Education / Re: Pupil Sues Teacher For N500m For Blindness In Left Eye by cutesy(f): 1:57pm On Sep 14, 2011
Infact, this is getting worse and worse.

A neighbour of mine's 6 yr old son was partially blinded by a splinter that flew off the cane his teacher used to spank him for whatever reason.

The once active boy now hides away from everone coz he's so ashamed of his face, poor boy cry . I feel so sad whenever I see him. His parents have left the teacher's fate in God's hands, their claim is even if she gets sacked, it won't bring back the boy's eye so why bother?. They are currently gathering money for a trip to India to see if the eye can be restored. Its something to do with his retina and docs here are optimistic it can be reversed if he gets treatment immediately. Thanks to his young age, wow. Its so horrible how this stuff happens to our kids. Why cane?? What happened to good old fashioned punishment, that usually has a longer lasting impact than cane. In my days, boys who knew they will be caned always come well prepared (wear 2 shorts, well placed books etc) so at the end of the day the aim of caning is defeated.

A teacher also got whiplash from too much caning, then blamed the poor child being caned for witchcraft (daft teacher).

I don't think the contigent damage is worth it.
Phones / Re: What Blackberry Phone Has The Longest Battery-life? by cutesy(f): 1:49pm On Sep 14, 2011
Apparently I think it is a deliberate ploy by RIM to up sales of batteries, chargers and eventually phones. I don't think you're ever gonna find a long lasting battery solution to a blackberry phone, no sirreee!!! I currently use 9700, 9800 and am hoping to a 9990 ( I dunno why ) but even then something in me still thinks blackberries are seriously overrated. undecided

Wow!!! @Justwise, that was fast (y)

Thanks, so I go through the whole process again? Do I need to wait till the 28 days expires, or I can start on Monday (i.e 7 days)?

Also will I need to get another invitation letter or use the same one that got me mine?

Will I need to re-submit my passport and visa with their application?

Will I need to submit the notice of refusal and appeal forms

And will I need to pay full 19+ k per child again cry

NB: I put in their birth certificates and my marriage cert before and was refused , what else do I put in apart from what you mentioned above and family pictures,

Hi guys!

First of all I want to say a big thank you to the people who's comments went a long way in securing my Visa, "Thank youuuu kiss "

Ok.

Now, a little issue. I was given, but my kids weren't. cry

The BHC provided me with an appeal form with 28 days to appeal. Grounds of appeal were :

1.Not enough evidence that na me born my pikin angry

2.Not enough evidence that them papa gree make them comot.

On a serious note, do I appeal or do I simply re-apply, (gbese).

Thanks for the anticipated prompt and on-point response,

Haba! madam, you can see the topic of this thread or can't you? It says: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries

Without anything concerning US student visa, then your contribution is worthless here. Think now!

Shior! You could have just modify your first post rather than all your - tongue tongue tongue.

@imperiouxx or whatever your name is, I did not direct my comment at you. I see no reason for the type of insulting comments you are making.

I posted here accidentally and if these are the type of people who will be interacted with then good riddance to bad rubbish.

Kindly direct your hostility elsewhere. Don't bother responding because u definitely will not receive any audience from me.

I tend to ignore fools. I am only making this unusual exception in your case.

Hi and big ups to the amount of goodness on this thread.

I need your advice an this issue: What can be done if a genuine invitation letter from a relative in the UK has an obvious mistake on it such as the year of birth of one of the invitees? The options being considered are:

1. Request another letter, which will take another two weeks and is really a last resort as he will need to courier it, again .
2. Submit it like that, and hope it doesn't mean anything and will not disqualify the entire visa application!!!
3. Get him to re-do it, scan and email it across, which is the most convenient option for us all
4. Submit it like that, but get him to write another signed letter addressed to d uk embassy, scan and email it, explaining the mistake he made on the initial original letter.

