedding, i was goin up and down to hire ikoko irin (huge pot for large cooking) Well, i guess my mistake was thinking that evrything wuld fall in place. i should hav gotten som1 to coordinate but i just assumed family members would step up. I even heard that my mum in law and one of my aunty's had an argument (cos we did just one catering). Sumthn about the waiters serving my side of the family only and then my mum in law redirected them bla bla bla. Then came the time to return the plates and stuff, and the they were incomplete, and of course we had to pay for the missing stuff. I ended up paying more than if i had hired a caterer, family members packed plenty of food home that my guests should have enjoyed and then food wasted Phema: 1 Like |

Ok, since they said you can do that and dove30 has also confirmed it, then no problem. To also allay your fears, after cancelling it on the printed form, you can also write a brief letter and attach to your application, stating that you wrote father in error bla bla bla. They'd definitely understand. My husband applied one time and made a mistake on his form and attached a letter to his application correcting the error and he was still given. Cheers! lightofjoy: Thanks for your response. Though call VHS office and they said I can use pen to correct the mistake on paper but I think I will prefer to follow your advise. |

don't worry, all will be well. From experience, you just need to follow up on your vendors before that day and on that day, someone to follow up for you (i didn't have that). i am on whatsapp, i'd send u an email and then i can give you my number. Laeroy: |
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by BnBarbie(f): 10:52am On Jan 08, 2014 |
If you have paid the visa fee, you would have to withdraw the application online and request for a refund. Then start a fresh application. But if you haven't paid, i guess you just delete the application and start afresh. lightofjoy: The guru in the house, pls I just paid for my application & after printing out my application discovered that I made a mistake that"in the coloumn of relationship in the UK, father was mistakenly input as uncle. Pls what do I do as I just printed out my forrm & saw the mistake. Kindly respond as soon as possible because nt know what to do. |

Hello all, Congrats in advance to all intending brides. i love weddings and i'm offering myself up to brides to be for advice on wedding planning, if you need someone to accompany you dress shopping (only in lagos sha), wedding coordinator on your wedding day, anything to make you have your dream wedding. What is the catch some pips may ask. But there is none. I am not a wedding planner either oo I had my wedding last year January and there were a few things i regretted doing sha as regards the wedding plans that when i think about, i still get angry. Anyway, i just wanna help anyone willing to accept my help. @Phema; Have you found your dress yet? What kind of wedding gown are you looking for exactly? i want to sell my own oo @numdes, nkkystel and Laeroy, how far with wedding plans na? |

Hi. Even tho the message seems like the message that is usually sent, i am not sure they tell you whether you have been issued a visa or not via text messages or emails. You usually find out when you open the packet received at the VFS. I recently applied also and received a mail that "my visa has now been processed and ready for collection". Even tho I was given the visa, that isn't what the message was intended to pass. I hope this answers your question. I wish you all the best and hope u are given. dove30: Your application has been approved and the visa has been issued. We aim to return passports to the VAC within 2 working days. You can check the location of your passport at www.ukvac-ng.com. ABEG GUYS WE GOT THIS TEXT WITHIN 6 DAYS.DOES THIS ACTUALLY MEAN VISA AS BEEN ISSUED |

@ bossladyMo: A housewife who just had a baby, travelling alone? Hmmmmm. If i were the CO, i would wonder why you aren't going for tourism with your husband as a family. I have noticed from my lil experience that COs usually frown more at married pips goin on tourism alone rather than with their family. Except if there is a specific reason why you are flying such long distance with your new born. I stand corrected though. This is just my humble opinion. bossladyMo: I really appreciate this free consult:-). |
