Foreign Affairs / Re: Obama's Healthcare Reform - Fair Or Foul? by coolblue(m): 11:27am On Sep 01, 2009 |
Kobojunkie: The Presidents before Obama who wanted health care reform failed at this because of vested corporate interests (insurance companies with large amounts of money), that is a given. Why Obama's case is being racially driven is because just like you said the democrats have a majority in the house and the senate- this translates into reform (i am not suggesting that all democrats agree on all the points in the bill) because now more than ever IT CAN BE DONE. What better way to discredit the govt plan when you can’t use the filibuster- simple make it seem wrong. Make it such that we don’t concentrate on what’s important and look at the less important things like- RACE. Making death threats and the like, comparing him to Hitler and then calling it a socialist policy Kobojunkie: The reason why we have anti-trust legislation is to protect the people from monopolistic institutions that if unchallenged will provide us with sub-standard services at insane costs. Bottom line in my OWN opinion is for us to successfully bring down the cost of healthcare there should be a govt option- without that, it’s all window dressing. Its a given that 80% of Americans are covered right now by health insurance what that means is that there is a much larger set of people to worry about and not just those skipping across the border and swimming the Atlantic, lol. With roughly 14000 American losing their insurance every week because the costs are abortive, 2 in 3 small businesses- the bedrock of American enterprise - will not be able to pay insurance costs by the end of 2010 because of the high premiums. 1 out of these 3 businesses will declare bankruptcy before the end of this year because of healthcare payments. It’s very important that we have reform - and this was my error- not only for those who cannot afford to pay now or are not covered but also for those who can! |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Obama's Healthcare Reform - Fair Or Foul? by coolblue(m): 6:54am On Aug 26, 2009 |
The debate taking place right now indicates that Obama is considered by the broad majority of Republicans as being strongly ANTI-AMERICAN. His policies are also considered anti american and anything he does is projected racially. To assume there is no racial undertone to this is to assume in error. Nobody like the current tax system, its awful, a further increase in tax would be a disaster but then again losing your health insurance when you need it the most is a lot worse than the tax situation. Its not compulsory that you move to the single payer option but competition is always very healthy. If any other company provided the iphone 'cept at&t i would probably have better options but no we dont. Truth be told health insurance today is expensive and with the understanding that these costs will double in less than nine years is less than encouraging. we need the reform not for those who cant afford it but for those who can, |
Romance / Re: What Do You Do When Someone Os Flirting With Ur Guy by coolblue(m): 11:49am On Aug 25, 2009 |
I am yet to meet a woman who does not watch the man she cares about carefully to make sure he is not playing her, @ Topic- its pretty straight forward, a man responds to flirtation to assert the " i still have it" position. If you make sure that he never believes he has lost his game (even if he has) i wouldnt worry about it, |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Obama's Healthcare Reform - Fair Or Foul? by coolblue(m): 7:43am On Aug 18, 2009 |
I will have to agree with mcccloud on this. this is reform that is well over 60 years too late. This is something i am sure the republicans do not want the black man to take credit for bringing change to the american health care system. The bill is expensive and is going to take some hardhits but its probably the best that can happen to reduce the cost of healthcare- even if the reform is implemented today it is too late. much too late. |

Romance / Re: If Luv Is A Game Who Wins by coolblue(m): 7:14pm On Jul 20, 2009 |
I cannot say i see a situation where there are winners and losers. I see the point in playing with your eyes open but i think that there are no real winners or losers at the end- regardless of how it turns out the best you can hope for is to be happy, even when you think you have won- look very carefully at what you lost. |

Romance / Re: Can U Date Ur Boss. by coolblue(m): 6:40am On Jul 17, 2009 |
I can but i wont- usually has short term benefits either way. I think its more troublesome for a lady to date her boss than a guy- maybe. In the long run, in both cases- except if one person quits, Disaster is in the air. |
Romance / Re: Would You Hack Into Your Gf/bf Web Profile To Know More About Them? by coolblue(m): 3:04pm On Jul 14, 2009 |
YES!!! Its kinda wierd when everyone says once there is trust and all that bla bla bla, well considering that everyone here i am sure would say that every once in a while you ask your friends and people what they think about your BF or GF, i'm assuming that its because you are looking for another perspective on him or her. Its pretty Simple, asking around for information is something we all do, so i say it again, YES. its not because i dont trust her, truth is everyone feels there is just some info you cant handle and all that. That being said, if you go digging, the only thing you will find is dirt. what you hav to decide is how much dirt can you handle. So peeps, if you have access to info take it and digest it wrt the context- YES, YES YES- i will its just as ok to go thru data as it is to find out what your friends think. |