NB: The invitees are all going for the first time!!! Virgin passport alert! All other documents are available, valid and original,

Business / Re: UBA Minimum Account Balance Now N25,000 by cutesy(f): 5:12pm On Jul 04, 2011
U guys amaze me. Its simply because UBA has decided to "decently" inform us in advance, probably it feels it owes its customers that coz of its large diverse customer base.

How about other banks who have sneakily implemented this and other obnoxious policies overnight without telling anyone!!! You only end up discovering in the worst possible way, after they might have debited you for whatever unknown charge (GTB), or after you find ur atm card refused for no reason just to find out there is a new minimum balance policy (SCB) , mschewww.

If I say I tire for Naija banking, na serious understatement, I tell you.

I use UBA, but trust me, before September that particular account will be dry,

Any response to this, please:

nce again, thanks a lot for the patience and time dedicated to all these million million questions.

Ok, my final question before I submit,

The section that states "have you ever been refused a visa".

I have, only once in 2008 and that was a schengen visa to Greece. It was supposed to be for a 5 day training organized by my office then, but they still turned it down, The reason being insufficient funds. Till today, I still wonder what the hell that meant coz my account was booming!!!.

Anyways, for this purpose, pls advise me. Do I tell the truth about this (as I intend to anyway) and when I do, will this affect my current application to the UK?

Do you think its advisable I let sleeping dogs lie? for the record, there is no sign at all of this on my passport, they were kind enuff not to mark it in any way. This passport is also old as I now have a new on

Omo_Tier1:

Answer to the part in bold, YES you will need to show proof of payment for hotel accommodation for either the whole period of your holiday or atleast for much of it.

If you have a friend, why not request for an invitation letter and other documents as required as this will make things easier for you. Although, a burden of proof will be on you to establish the closeness or otherwise of you and your invitee. Specifying just the address of your friend as your accommodation MAY not help you much.

Thanks a million. I still need a bit more clarification:

1. My friend is my brother-in-law. What does he need to send to me apart from an invitation letter
2. Does it matter that I'm applying as a visitor, even though my brother-in-law is inviting me?
3. Do I still need to pay for a hotel in advance even though I don't yet have the Visa
4. Do I also need an itinerary as a matter of compulsion?
5. Will my chances of securing a visa be any better if I apply for a family VISA instead, remember, I am the one sponsoring my trip.
6. How long does the entire process take, anyways? undecided

Sorry, but I really need to know,

Hi!!!

I want to say that there is a wealth of solid information on this forum; keep up the good work, guys!!!

My question is this, if I apply for a UK Visa (first time app by the way) as a general visitor/tourist, do I have to specify a hotel where I will stay? What if I have a friend I can stay with coz i will go with kids.

we actually intend to spend at most a week in the buk and do lots of sight seeing and shopping.

Kindly advise, I don't want to be refused!!!!

(all other documents need for tourism are valid and complete by the way ie bank statement, payslip, company letter etc)

Will really appreciate this, thanx.

What's cracking me up here is that there are only 2 people in this whole chareade whose names stand out : Harry Akande and Dakore Egbuson.

While as for 'poor' Mr husband, you are either referred to as Harry Akande's son or Dakore's soon-to-be husband.

I hope you eventually have your own identity soon, otherwise hmmm, you may end up being the last mugu standing when the shit literally starts hitting the fan,

Is it only me, or has no-one else been able to track this guy's shenanigans down?

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-354975.0.html

Pls, take a look at that link, where dami_ptc ( another alter-ego among the many e.g privatei, gadgetvil, pt consult and fred-somthing-or-the-other etc) is looking for something lucrative to "invest" his ill-gotten gains of about 3m in? And on another forum, Naijahotjobs, he shamelessly brags on how he made 6m online etc and offers to show others the way, *smh*.

Well, it always pays to run a background check on someone before doing business with them; I wanted to buy something from him and simply googled his phone-number after being told he needs the money paid upfront before delivery (imagine, na today? angry ) and voila!!! Pandora's box is open.

Another red-flag is when the offer sounds too good to be true, it usually is!!!

As always, kindly shine ya eye!!!
