Politics / Re: Tinubu Removed Fuel Subsidy Because "Nigerians Were Living A Fake Good Life" by darqly(m): 6:18am On Dec 02
This useless man and his dense supporters want to glamorize poverty and suffering as some sort of patriotic duty and vilify prosperity as being fake or proceeds of corruption. If buying a bag of rice at 100k is patriotism whilst minimum wage is 70k then there is a virulent strain of stupidity afflicting Nigerians.

This thing has become the norm in the national assembly, where a spouse is "pushed" to complete the term of a deceased member. How about if the spouse isn't interested in serving her constituency? How about if they have a thriving career.or business? Should they ditch it for a seat in an arm of govt they have no passion for?? I hate our legislators, they're utterly useless.

Members of the Nigerian armed forces are just touts, not a single iota of professionalism. They assault unarmed civilians with such savagery but cower in the face of amateur bandits with rusted AK47s. I always maintain, and I've seen it personally - One on one, most people can brush a Nigerian soldier neat. That's why they ALWAYS look for reinforcements cos they're effing cowards angry angry

Business / Re: Dangote Refinery Will Crash Dollars by darqly(m): 12:23am On Nov 11
MT:

You are such a cynic.

So when dangote exports its products , won’t he earn dollars in return? Won’t he use the dollars earned to buy crude oil elsewhere if there is a need for it? This arrangement does not affect our fx reserves in any way and naira will keep breathing.

Even if Nigeria sells crude oil to dangote in naira , thereby reducing our usd intake, is there still not a reduction in our demand for usd by 40%?

What were we using the increased usd warning to do in the past than to use it to buy crude oil internationally - a case of getting dollars in one hand and losing it on another.

This situation we are in is far better and preferred. Naira will breathe.

It's been ONLY 2 months after this prediction, is the Naira still breathing? How much is your fuel now? All of us will learn how Nigeria works in real time grin

Those of us that limp into 2027 have to ask ourselves if we want to live or we want our children to die. If we do not expel APC from power, they will KILL off Nigeria. USD @ N2k by year end is the bitter reality and that means higher cost of PMS and higher cost of EVERYTHING because of transport. I have no smart clapback or snark for Tinubu and APC supporters, I just wish them and their families MORE suffering and poverty in the coming days, months and years. A vote for APC is a vote for death and I will vehemently resist any one that tries to kill me. God punish all of you progressives and that bast@rd mandate you are standing on angry angry angry

Politics / Re: President Bola Tinubu Introduces Fuel At ₦230 Per Litre With CNG by darqly(m): 3:23pm On Sep 11
And the sheer ineptitude and unpreparedness of Emilokan is in full glare once again. His govt has not provided up to 100 functional CNG buses in total, then the actual CNG stations are also few and far between and many regular service stations do not even know that CNG is let alone being ready to buy, store and dispense to the public.
If this man had any sense, before removing subsidy completely, he would have setup a chain of CNG stations in the FCT and provided at least 100 buses for the FCT alone to test for viability.

Premium Okoto grin grin

Removal of subsidy has been welcome by IMF, World Bank, UK, Europe, and most countries.

Nigerians, please let us remove this corrosive subsidy pata pata so the money can go into other areas.

In the past 10 years, this last 2 months have been the period when I have spent the least to fuel my generator. And I am not even in Band A. It means electricity is improving. Other things will improve too in due course.
More Okoto grin grin

Let's persevere in the short term, and I hope the government can find quick, effective ways to help those that are most affected by the current hardship. Even you KNOW this is a dream, which is why you hope. Palliatives WILL never move a nation to prosperity.

What more can you ask of a leader? Leaders show the way and lead by example, but yours is buying jets and looting as if he's a kid in a candyshop.

Sycophancy is a disease. BAT and APC are living lavish, spending like there's not a fat hole in our finances BUT it is regular Nigerians that you expect to manage and endure and suffer till God fixes the nation. 10yrs of APC and you're still swayed by a made in China video when you're queueing for expensive fuel.