Romance / Re: Is Love Really All That Matters In A Relationship? by coolblue(m): 8:20am On Apr 26, 2007 |
Thanks a lot @ ima1, true she has those and i have learned to accept that. we have been going out like i said for a year now, seriously for about 8 months and engaged to be married. the rest is, @Dvampire, the greatest thing i always try to make her understand is that true enough life goes on without her, but then again i'd rather it didnt. @ seun, she is great and i am too, i respect that but then when we have dis agreements objectivity becomes hard to focus on, the need to be right is strong. too many times i have tried to break my resolve and call her, but right now i cant finger an exact reason for her to be mad at me. shes great so am i. @ Aproko : i also have a history of being a counsellor at my church on relationship issues. but needless to say those who cant do teach. i have tried the listening technique spoken, i am wiling more so to continue. patience not infinite but i try. @ cute-ass point taken. i will do as y'all say and we shall see it as it goes. Presently we are on day three. not a single word. oh well so be it, and she calls my sister thanks yal. will let y know what happens. |
Politics / Re: Femi Pedro To Be Impeached: Does It Make Sense? by coolblue(m): 8:27am On Apr 25, 2007 |
To say thet he is to be impeached to improve the security of lagosians as well as pedro himself is the ultimate form of jargon that i can ever comprehend. that Lagosians will stand for it, oh well since sentiment drives out political affiliation not sensibility what can we expect. Femi Pedro is a good man( or so it seems). Impeachment is unnecessary and insensible, but then again who made me God. |
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by coolblue(m): 8:21am On Apr 25, 2007 |
to quote awoof "Ha its a lie!!! ask Germans they know the tribe that has the greatest number of fraudsters in Nigeria" well that we have an idea of the largest number of fraudsters in any tribe is not a reason to be happy. fix the nigerial polity one person at a time starting from me. then we can say anything. |
Romance / Re: Is Love Really All That Matters In A Relationship? by coolblue(m): 8:11am On Apr 25, 2007 |
Thans a lot ima1, i might do that but that means i also have to consider the possibilty of a break or an end. She grew up under extreme conditions of rejection and abandonment, which lead to a general sense of mistrust and insecurity. hence my forbearance. i have tried to instill the absolute nature of my love but that dont work either. i think it could end which can further aid her mistrust but should i kill myself to prove that not all humans are bad. where is the balance ? |
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by coolblue(m): 7:57am On Apr 25, 2007 |
Firstly, the ethnic thing is a natural in any case, believe me if it was a yoruba man that was named it would have been yoruba people that would heve been credited with all the compliments the ibo are recieving on this thread. To state it clearly, for me if the nigerian federation should split to yoruba, ibo and hausa, that would not be the end instead we would look for other dividing factors like ibadan- ondo- ekiti and the like. The fact that nigerians are fraudsters is ina way true because for as many as grew up here, we think of corruption as a way of life and this is not because we are hausa or yoruba or ibo, it's because we are nigerian. How many of us if we get stopped for some legitimate traffic offence would rather follow due process? instead we think why dont we just pay the police man and go our way. If you can follow due process then you can speak but until then let us not claim to be holy yoruba or hausa of efik or anyhting else. The slander on nigerians is universal to an outsider. they wont ask if you are ibo after being nigerian, or so i think. |
Romance / Is Love Really All That Matters In A Relationship? by coolblue(m): 7:42am On Apr 25, 2007 |
My girlfriend is a great person. We agree to disagree agreeably. that is we always talk about we fight till we resolve it. We have been going out for about a year +. we are engaged to be married. Of late i cant tell, but everything i do causes a fight. we are not speaking right now. i really dont know what to do. i have tried to understand and not complain, but she keeps pushing. i have spent the last six months apologizing for everything. On who lies the responsibilty in a relationship. the man or the woman or both. Why is it so hard for apology over intense matters hard for women, or is it just this one. I dont have a history of womanizing, nor am i a demanding. Ladies what is the scariest part about guys, why is pain a check. i wonder, oam i proud,am i vain. she goes on about how lucky i am to have her, bla bla bla. i am not tired, but i wonder if she is trying to tell me something. |
Politics / Political Mentality: by coolblue(m): 7:33am On Apr 25, 2007 |
People, i think before our government can change there is a need for a change in the basic thought patterns of the average nigerian. This election results and all underscore a few facts: 1) The average smart person thinks their vote doesnt count 2) We accept anything as long as it apparently lets us be 3) Complain a lot but when the opportunity comes we expect somebody else to fix it. It has often been said a people get a government they deserve. How many of us actually voted, even though it was rigged, how many of us thought to encourage the new people who thought we were tired of the oppresive democracy. Politicians are still making the same promises for the past 40 years. I dont expect the new people to fix our problems in 4 years but i think they will lead us in a path and lay a foundation for a new beginning. The greatest insult "when nigerians are pushed to the wall, they break it down and keep going", that's our curse. we should know its only cowards who do that. Do you think that an enlightnment campaign can help against the next regime? Can we begin the ground work that can change the mentality of the tout? is there hope at all? |

Romance / I'm Her Assistant Boyfriend by coolblue(m): 1:23am On Jun 24, 2006 |
People, I've been trying to get this girl to go out with me. We talk, get along just fine and all what not. She tells me almost anything and we are like close. I've asked her out but to get a definite answer is a problem. She never says no, but then she don't say yes either. I'm still awake trying to figure this out then I thought y'all could help me out here. We've been friends for 2 years (myself and funmi) and close for over 1 and a half. The first time she gave me a vague answer she said I was not ready for a relationship: no job, money, since I was studying and all. Oh! she is the kind of chic who is sought after by many actually, so anytime I stroll in she briefs me on some guy trying to buy her love. I get the feeling that she leaving me hanging just so if all goes well its me, but else theres the other types of guys. Told her what i think then she says im very pushy!!! Enough of the chronicles of !@#$$!!!. What do I do? Walking away is not a first choice. Maybe finally but not first. |

People, id like to know what are the possibilities of 1 publishing a song online, basically for promoting an artist 2 where and how it can be done 3 getting the proper amounts of publicity and how this can be monitored. The reason for all of this is i have afriend who is pretty good at rapping and i'd like to put some of his stuff up for the general populace to listen to and enjoy. also for them to download. i also want to be able to monitor this. how can this be done? |
Programming / Re: Dreamweaver vs FrontPage by coolblue(m): 3:14am On Feb 25, 2006 |
ok!!!! we get it already. Personally i aint used fp in 5 years, it was way to regular and couldnt expand on my visions so i guess i cant make an objective classification on its weaknesses. Truth be told, on any level DW rocks, and if u cant feel that cos u is afraid of a little learning then , PELE!!! besides which its seamless integration with real web development tools and not stuff like word or excel seem to carry more weight with me. but as i always say "who made me judge" DW 4 life |

Romance / Re: Truths About Women by coolblue(m): 5:10am On Feb 10, 2006 |
i first read this post yesterday, didnt comment on it cos the general take was disagreement. fist let me say i disagree strongly with the all women are bitches bit. outside that its just plain gospel. a careful look at the threads flying round nairaland prove the truth in these statements. so kk, i must say that most of these are very true, and its not in so much of a yab to women, its more of statements of fact about them. And all the stuff about why you hang with a woman, bull. is it every woman you hang with you must marry!!! ageeeeeeegi, some are friends some are pests, some are just plain helpful. and for the records if you think this is bad, let the cjhics in nl honestly without prejudice say what they think about us men. the'll tell you that we are all just , raunchy, randy always wanna nail every chic we see, kinda people. and probably worse. KK, truth is truth- remove the bitch part- and you're home free. |
Romance / Re: Ladies: Would You Date A Man Younger Than You? by coolblue(m): 11:17pm On Feb 03, 2006 |
@ fl Fl, i am in no wise saying money is not important.what i said in "not rich" as an excuse not to like or go out with someone. I do not deny the need for money in any relationship, what i deny is the need for it to be in excess for it to work. And yes, my age wont be a secret 4ever,but by the time she finds out, it wont be an issue. When you love someone, its not just one part of them you love its the entire persona, going on about age is not necessarily a good enough reason to destroy what could be a good thing. A friend of mine would say " your flaws dont make you imperfect, they make you human" so is being a tad bit younger now an imperfection? as far as im concerned and i state it again " if you like someone older than you, go for it, find out if you can love them." after all is not everybody elses life you are living Society can @%#$ themselves 4 all i care. 1 Like 1 Share |