This was the rubbish some of you said when Cardoso was pumping dollars a few months ago and NGN strengthened to N900. EVERYONE with small sense could see it was window dressing but Tinubudeens said Cardoso deserved flowers and other okoto. How much is USD today? Is Cardoso even bothered about the current exchange rate anymore? Your capital importation declined by 57% and you people are talking about crashing dollar. Dangote will still import crude because first of all, NNPC does NOT have the crude feedstock he needs, this is common knowledge. And he will not import crude in Naira either. grin grin grin If you like sell your dollars sha...you will learn.

I like the faith most of the posters here have in the responses, most of it though is from a place of blissful ignorance. Selling crude to Dangote in Naira is a double edged sword; Nigeria is losing desperately needed FX and the so-called savings we expect will be negligible because most of his other costs are USD denominated i.e Dangote will STILL need to buy dollars to run his refinery especially because NNPC does not have the crude he needs to refine!! He will still import crude! He will also sell his petrol overseas if he gets good prices and that means our pricing will mirror what is obtainable internationally, bearing in mind that our currency is already devalued and many Nigerians are POORER under this cursed APC. Expect to buy fuel at N1,500 and above in the near future, whether you are standing on the mandate or not grin grin grin

Nigerians truly amaze me because you can see and feel the results of a stupid policy BUT you're still trying to make it make sense. If Nigerian farmers were meeting demand, would prices be at an all-time high? Buhari started this stupidity and BAT has doubled down on it whilst people cannot afford food.

Politics / Re: Are You Still Batified? by darqly(m): 8:17pm On Feb 18
emkz:
Yes.

For many years, we have been living in a bubble. We subsidized the consumption by the rich. Our refineries have not been producing. There was pervasive insecurity. Oil theft was rife. Chinese were stealing from us. We started handing out dollars to people for reasons that don't make sense. The subsidy was consistently being abused by people who claimed it and still took the products across the borders. Local fuel consumption was inflated. There were no investments in critical infrastructure. Questionable billionaires emerged following the start of the 4th republic. The bought banks and no one knows the source of their incomes. Industries completely collapsed and religion became rife.

Infact, we started borrowing to pay salaries and subsidies. People like Professor Usman Yusuf in NHIS used their positions to rob the nation. Today, they are sudden moralists for a better Nigeria.

What Tinubu is doing is an attempt to refocus things so that the pains will not be even more in the future. Tinubu demonstrates the boldness many before him lacked. We can see some improvements in certain areas. For example, after the kidnap of the Nabeeha family and the killing of Nabeeha herself, we can see how Wike and Co swung into action and have arrested the masterminds. Our military chiefs are not talking too much and are doing the job.

I recall when they started partitioning roads in Lagos for BRT. As soon as the buses were rolled out, no one criticized Tinubu again. So the suffering we are currently facing are pains that will pass.

We only call on Tinubu to go after the sponsors of terrorism, banditry and rogue businessmen inflating prices. We also call on governors to show workings. It is evil for PDP governors to be attacking the president when they should be worried and working harder for their people.

As a people, let us put the same pressure on the governors, representatives and senators as we put on the president.

If the elections hold again, I'd still throw my weight behind Tinubu. Atiku had his time, and he had nothing to show for it beyond plundering national assets to cronies. He is one of the architects of the current mess and should take responsibility. He also lacks understanding of presidential processes. Peter Obi is just a revolt against the status quo and people conveniently forgot he was a governor as well and Anambra did not improve.

Any sincere Nigerian would make suggestions to help the nation.

You're speaking plenty nonsense, deceiving yourselves that a period of needless suffering precedes one of prosperity. Your standard of living has depreciated steadily over 8yrs but you think Nigerians were "living in a bubble". Don't you like good things for yourself? Why is it okay to suffer as a citizen whilst your useless party members and leaders live the soft life? APC is not wired to create prosperity, and they cannot pull people out of poverty with ₦30k handouts but this is the life you say you deserve so remain in it. Someone removed subsides BEFORE providing alternatives and you think that is bravery? It's called cluelessness..
